Seeing those numbers in a pie chart was excellent! It really does put things in perspective. And yes, you have to be prepared to say no to everything except what really matters. Keeping track of screen time can be especially helpful (and humbling): the amount of time you spend in Xcode versus Safari or Messages or Ivory or whatever is a good measure of how serious you are.
Yep, time tracking can be big eye opening moment for many of us who are "working" for 10+ hour in a day.
I need to learn to manage my time; this is amazing
Oh wow, a time budget is a genius idea! 💡
We have our time limits and putting them in spreadsheet or just planning on paper helps to be more intentional.
at first your content felt a bit odd to me, but now this what I love the most about it. It's calming, real, and motivating at the same time.
Thank you for the video, found it helpful in my planning.
That’s a pretty cool video. Seems obvious but somethings we don’t do the obvious things. What mean by that, at least for me, when I have the visual representation (pie chart, for instance) make things clear and easy to understand the pros and cons of anything. Really cool content and channel. Subscribed!!!
Struggling with time for Side hustle and starting CZcams. This was very helpful
Thanks for sharing! A very helpful and clever example of time management. I definitely need to apply it in my life as well.
Glad it was helpful!
Nice video! Thanks for sharing about focusing and time blocking. I think I should give this a try soon.
I guess this can be helpful to figure out priorities & goals vs reality of available time. Helps me to overcommit little bit less :)
Thanks for the vid. Very helpful to see how you plan your week. Time tracking vid would be nice! 👍 Would love to see that!
Adding the backlog of the video topics. Thanks!
Great video Aivars. It's a good approach to look at what you do from different angles and decide what are your priorities and goals for the future. A spreadsheet with hours in a day/week was such a powerful thing and when I've added up everything what I would like to do I was almost 2 days short in a week :D
That's the problem with todo lists, you can make them very long and then feel bad that didn't check out half of planned even if that wasn't realistically possible :)
congrats for 30k subs
🙌
Thanks a lot, for such a useful video!
Glad it was helpful!
Planning, planning is the key
I’m gonna focus for sure and set out my goals thanks for all that you do and your advice as an iOS developer you’re channel rocks that why I’m focus on iOS development now instead of C# it’s fun especially when vision OS hit next year
Best of luck!
I doubt I will get my hands on vision OS hardware anytime soon. everything coming late to Latvia, but I would like to play around with it as well.
@@AivarsMeijers thanks my friend and hopefully they will send the Apple Vision Pro near you to play around with I heard they were basically sending them to apple labs or apple locations around the world for users to test out and experience hopefully they will stop at Latvia 😎
I am trying to learn iOS development and your content is the source of my motivation.
When i watch any of your videos i an telling myself that i wanna be like you so i guess you became my role model.
Thank you! Happy to hear that!
Subscribed. :)
Life started as a Full-stack Web Developer with Java, life journey brought me to the back-end. Now I'm helping developers with their CI/CD and the IT for their servers.
Why I subscribed? Interested how this dude started as a carpenter and his thoughts on why he focused on iOS (focused on iPhone) apps.
This dude has show attention spawn and switching carers every few years :)
Carpenter > soldier > policeman > bartender > field technician > project/product manager > product director > iOS developer > content creator
If this is not screaming ADHD idk what it is :D
Thanks for the sub, hope you will keep enjoying content!
Thanks for the amazing videos. I think you should mention about your course briefly in your videos, I was not aware that you’ve a course..
Thanks, will do!
2:05, holy shiiiieeet. NASA desk. How do u manage dust there?:)))
nice video!
Thanks!
Great break down, you right about the time and planning.
Even we can not be 100% on it, it's good to have a plan and priorities, clear goals and expectations.
I am wondering, how is your media presence help you with finding freelance?
Thanks Alex!
For a last few years I'm working on long time contracts. So, I do not jump between projects often and it is hard to say how much online presence would help.
thank you for not making that typical "I get up at 3 AM" bs. though it could have added few more hours to the day 😂
Getting up at 3 or 4 can help, but only if you need to improve schedule.
I did that for a while, to learn and work before day job, but I was in a bed early as well. You have to get whatever sleeping hours your body needs and usually it is about 7h
Nice technique, to figure things out. If you look at 6:00 revenue vs scheduled time, it seems pretty obvious to lower freelance (40h) in favor of indie (8h average so far?). More risk, but with 30h freelance, you are still on the safe side.
Current freelance project is full time consultant agreement. So it is 40h or nothing.
I like the team and product, don't want to drop that just to find another, part time project.
@@AivarsMeijersAh ok, expected there is some room for negotiation.
Really helpful advice, thank you Aivars ❤
Glad it was helpful!
0:40 - For a second, I read that t-shirt text wrong. 🙈
Not sure, imo cutting IG & short videos might play back because they are still part of the personal branding and “algorithm”, aren’t they?
Might look tempting to save time there but could play back negatively on the big picture which is harder to calculate in a simple way.
I'm not dropping IG completely, but unlikely I will do well edited and long videos for it and YT shorts.
If you will check my Reels, you will see that last day in a life or microphone review are on 11 and 19K views. The clip where I'm pouring coffee in the cup has about 20K views.
Shorts on YT generate views, but do not add much subs so, that mostly is a fun way to waste a bit of time :)
Do you smell candles all the time? I feel the smell only in the first minutes, and then I get used to it.
Do they smell? :)
I can't smell a shit, so I just like how they looks like.
+ on making time tracking one)
👌
Bonus tip: Not watching youtube videos 24/7 helps 😅
Yeh! That's my biggest time waste.
