As I say in the video, I know nothing about the Monster Jam events or Monster trucks in general so apologies for any references missed, etc, but I know a good or bad game when I see one. Which is this? Let's find out.....
You should check out Lee O'Donnell's epic front flip that happened in 2018. I'm not overly into Monster Truck rallies myself but that clip is pure energy.

I have a soft spot in my heart for monster trucks, and I didn’t expect this to be any good, but oh well. It’s nice to know for sure that it isn’t worth it.

Maybe its my eyes or I am just easily pleased, but the graphics whilst not outstanding, look ok to me.

High price is probably the cost of the official license. Kudos for reviewing a game that is hard to relate too. For us a yanks it would probably be hard to evaluate a rugby or cricket game.

I will say polish or no, the concept of riding a monster truck across a rugged open world map sounds like an excellent concept!
I was a co-worker with the people who ported this to the Switch ^^ The issue with the visuals is that it uses Unreal Engine 4 and it scales poorly on Switch. Well most UE4 games did, even though they theoretically work on the Switch you have to always make a lot of cuts in visuals.
Sorry for the tangent but Rise: Race the Future had an update recently that adds split screen multiplayer and a 60fps performance mode.

Ouch! It's a shame no one has remastered or done a sequel to the racing game 'Pure', I adored that on the 360.
Pure was a cool game, especially since it was free with my xbox 360 back in the day lol
Are there any decent Monster Truck games released over the past decade? The last one I got was the first Monster Jam game all the way back in 2007.

Is this any easier and less of a GRIND than the 1st game? Have the load times been improved? Its a cool game but the first one; gets very difficult for the casual racing fans in my family, confusing courses, LONG load times. Might check this on PS5. Switch load times are too long for me.
Went to a monster truck rally, thank god they gave out free earplugs. :) Might wait to see if they do a patch on this one. Cheers guys.

@SwitchUp The part with the missing commentary is the BIGGEST downsite for me if you watch the real monster jam they could have made sooo much more out of this game. like commentary maybe even the ability to WATCH the AI Race the Freestyle Track so you can see how these Scores are Achived. That would be so cool, but in general there is no monster truck game with commentary and it feels so lifeless and blend. such a shame ( btw im from EU) here we dont into that monster truck thing either but ive watched out of curiosity some of there shows here on youtube and realy damn cool stuff. greetings and keep the videos coming :)

It´s sad to see that there isn´t any more new Monster Truck games such as fun like Madness 1, 2 or 64 or even Path of Destruction and Urban Asssault
Floaty physics really should be sorted during play testing. A real shame as any waypoint racing in an open world - such as Smugglers Run or FUEL way back when - could have been great. And wow what that price.... just way too much.

My 6 year old has been asking me about the first one and now this(I think he's had a sneaky run through the eshop...) If they were at a fiver I'd probably say go for it but I don't think I'd be happy paying full whack for them.
I didn’t have much of an interest in this one, but it’s a shame that it isn’t really up to standard for those who might have been interested. Maybe it’ll get a discount sometime though. Thanks for the review.

Literally the only two monster trucks I know are Gravedigger and Bigfoot ._. that's also the full extent of my monster truck knowledge. Eh game looks neat enough for those who are into monster trucks I suppose.
To anyone curious why Americans would watch a Monster Jam show, is that its just clean fun. When you're a kid its cool to see these giant character type trucks jumping through the air and crushing cars. It's something for families to attend like a WWF wrestling show.like "O Boy what are these Americans doing now...", but its mostly

Just get monster truck champions. More polish and is more accurate to the physics. Also its a sim making it more realistic but still...also it looks better.

With the physics being off and some of the track design being punishing for going out of bounds too easily I would say this is a monstrous let down.
I don't think there's been a good monster truck game since Monster Truck Madness in the 90's. Such a shame.

Doesn’t really sound interesting, it’s unfortunate as I have fond memories of monster trucks as a child and of off road racing racing from the Super Nintendo, Baja California.

it actually looks worse than the first one. I got the first one for my little boy who had the rc car the toys and its okay but i got it on sale but he loved it. Fingers crossed in may we can go over border to germany to see the show in frankfurt. And wait for my ears to bleed with him. but this looks worse than first the first is mehhhhhh but if you like the monster trucks on sale its worth it. but this dosent look much diffrence and from video looks worse.

Sad. The hype that could have been generated if this has casting would be awesome. As Glen had said, bland gameplay. Nothing new here, just an addition to the library.
