Cheers for the playthrough. I just finished System Shock 2, and it is one of the most unique action rpgs out there. Only made stranger by the fact that it is mired in horror tropes; this further makes its rpg progression feel both satisfying and desperate. While I managed to never make a broken character, there were many times when I had misgivings about my own priorities. And even though it might feel a bit messy for these reasons, I cannot help but love this game. No other rpg I've played has given me such satisfaction in building my character through the most bitter adversity, while listening to audio logs about colleagues being brutally mutilated by either mutations or forced cybernetic augmentation.
It was a very delightful LP indeed. I very much enjoyed the structure of it all, being informative to no end as well as letting cut-scenes and audio logs play out. And let us not forget every single detail, for example showing off many strategies and etc. Thank you for delivering such a magnificent project. I shall look forward greatly to your next journey in the future, PE. Have a good one, and thank you one final time for all the effort that went into making this LP ~
That was quite a fun ride. You made this game look extremely fun to play, and interesting. It was so very in depth as well. Yes, you admit you got a lot of info from a guide, but you didn't have to use the info. And your use of it all, plus your own info you added in kept things interesting. And now I look forward to the rest of the multiplayer episode and how badly you destroy the entire rest of the game in a fourth of the time. Especially the final area.
This has been a fantastic let's play! I enjoyed everything in single player very much, and I look very forward to seeing the multiplayer videos. I do agree with you that the last stretch for the end game was a bit disappointing, though I wouldn't expect it to be huge necessarily after so much time is spent on the previous sections, a shorter area makes some sense, but I think it should have been at least as long as the Many body myself, using sections of Citadel Station in some twisted, creative ways. But as you said, it was probably a lack of time and/or money. One thing I did like about the final battle, aside from feeling very Tron esque with Shodan's face protected by those rotating shields, the general decour was very cold and empty... it fit Shodan quite well, so I give the devs credit there, and the ways to get through the shields are alright, not incredibly dynamic, but smart and fairly creative, and certainly the battle had some strong difficult from the avatar alone if you did not pay good attention, as she could really blindside you since she makes virtually no noise.
And that's what I get for being a lurker on SA and not much of a poster yet: no mention at the end of the video (like that means anything significant). Anyway, you did an excellent job with this LP/thread Psych; can't wait to see how you can entertain us in the future, and what else you have in store.
It was great to watch this LP as I played through System Shock 2 and Bioshock Infinite. It was interesting to see where the series' roots were used in future games.
SHODAN's tron like cyberspace as well as that of the training units is meant to be a callback to the Cyberspace hacking minigame in System Shock 1. In that, you basically played a warped version of Descent within colored wireframe rooms and tunnels, collecting floating data fragments like the ones you see whizzing through the air in SHODAN's world in this game, toggling cyberspace switches and fighting Space Colony Citadel's anti-malware programs, the biggest of all being SHODAN herself as the final boss.
Anyone else get the bug where the long drop at 9:00 never ends and you just hit the ground after a while with no boss fight at all? Doesn't seem to be a known issue so I don't know what to do...
capacamaru Preferably a Revision playthrough. I also want Psyche to cover Pathways into Darkness, System Shock 1 Enhanced Edition, came the Marathon Trilogy.
I loved System Shock 2 but the game went downhill quite rapidly once you got onto The Rickenbacker. It was obvious that the developers had run out of ideas and the budget was low, so they recycled many textures and designs, plus the Shodan fight is very weak. It could've almost been the perfect game otherwise. Cheers for uploading :-)
They only had one year to develop ss2, EA rushed them , the ending is not even the true ending, it sucks it really really sucks that they didnt have time to finish.
I thought everything in the Rickenbacker level was fine the way it was. But yeah, the boss fight was not really satisfying, it was just too easy and short.
You could have thanked the guy and gave him a pat on the back, SHODAN, but NOOOO you had to go all mega tech dimension distorting bitch and get murdered by your insect, fuck you, SHODAN. Kidding aside, I've thoroughly enjoyed this LP from start to finish Psych, pretty damned good.

Shodan's variety of memories is very limited lol
Oh man, both parts of that ending. Fantastic stuff.
Fantastic job on the LP, it was quite a treat to watch and experience the game with!
Great LP, I'm excited to see what is on the horizon now!
Thank you for the fantastic LP, Psych. Looking forward to the next one!
Many thanks Psych, it was a wonderful LP. :)
Fantastic LP Psych! I never finished this game when I played it so many years ago but this has encouraged me to go back and do it justice.
Your accent. I love it.
Good job, psych! I look forward to your next LP!
Excellent LP!
It has been a pleasure watching this let's play.
The level you're on is supposed to look like the Hospital level from the first System Shock :)

"What is a man? A wretched bag of flesh..."

Salute you handsome piece of jewel! I will definitely see you in your next lets play, what ever the game is!
Well done again Psych, looking forward to the rest of the co-op footage. À la prochaine, mon ami.
Actually System Shock 3 may be possible, the company that brought SS2 to modern PCs may be able to make a SS3.
I think the entire game is amazing
Well that was certainly a great experience.
FYI, they are now making System Shock 3.
Amazing LP Psychedelic Eyeball, you are the man! (french-canadian man)
shodan's bossfight is more underwhelming when you are heavy weapons build, 1 emp grenade will kill her.
Acking.
God, I love your accent.
Anyone else get the bug where the long drop at 9:00 never ends and you just hit the ground after a while with no boss fight at all? Doesn't seem to be a known issue so I don't know what to do...
The shield fight reminds me of the deadly brain and shinatama fights from Oni
wow i like your well speak style XD
there is suppose to be a third and final story to this game series!
Deus Ex LP next?
capacamaru Preferably a Revision playthrough. I also want Psyche to cover Pathways into Darkness, System Shock 1 Enhanced Edition, came the Marathon Trilogy.
thats the jingle. i knew i had heard it, as ive got the album its in, i just couldnt get the name
You know, SHODAN's shield fight reminds me of the Tron fight against the Master Control... (haha! Avatar SHODAN looks funny when she runs...)
probably the best way that could have ended.
Nah.
17:44 I want that shirt!
Katawa Shodan.
Tomorrow's Harvest \o/
Shodan's avatar has the goofiest run cycle.
My game just simply sent me back to the main menu after SHODAN died without ending. I tried again and there was still no ending.. The fuck ?
You had to jump on the platform where Shodan was, and you'll see the ending
Why aren't you naming all the youtube commenters as well? ;_;
oh man, what a lame ending
Boards of Canada! Great LP Psych.
Sooo MC and Shodan decided to take it slow? Okay, cool. See you in System Shock 3, world's best dating sim.
Whats that song at the end? I know ive heard it before!

@@Thepnastyone You noticed about System Shock 3, right? That's what the ending was meant to be.
