Dead end it’s like a ghost town

It's incredible quickly Hemel Hempstead has declined in the last 15-20 years... So many vacant units, fast food takeways, and pound shops. There is literally nothing to bring anyone to the town centre as all the main high street shops left or moved out to the retail parks on the edge of town.

The part above Millets is the only part of the original water feature and bridge.
Anyhoo. It looks like most towns in the UK but, in my opinion, still looks ok.
The only people who slate it live their and have never left!
Hemel has always been in the shadow of Berko, even though it has much better facilities.
As new towns go it’s pretty bloody good, compared to MK, Watford, St Albans (now that has gone down hill and not strictly a new town), Stevenage etc etc.
(Oh, I live on SE Asia. 34c and blue skys. It’s damn hot!)

There is always a price to pay for convenience. It's the rise of shopping online that has brought about the changes to high streets across the country sadly. Not just Hemel
