the fact that the main display is in such random order (item quantity, time, more items, and then the SUs) is gonna drive me crazy for this entire series
I was thinking at least put the time at the top
Yeah, time on top, then available stress units, a blank line and under that the resources i think!
ilmango: No one would bother spending hours making a display to show how many train tracks you have
Also ilmango: made a blue skull counter in the skyblock series
On scicraft I think their slimefarm has an entire computer to calculate storage system capacity percentage with 2 decimal places lmao
For 99% of players anyway
@@trainsurf yes they have it , in the "SciCraft 100: Complete Server Tour Part 6" video at 7 min mark, i was just watching that video a couple of days ago, what a conincidence
@@shivamverma7151 gotta love this comment section 😂
RIP the Skyblock series
This is a regular reminder to use the pondering tool more often, research in which cases funnels or depots aren't necessary and how to set filters for smeltable / cushable / washable items.
The best things about create. Documentation included. No more reading wiki (if lucky) or watching mod showcase video
Attribute filters FTW
I'd always much prefer a list of things to read as an option. The ponder tool also doesn't always cover all the niche things.
It would be a lot of work styling, but the sails would look awesome in a helix configuration like real life vertical windwills.
Ilmango, the solution to the basin not having enough sides is to have the mechanical arm put multiple different items into a single side of the basin.
A single mechanical arm can pick up items from multiple positions in the world, and is smart enough to not grab ones which are not needed.
maybe add a system to every machine (like the sheet press machine) that when it is not in use it just activates a clutch to deactivate itself. so you don´t have to do it manually or if you forget to deactivate it or if you for example use again the press machine and press stacks of ingots it will deactivate once it has finished.
You could build something like an offshore windpark for more stress units. I think that would look pretty cool
Or even just windmills up and down the coast, he mentioned building a lighthouse earlier but i think windmills could be just as cool
I think the problem is render distance for offshore windpark.
With you talking about the mechanical arm, I wanted to make a few notes:
1) The arm can handle multiple inputs/outputs in hard to reach areas (great for things like a 9 burner steam engine or mechanical crafting as you mentioned), and will also obey filters set on funnels that its delivering to. It can also just be useful transport for strange situations on a small scale
2) With mechanical crafters, you can link the blocks so that you can automatically input into one block and it will spread around. for example with crafting mechanical wheels, you can link together the outer ring and just have one input to automatically fill it out
3) With the mechanical press, you can actually use a chute from above and the press will move through the chute into the basin. From that chute you can click on the side with another chute to make a diagonal slide from which you can insert blocks.
4)If you have a belt running on the same height, next to a basin, you can place a tunnel on it (I don''t think it needs to be brass but not certain) and the items will split off the belt into the basin. This can be useful if you want to insert into multiple basins along a line in a tillable design and are having issues with space for inputs/outputs
Display boards are probably one of the best parts of Create, they're just so satisfying to watch when you get them to work
Im so early that this video is the first recomended video after this video
… That can happen?
That's a good thing tho.
Welp, best epi so far? I had a brief moment of "holy sh*t, I want to play with those mods", but then I remembered living vicariously through watching is a bit less time consuming for me...
the combination of these two mods are amazing, this series went from cave man smashing rocks by hand -> forging better tools with the help of the previous tier of metal -> "i will put 30% of my iron ore in the train track making chest and turn off the ingot mold maker to save 90% of stress units". this game gradually went from survival to factorio in the most satisfying way possible
You should definitely work on a keg barrel factory! I’m not sure if it’s possible but automatic full kegs would be like a nuke factory
I hope to watch you get into more modded minecraft and potentially some expert mode packs. They would suit your optimization playstyle and I'm sure we would all love to see your fantastic explanations about complicated mod concepts and contraptions, as well as absolutely abusing all of the little tricks and quirks of Minecraft to do things we'd never think possible. Love ya mango!
Automation without the visual, mechanical engineering isn't his style for his videos.
At least for things like EnderIO, Mekanism, IE, AE2/Refined Storage etc. Normally
I will also say that I find it very interesting to see the difference between IlMango's setups and mine. He tends to build everything off of a single centralised stress grid, where most of my stuff is instead run using modular power supplies that are all self contained
It would be cool to see something like the Steam Whistle used alongside an on-demand steam engine setup. That way you'd get an immediate audio signal that it has turned on, without having to run somewhere to check a display board or stressometer.
Can this sound be played in different places too? (since normal Minecraft sound distance is too low)
You should put the time of day at the top so everything looks seamless!
The time will yet come, when Mango will build an automated factory that produces just about every component required from some of the most basic materials, with wireless redstone to signal between parts of the factory to activate to produce the materials for each other as required. Like Tango Tek did.
There are ancient windmills in nashtifan Iran that have been grinding flour for over 1000 years! The housing around it might be neat to replicate for your new windmill :p
That could be real "fun" to design a counter for "items per unit of time". I think that using the items counter coupled with buffer that is emptied every 15 minutes for example, but that would rely on some memory cell / stopping the counter from updating after we emptied the buffer container.
Btw, great content ! I'm always bored of MC at some point, so I stop playing, but watching you play on ATFC and showcasing what this modpack lets us do, thats so cool !
I usually gets overwelmed when I have to learn a modpack, but this one looks more approachable now, thanks to you :D
12:33 the mentality of create has always been to add to vanilla functionality, not to replace it
After the TNT keg episode I expected a full blown auto keg factory at this point. Kudos for the restraint
I love the display board idea, it's a great way to have all the info from the devices right in one place. Great work, love this base so much!
You can connect the crafter together (connected) with the wrench to add x8 items or more with a single hopper
put the hour in the top of the display board !!!!
21:14 this reminds me of a mod showcase video that minecraft did once where it showed off a couple mods including create. However the way they showed create was very... Odd. It was just a bunch of creative engines scattered around with random mechanisms attached to them. If you search "mojang's enigma" you'll find more info on it. You can even find a recreation of it in the ponder system in-game.
i love the way he says coocoo clock
fun little display thing, if you only have a small/short thing you want to display on its own, you can use nixie tubes for that :)
mechanical arm can take multiple inputs and send to multiple outputs
There's a cheesy way to make a rhyolite generator that uses very little SU; it's a mech. bearing that rotates solid blocks into the rhyolite, causing them to break instantly, then rotates out. Like a big "hammer" smashing the stone. Since a bearing uses the same SU regardless of what's attached to it, this can easily be scaled up.
LONG LIVE ATFC !!!
Thanks for the awesome content and great videos!
Man ilmango was just the guy I needed to make the create mod fun
4:06 when you will have 3000 ingot molds,
"short" will tell you 3k
"full" will tell you 3098 or whatever amount it is, with full accuracy
all the create stuff is amazing, please keep it up!
always a good evening when you get an ilmango notification
Those new windmills look really cool and you could extend that windmill farm as much as you want to get infinite power from the....... err..... "mincraft wind"......? I would also love to see those display boards in vanilla as well as the bulk storage tanks. Hopefully the wouldn't slow console Minecraft down as much as huge quantities of hoppers and chests do at the moment 😊
In non-TFC create Lava pumped out of dripstone cauldrons is a great steam engine fuel. Dunno if TFC disables that feature.
As far as I can tell there is no dripstone in tfc. If there was it would work. Tested with creative mode.
No dripstone in the pack, but if you can find a sufficiently large lava lake, the hose pulley will treat it as infinite.
@@kevinmagee8185 is that a thing in atfc? I couldn't find the config option for it.
@@4203105 Yeah, it's in the Create server configs, which are inside the save rather than the main configs folder. Looks like atfc has the default value of 10k source blocks.
Saved my evening. Have fun lads!
I think create is a perfect example of a mod that feels very vanilla minecraft. It’s complex and cool but because it doesn’t use electricity like other mods and uses old style mechanical power it feels like very base game.
I genuinely have been leaning towards playing with create by default as I think it can be more fun and feel more balanced than vanilla, besides certain extremely OP things that exist in create like contraptions breaking blocks when stopping.
@@trainsurfbulk blasting and smoking feels way too op for vanilla. I basically have no reason to use furnaces at all with those two things. Which is a shame.
@@MrMoon-hy6pn I would assume these are issues the create devs are working on fixing. Hopefully it will end up perfectly balanced in a couple years
@@trainsurf I don’t really see how they could balance this though without requiring a fuel of some kind. That’s my main issue, bulk processing is essentially free once you’ve built a stress generator and a fan. If they slowed down bulk processing it wouldn’t really do much because you could just wait a little longer for items to process. They can’t slow it down too much or you risk items despawning which is no good. It’s just a tough mechanic to balance.
@@MrMoon-hy6pn the solution will probably be changing the entire mechanics of the fan to not process items in "itemform" and in a way remove bulk smelting like it currently is added before reimplementing something that isn't as OP. Might come an update where some create furnace array or something similar becomes viable/the replacement.
I just see a dedicated control room coming with all infos about all fill levels, and SU with remote redstone levers to power up and down different systems...
I wonder what could happen if Ilmango discovers the aeronautics add-on
Hopefully he's gonna test it once it releases I'd love to see him build with it
22:12 I was not expecting that!
Yay! An ilmagno upload :D
The advantage of mechanical arms is multiple IO operation. Mechanical arms can target 20 blocks and can be configured with different distribution priorities (round robin, nearest first...).
Automated crafting can be achieved with mechanical crafters with filtered brass funnels as targets for the mechanical arm, automated crushing wheel making only requires six funnels if the mechanical crafters shared input is configured correctly.
Also as other comments mention mechanical arms can directly target a basin, enabling recipes with more than four ingredients or freeing sides for automation.
And last, but not least, mechanical arms work through blocks, enabling compact machinery or "hipster" style automation.
Just the video I needed displayed, as I was bored
25:35
I think it would be visually interesting every 3 block hig you changed the direction of the sails.
Can't wait to see when you finish the track for your train
great vid
i like this series by you mango :3 gg :D
New ilmango ATFC hot off the presses? Time to drop everything
You can put a funnel on the side of a basin and right click with the wrench to make it output.
That speed controller's going to break... Again.
You can't have both connections as an input.
In Layman's terms, spiny goes in one side, spiny comes out other side. Spiny from a controller can't touch another spiny, even if they're the same.
Something that I didn’t find out for a while was that the Mechanical Arm will not over fill the forge. The arm will wait until fuel is low before adding more
mango, there is the thing called “attribute filter” thats the thing you need, if you dont want to update filters constantly
What did the Dutch do to Mango to make him refuse to build a windmill like a sane person?
[insert WWII joke here]
ilmango with Create mod has the potential for unfathomable power
create is just so good.
the short/full number only really does anything if you have over 1000 of a material to be displayed. above 1000, the shortened display option *shortens* it to, for example, 2.0K if there's around 2000 of the given item
I know you prerecord these videos by a ton, but I've had a great time powering blaze burners (for steam engines) with lava. Dripstone dripping into cauldrons can get their lava extracted with pipes, then you can spout it into a bucket and feed the bucket to a deployer. To prevent the lava from going on the ground I put pressure plates between the deployer and the burner. Free infinite energy!
Another idea for something similar is using a cobblestone generator with a blaze burner to melt the cobblestone at superheated temperatures to melt into lava, then feed those same superheaters with blaze cakes. I don't know if you can power coal forges using lava in ATFC the same way but infinite lava is still achievable like you say!
Are you sure that's a thing in terrafirmacraft?
Edit: okay that works in principle but I'm not sure if there is dripstone in the tfc world generation.
Edit 2: yeah I don't think there is any vanilla dripstone in tfc.
@@TwentySeventhLetter there are no blaze cakes in this. There is a special coal to super heat, but it's a bit of a grind to make.
🔥
Let's gooooooo!!!!
I think the shorten number is for when there more that 1000 that would be present it as 1k
OSHA Nightmare shafts with no guarding.
Only ilmango would consider automatic mining using _exploding clocks_.
I highly recommend getting a steam engine, they're just that good and quite simple to get running continuously if you have a dedicated farm for fuel
I like dripstone lava, myself.
@@ArloMathis same but unfortunately I don't know of any way to get dripstone in TFC
@@jeeBisOkay Oh that's fair, yeah. I don't play TFC so I'm not sure what all is there. I'm learning as the videos come out
I'd like to see pollution of the realms added and how ilmango works around it
You can use a hose pulley to get infinite lava from giant lava caves (10k+ source blocks) and use that to fuel steam engines.
good video
If you want to do it properly, you should have every contraption turn on when there are items in the system, but since it's not that big of a deal, you most definitely should just build a power district where you produce way too much stress units.
Perhaps consider creating an automatic shutoff system for the Ingot Mold production line! Stressometer -> Comparator -> T-Flip Flop on the same line as your shutoff lever. When your system gets overstressed the ingot mold maker will turn off, and you can go turn it back on manually!
I wonder if you will make a mob farm anytime soon, atleast a creeper farm which can supply the eventual powder keg factory aka nuke factory.
Do you still plan on doing the mostly vanilla skyblock series? I really liked it
Build a tree farm for infinite wood and charcoal. It is very OP.
Yeah, I actually wonder why he hasn't done that yet... normally that is about the first machine he builds.. xD
@@blau.specht Maybe he thought it was too overpowered. You only have to push a bunch of saws with a mechanical piston and it automatically breaks the whole tree at once, collects all the items in a chest AND doesnt really take any stress units (only the piston does).
he said it . . . millibuckets . . . finally 😂
Shortened vs. unshortened number is stuff like 7000 vs. 7k I believe
I wonder if you could just hide windmills underground. Digging out the space is easy enough with the drills.
That's what I did. I built 4 full-size vertical windmills underground. Just made a 21x21x12, then built 4 4x8 pieces for each windmill.
I Also prefer a digylittle clock to an animal clock
Atfc. At last!
I dub thee new windmills as Milk Wafers
I've never clicked the bell icon before now. Tired of not watching mango ASAP.
I think chutes don’t work from the side bc create still wants vanilla components to exist (mostly)
21:33 if I remember correctly sci craft have percent display for storage of one of the slime farms
They do. Yet that redstone system is bigger than the house in this series, is less precise, has a delay and requires a semi-manual storage system
For your steam engine can you make a hole big enough and find a way to supply 10,000 blocks of lava to it? Not sure if it still works in your modded game but pulliing from a pit of that size with a create Hose Pulley usually registers as an infinite lava supply using the Create mod and that and an infinite water supply should give you unlimited energy for your steam engine.
Early! Love the seires
what about finding lava pool, pump and bring to the base with a train and use them in the steam generator
time to investigate the steam engine with lava bucket fuel
please make clock line at the top or even sort all the lines :D
Shortened vs long is whether they round big onesxor not
talk about give feul to use deployer instead of mechinical arm, mechanical arm is only only give fuel when it need, but deployer din't. buner has maximum fuel capisity. so if use deployer, then all is burn without leaving ashes - yes literally- .
Every windmill you create feels illegal. Perpendicular sails?! Quadruple windmill?! Sails facing the same direction but being on opposite sides of the rotation axis?!
Perpendicular windmills have been in use for centuries
@@racernatorde5318 I'm taking about sails attached to another sails perpendicularly. I still can't recover form seeing this after ilmango constructing the first windmill.
for a free fuel source, if you pump from over 10000 connected sources of lava with a "pump pulley" (whatever it is called) it is considered as an infinite source of lava.
just hope some is close by under your base
otherwise you can generate lava and make a silo that will hold that ammount of lava and fill it up with a rotating deployer and cykling bucket
But there is nothing he could fuel with it, is there?
@@racernatorde5318 Yes there is, the steam engines. Unless TFC disables lava buckets as valid fuel for blaze burners (coal forges) you can use one mechanical arm and feed 18 burners without issue.
@@AlbusRegis So it does indeed work via lava buckets. I had only tested fluid lava. Funnily enough I had just recently build a automated steam engine with 18 coal forges myself, using kelp blocks. That feels more interesting than just look for an underground lava lake and extracting infinite lava from it
I can't find it in the config, so pretty sure that's disabled.
Please move the time up into the top right corner and use the first line for something that does not need a percentage, the layout of the display right now is just... Wrong 😬
Good evening ilmango, i recently subscribed to your patreon as it says we have access to schematics but it seems there's no library or i can not find it. please let me know where i need to go. thank you
Please put the time at the top of the display board 🙏
Ilmango, please put the time at the top. It’s driving me insane.
I haven’t been watching this series so idk if he’s already talked about it or not, but is he just not continuing the Skyblock series?
He said he'll continue it
@@MarkChlenov did he say when?
@@Mmmmmmmmmbeep nah, we probably will have to wait until atfc series is done lol
Mango, is there no way you can make a lava farm to use lava as the fuel for the steam engine?
Lava is not renewable in this pack
You can clearly see, you have never have been adicted to an factory game
