- Footage taken this afternoon (May 1, 2024) shows clashes taking place in the French capital, Paris, during the annual May Day protest. At one point, a woman was struck by a brick thrown by a protester. Tear gas and rubber bullets were also fired. French protesters have gathered on International Workers' Day for many years to campaign for improved workers' rights.

I've been there several times after 1998. It's still standing beautifully. In fact, it's more beautiful than it was in 1998 and especially more beautiful than it was in the 80s or 70s. Just like back then, there are neighborhoods that are best avoided like in most big cities. Plenty of neighborhoods where you can find the same romantic or classy atmosphere you desire, especially in the 1st, 2nd, 6th, 7th, 8th, 15th, 16th, the western half of the 17th district and most of the suburbs west of the city-proper, including Versailles.
Sounds like a good time to take the train to a nearby nature reserve or farming area and taking one’s self away from all of this and spending the first days of May basking in nature’s colour and beauty.How horrible are these people?. No point in destroying public property or little struggling shops as they do.
