  • As we all get older we hear the expression "Work Smarter Not Harder" well here it is. Tim got himself a tiller for his tractor so he can till up the gardens quickly and easily! Check it out!

    A tiller makes life much easier and it breaks the soil up better than the disks. I think y'all will enjoy the benefits of it. God bless and have a great week.

    Those tillers are so powerful.
    Every year we think we have picked all the rocks from the garden and then my brother brings the tiller out… 😂

    Wow great job you guys…smarter not harder for sure. It will be cool to see how it does on the gardens you already have established . And hey beats doing it by hand. Our gardens are small and we plan to expand with raised beds.

    You get what you pay for. The gear drive is far better than a chain drive. The way that tiller was hopping around, your chain will stretch or break and the sprockets will get rounded.

    you might consider first breaking up that ground with a subsoiler before rototilling

    Does the trailer work good for your lil tractor? I m trying to buy one just big enough for my new bx1880, yet not toobig for my pickup to haul. I figured a 1 axle trailer would not be strong enough. I just realized after watching that this is a gasoline tractor. I am fairly new to tractors, but never knew they made a gasoline sub-compact tractor. At least newer ones. I know they had gasoline tractors for long time, but when I bought my bx last year, I never heard of gas tractors. All the dealers I went to had diesel, with the exception of a few jd garden tractors, which are a different category.

      I hauled that tractor from northern Illinois all the way down to West Tennessee with no problems at all. That trailer is rated to haul 3500 lbs. The tractor only weighs around 1300 lbs. It tows very well with the tractor on it. I think most of the newer tractors are diesel. This gas Cub Cadet tractor works good for what we need it to do. We got this tractor at a ridiculously low price and couldn't pass it up.

      I just assumed a single axle was really limited, but 3500 lbs aint bad. Just what I need.

      @@BigDsHomestead it works great. I use it all the time for my tractor and I can fit both my 4 wheelers on it too. It tows very well ever since I bought it. I have zero complaints about this trailer.

    Hows the tiller holding up? Would you recommend it?

    • @BlueCollarHomestead
      @BlueCollarHomestead  Před 4 měsíci +1

      I've had it for a couple years now and haven't had any issues with it at all. Works awesome like it should! I would definitely recommend it! Way easier than tilling by hand!

      Did you try playing with the settings and see how a shallower depth does? It kind of looked like it was getting too much of a bite for the initial sod layer.

      Haven't messed with the depth settings. If I decide to make a shallow pass I might just not lower the 3 point hitch all the way. It does do a pretty good job the way it is not sure I wanna mess with it.
