      The problem with TAFS is it's trying to put Adam at the center when he's the fall guy. And even though it's doing it ironically, it still isn't as funny. It's overproduced. It's like they're trying to be a bad version of Eric Andre or something. All they needed to do was replace Stavros with someone else who laughs. They should have (and I'm dead serious) hooked Nadav from Your Mom's House who left that show.

    i mean plainview always just represented a supervillain. he becomes almost like Dr. Doom. He builds a community and protects people. He stops a dad from beating a little girl in the film. Really if eli wasnt around and his fake brother didnt come into his life he mighta been a bit better. I would not say it woulda redeemed him but he would not have been so fried.

      Actually Paul Dano's character Eli is the evil one I think 🤔

    • @gabrielsilvas692
      @gabrielsilvas692 Před měsícem +2

      They both are in their own way, Daniel knows he's an evil man and willing to do whatever it takes eli pretends to be pure and righteous but Daniel knows deep down he's playing these people and he knows it he's just keeping it to himself. It's beautiful how we can all look at it subjectively like a painting and say our opinion @@DOA-321

    • @bigol9223
      @bigol9223 Před měsícem +1

      @@gabrielsilvas692 I don't think Daniel would agree that he's evil, but the things he does are consistent with his cynical philosophy and views, whereas Eli's evil is completely hypocritical to his supposed ideals.
      Plainview despises Eli from the start, but one of the greatest grudges comes from the fact that Eli's evil garners genuine love from people, which is the one thing Daniel secretly longs for but can't obtain, again because of his cynical view of everyone who is not a child.
      Look at the scene where Daniel watches Eli with the church ladies at the train station for reference.

    • @DOA-321
      @DOA-321 Před měsícem +2

      @@bigol9223 I just found Eli's smarmy hypocrisy more repugnant than that of Daniel's for some reason and Daniel smelled a rat from the get go although like attract or repel like.. anyway it was a damn good movie...both D.D.Lewis and P. Dano deserved much praise 🤔

    Actually at the explosion where the boy loses his hearing, Plainview does everything else to get the scene under control in terms of fire etc. before he does and goes to check and soothe the boy 😂 He does it.. but it is still secondary to him in the situation.
    He is like a man who has so big void in him that we see that even in the end after he has won everything he is miserable. The work didn't fill it, the son is leaving for him being him, he's an alcoholic. It's a lot like about his trauma that we don't even know all about, but crazy traumas at the times were not uncommon and his unyielding determination of going forward almost to escape something while leaving scorched earth behind. Not going face to face with the traumas. The determination is seen just fron the start without seeing it, he refused to die and crawled with two broken legs to a town miles away. Also being a smart man so he get's to the top. It just is a man who becomes, whatever was the what that made the hole in him that he is trying to fill.

      You have a genuine unique and insightful thought with this, limited by the inexact modern usage of the word trauma. I challenge you to restate your point without using the word trauma, even without posting it. I guarantee you it’s going to be much more articulate and thought out.

      I was in a blacksmith class and the teacher was a real bitch. Long story short I said Daniel's line...."I drink the water, every day" keep in mind this is a seperate quote from the milkshake bit. If you watch him at end of movie saying I drink the water every day, that in my opinion is the essence of insanity.
