The goal of Shine! VBS is to help everyone see the glory of Jesus throughout the Scriptures and compel him to trust and worship Christ.
Join us at SHINE! VBS 2024 where we will be looking at the redemption story of Jesus through the lens of five different movies.
Theme Verse
"Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the Lord is risen upon thee." Isaiah 60:1 (KJV)
SETTING
The VBS setting is an immersive experience in which students “go to
the movies” to see biblical accounts that depict the gospel.
Lesson 1 The Mystery at the House of Dragon
Bible Account: 1 Samual 5
Memory Verse: John 14:6, "Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me."
Lesson Aim: The students will learn to guard against idolatry and see Christ alone as God.
Life Application: Jesus shines in my life when I trust in Him alone.
Lesson 2 Ruth and Boaz: A Love Story
Bible Account: Ruth
Memory Verse: Ephesians 1:7, “In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace.’’
Lesson Aim: The students will learn that Jesus loves and offers to redeem them.
Life Application: Jesus shines when I accept his love.
Lesson 3 Donkeys Don't Lie
Bible Account: Numbers 22
Memory Verse: Romans 3:23, "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God."
Lesson Aim: The students will learn that sin causes pain and separation from God.
Life Application: Jesus shines in my life when I admit my sin.
Lesson 4 The Giant Slayer
Bible Account: 1 Samuel 17
Memory Verse: 1 Corinthians 15:57, “But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.’’
Lesson Aim: The students will learn that Jesus Christ has won the victory over sin and death. Life Application: Jesus shines in my life when I follow Him as my Savior.
Lesson 5 The Leaping King
Bible Account: 2 Samual 6
Memory Verse: Revelation 19:5, “And a voice came out of the throne, saying, Praise our God, all his servants, and ye that fear him, both small and great.’’
Lesson Aim: The student will learn that worshiping is living a life that glorifies God
Life Application: Jesus shines in my life when I worship Him.
