      Thank you, Sir. I have to correct my comment in this video: the outer ACU camo fabric itself is not the Gore-Tex. It's a typical heavy-duty nylon tex. The Gore-Tex is taken to the inner layer. So even outer layer gets wet your body will keep dry.

    A very thoughtful and thorough review like a designer or engineer. Everybody prefers YKK zippers, I didn't know they were Japanese. I like the big nylon ones. They operate smoothly, nylon is self-lubricating. I wonder why so many coat zippers are wavy instead of laying flat. Different shrinkage rate maybe? Improperly adjusted sewing machines? The elbow reinforcement is likely "Cordura" nylon. A lot of development in the US is done fast. The result can be mass produced mistakes.

      Thank you for your comment, Tom-san. I understand your concerning. I really don't know exact answers but perhaps it may be made for the military issue. The military equipment has different purposes from the fashion market so their first priority is set other point. Those qualities are enough for soldiers maybe. Besides, they can change equipment frequently when it got damaged or malfunction.
      I had visited the YKK's factory that is located on the west coast of Japan. Their facilities are in the huge complex of factories and everything is organized and clean. They started the company for simple brass fasteners but they grow up as an international who's who company. Thank you again for your interest.

    I have watched at least 10 vids on the ECWCS parka, (not even including gen 1 and 3), and this is by far the best... . I think this Gen 2 is the one for me (although they all have something I want that another does not). First gen was the toughest but heavy and the hood does not store. The liners available aren't as high tech probably. Only available in that jungle camo I think and aging at this point. Gen 2 lighter, Lots of pockets. Gen 3 even lighter I think and has the adjustable back part of the hood which is a damn shame they all do not.. but gen 3 has zero outer pockets.. that's a no for me. I love the Japanese too although sadly I cannot speak it. But it made it more enjoyable, and the captions were excellent. Thank you very much. Anyone feel free to correct anything I got wrong. Good info is good info.

      Thank you, weeral1-san. I'm looking at the Gen3 now but this Gen2 still works good so my purchasing will be a little later. Maybe I should have the inner-layer of Gen3 that is made of the Primaloft for winter camping next time. Putting English captions takes the longest time for my editing video work but I'm happy with that because it brings me friends like you overseas. Thanks again for your comment and please say Hello to Meko for me too. :)

      軍用の物は総合的なバランスとしてはとても優れていると思いますね。重量はあくまでそのアイテムのエレメントの1つですが、ユーザーの中には重量をファースト・プライオリティーに置いている方も多いので、このようなコメントを入れさせていただきました。ヘビー・デューティーですから重量もヘビー(?)になりがちですよということですか(笑)

      GEN1とGEN2の同一サイズの実際の大きさの違いですが、それほど大きくは変わらないと思われます。デザインの関係でGEN1のほうがウエスト回りが若干絞られているようですが、明らかに違うというほどではないようです。

    フィンランド人として、寒いの冬に慣れりました。You can get away with fleece down to 0c, at -20c 3 layers is the minimum. You can use nikwax to make things waterproof, even normal cotton. Sometimes fabric that breathes really well can become too cold at winter if you don't move enough, that's one thing to keep in mind too. To me personally the biggest problem at winter is the gloves, warm ones get wet from sweat and when you stop, they will freeze throughly. At winter nothing is worse than frozen hands, it disables you totally, completely :)

    • @harrysbushcrat
      @harrysbushcrat  Před 6 lety +1

      Thank you for your comment, MinikuiOtoko san!
      Yes, I totally agree with you.I think my comments in this video focused pretty much Japanese mid-land situation.
      In the world of under than negative 20c I should take a full set of ECWCS or decent layers in. I also agree your opinion of gloves about as well. To be honest with you, I have never been able to own the decent useful and comfortable gloves for the work in winter, yet. When the leather gloves get wet it freezes and becoming stiffy.
      The synthetic gloves are not enough strong to handle fire. I'm looking at the gloves No-Mex fabric made but I don't know how it stands in cold weather. If you know any good gloves that are suitable for the outside work in winter please let me know. And I want to review it when I could get.

    • @minikuiotoko
      @minikuiotoko Před 6 lety +1

      I'm as oblivious as you are when it comes down to gloves. I can ride my bikes at -25c with "lobster gloves" but they're not easy to work with and being synthetic, they will get very cold if they freeze.

    • @Tremulousnut
      @Tremulousnut Před 6 lety +1

      Harry I.
      Here's my 2 cents on your issue - It's not easy or cheap to find something that could do everything, like the "Nata (鉈)", and something that could do everything usually can't do it well.
      I think what you need is a good glove liner (to wick moisture), and 2 gloves/mittens to wear over the liner. One set of gloves for wearing while hiking (breathable synthetic), and another set for handling fire when you are at camp (leather, nomex, etc). Nomex gloves designed for winter use (like the NOX-808 gloves) usually have leather palms, so I don't know if you will like it.
      If you are interested in clothing with fire retardant properties, message me. I have a previous generation UBACS that might fit you (since you say large is a bit big for you).

      @@kingnevermore25 I think every product has a certain percentage of problems. Most of the retail products are guaranteed and replaced or refunded by the manufacturer usually but the military surplus isn't because the new one will be supplied to soldiers when they find any trouble with their equipment. Anyhow, my jacket has no trouble with the seaming sections for now. If you want to have a more reliable jacket you should have one from a certain famous apparel brand.

    • @harrysbushcrat
      @harrysbushcrat  Před 10 měsíci

      @@kingnevermore25 I'm not sure but according to my limited knowledge, the TRU-Spec tag is attached to retail products that are made for the retail market originally. It shows the products are made along the military spec. On the other hand, most of the supplies for the military need to save their cost so the manufacturers don't want to provide miscellaneous unnecessary parts as long as they follow the military specifications. They pack their products in a big box at a time so even if it's separated by size there are some wrong sizes in it., lol.

      @@kingnevermore25This level 6 jacket has no heat retaining property basically. I think you need to put some insulation layer on such as a down jacket in the extremely cold weather. ECWCS GEN3 has level 7 which is the Prima-Loft jacket obviously. The Prima-Loft is an insulation material that is eight times warmer than a down. You can wear it under this level 6 jacket.
