- Come with me to Suffolk, as I tackle a trail half marathon organised by the Norfolk and Suffolk group of the Long Distance Walking Association.
This run is all about enjoying time in the surprisingly varied countryside of East Suffolk. And along the way we’ll find out interesting stuff - like why 2/3 of the population of Needham Market died in the 1600s and what an Osier bed was for!
I’m a middle-aged, UK trail runner who enjoys the countryside - why not come along with me as I explore new places and find out interesting stuff about them?
If you have any suggestions for runs I might try, or locations to explore, I’d love to hear from you - I always read all the comments on my videos.

lots of interesting small turnings with the potential to miss them, good job you had a watch. i particularly like the corn fields. well done.
@@mijzzzz Thank you! Yes, that was the challenge of a self-guided run (rather than fully signed and marshalled). I liked that - once I had got past the checkpoint, and so the time pressure was off, so I could enjoy my surroundings!
Another great video. I ran/walked the LDWA Hannington 26 mile Hike in March, it was a lot of fun.
Thanks Dean - yes, I certainly plan to do more!
I did the 31.5 mile, it was ok if not a bit hot, the scenery was lovely on the 30 mile route, I got another 30 miler in 2 weeks, which is training for a 50miler in September, so hopefully I recover well
@@thomassauka Yes, I saw! I watched your video yesterday while I was waiting for this one to upload! Small world! Good luck for your future runs!
I’m confused, if you walked/ran, how did you only just get to the checkpoint if it was an event for walkers? 🤔
@@jasonlee3247 Sorry - it was a staggered start - the 13 mile walkers started a hour before I did, so they had 2.5 hours for seven miles, whereas I had 1.5 hours! Does that help?
@@julianberry I started the 30 miler at 8am because they told me too even though I said I was a runner, it was correct as I made it to the first checkpoint after it had opened, so worked out well
