Tips and Tactics: Hornady 147 ELD-M vs Mule deer

I shot this deer twice with a 147gr ELD-M at 670 yards with my 6.5 SAUM, 20” barrel suppressed with a muzzle velocity of 2930.

I’m shocked you needed a 2nd shot, the first shot looked like it would have wiped it out! I’m going to use 147’s this year on antelope.

I too have witnessed what the ELD 140 & 147 gr can do. Varmint to whitetail. Running on average 2850 fps from a 26" Criterion S.S match MTU on a polished Savage Model 10 action. I'm in the process of testing Sierra Gamechanger 130gr for short to mid range shots. Seems the jacket is a little heavy or lead a little hard but may be excellent for the short to mid range shot running higher velocities.
