He's an artist.. it's his job to throw things at the wall to see what sticks and what doesn't.. that's how they get to know what their audience likes.
Bachana and larho mujhay are indeed the benchmarks of his career but the story wouldn't end there, they are benchmarks in their own genres.
For me, I'd say this is a pretty decent vibe for a long drive on the beachside :)

As you have mentioned he needs to try different style and genre to see what attracts the audience and as a part of the mass this song was something that didn’t vibe well with me and I think I can leave my honest comments here.
Taste in music is subjective, what vibes well with you might not appeal the other set of audience. The uniqueness of bilal’s songs are his lyrics and the lyrics of this song just wasn’t it and I have expressed that. I would never ignore his hard work, as a music lover and his fan I just want to voice out my own perspective
