      American regimental standards weren't really standardized back then, they kind of made it up as they went along. The striped flag is a variation of the "Sons of Liberty" flag.
      Quite a few were used like that, but typically there were thirteen stripes.
      The British called that kind of flag "The rebel stripes."

      Thanks! I am irish from the province of Ulster. I have read the irish regiments had St Patrick's day parades. Do any of you know if that's true?

    • @wayneantoniazzi2706
      @wayneantoniazzi2706 Před 2 lety

      @@vincentlavery3520 Yes, it's true, in both the British and American armies. In fact, here in the US there was a group called "The Friendly Sons of Saint Patrick," George Washington was invited to join when a member of the Continental Congress in 1774 and did, even though he wasn't Irish.
      Washington had an Irishman on his staff named Stephen Moylan, a Philadelphia businessman who was born in Cork. Moylan chafed a bit as a paper-shuffler and was eventually given a regiment of dragoons, which suited him just fine. The Irish DO love the horses!

    I hope it's not stupid to ask, I understand that that little boy drummer is just enthusiast...
    But in historical armies i can imagine they did might use boy drummers? Is possible that such children experienced the warfare? Like in navy the powder monkeys

      @@theblackcockade3605 in the Napoleonic Penninsular War the British used children as drummer boys so perhaps they started to use them so more men could fight? I think they also used to use them to whip men on punishment as a small act of mercy.

    I'm sorry, what the hell was that! The British had the fortified high ground, the yanks were in the open, the British were fireing volley after volley and only 2 yanks dropped. Why is it that the supposed 'good guys' never take their hits! Also what the hell happened on the right flank. The British ran from a bayonet charge of like 15 men, with none going down despite volley after volley going in to them! By rights they should have been done with just a couple of volleys. But of course I'm forgetting that the 'bad guys' must loose at all costs to realism.
