Joining wires with tape like that is beyond stupid. Can’t believe the manufacturer give this advice.
Use crimp joiners or better yet solder them together and heat shrink sleeve them. And when using crimps to connect the fuse tap use a proper crimp tool not regular pliers. Always use the correct tool for the job. You wouldn’t use a hammer to put a screw in would you?! Well maybe this chap might

I just love my Thinkware dash camera.
I love our Thinkware dash cams...in both cars we have 2-channel U1000, radar, and iVolt.
The quality of the images is awesome and having the iVolt protects our cars' batteries. The radar extends the parking mode to up to 24 days.

Your other video you tapped into a 10A fuse. This one you say 20A and the manual says 15A . Which one is it and why?

Should be lower fuse because that way it will blow first protecting your car fuse
I have a Vantrue N4 dashcam can I use the ivolt mini as the separate battery feed, concerned because the output cable has a separate battery wire as well as the ACC but my dashcam hardwire kit only has the ACC and earth, advice appreciated

I was just checking a website to buying the whole lot and it stated at bottom the OBD2 wire is not compatible with the ivolt mini
With the iVolt Mini installed, do I change the U3000 setting to enable "external battery"? There's a warning that it may drain car's battery.
Hi there! Yes, this option should be enabled only if you have an iVolt as your main power source. The vehicle battery won't be drained as long as this is enabled only if an external battery is available.

@@abdulkarim74 That defeats the whole point of the external battery. Just get a bigger one if you have issues. I got mine and hooked it up on a relay so that there is no way it can touch my actual battery. I would hate to come out to a car with a dead battery.

You can try lowering you voltage cut off threshold.

Hi There, unfortunately, the iVolt battery can only be wired with the hardwiring cable or dedicated 12V cigarette port.
I have been thinking long and hard about purchasing the U1000 and the battery for my car.
I think it will be the right choice for me. but seeing the installation here scares me. for a professional install. using razor to strip wires, not soldering and using Heatshrink. are just 2 of the things that I find wrong with this install video. and if I paid for install and saw that. I would demand my money back and have it un-installed.
just my opinion but thats me.. I know how to install. and things like that give installers a bad name.

Hi Milton, unfortunately, the iVolt battery doesn't offer bluetooth connection.
The only problem with the battery pack is you have drive for at least 45 mins every day to fully charge it. I drive for 5 mins and then park the car for 6 to 8 hours. I am lucky to get 5 hours out of it with my 2ch U1000. With each day I will get less. They should have factored that in an made it so it could be charged from home.

We understand the frustration of the required 45Minute charging period. We recommend using the parking mode option called, energy savings! Energy savings will allow you to use parking mode for a longer period of time, even with the battery not being fully charged.

Seriously, requiring damaging the hard wiring kit and using tape to join them is a stupid official way. If I installed it like this, I can't return the item already, according to your T&C.
As least they are both your products, can't you do better than that? Why make it like a life hack stuff?

Can’t you just make a hardwired kit for the battery? So stupid to ask customers to splice wires and wrap in electrical tape
