Tha train station scene absolutely broke me first time I watched. My mom and I grew up in similar conditions. She tried her best as a single mom doing it on her own. Once when I was 5/6 we got evicted from our apartment. We had no family, no friends we could reach out to. We were homeless, but she wanted to shield me from our reality. So instead she told me we were going “camping.” And we spent a few nights outdoors sleeping in a single sleeping bag. I remember being so excited because we’d never been camping before. But I didn’t realize until years later we were actually sleeping behind some bushes at a local playground.
She did her best to preserve my childhood and I’ll always be grateful for it

I grew up extremely low income and spent a decent portion of my life homeless.
I lived in over 20 homeless shelters before I was 12 years old and was homeless from 2008-2013.
Any time something good happened it felt like five more things decided to kick me when I was down.
Things could always be better but I have a reliable job now and have been working in IT for ~10 years. This movie has always resonated for me in so many ways.

For whatever reason people like us are being tested. There are way too many coincidences making things worse just as they start to get better. Now I have accepted it. It’s the hope that makes it so hard ya know? After accepting my lot in life I have found some peace. I wish you luck man.

Great reaction Stef. What this movie points out is that we do need shelters for men or should I say more. I get the point for women, but it seems to me there more resources for women than men sadly.
The resiliency of Chris is amazing. He never lost hope which is great.
This hit home for me as my father got injured on railroad, but my mother didn't leave she worked more hours until my dad's disability and settlement came through. She loved my dad and me very much. She never made my dad feel like less of man for not being able to work and in fact she was reason my dad was able to walk again as the hospital told him with his back injury he wouldn't walk and if he did it would only be with support aka a cane. My dad fought through it and ended up walking without cane. He was still slow, but with my mom's love and support she helped him through this. Then fast forward my mother got cancer and my dad ended up carrying her back and forth to bathroom until finally she had to be admitted to hospice. My mom always called my dad her angel and my dad called my mom the love of his life. This is how you should struggle. Together and inspire each other.

I watched this movie so many times over the years. I know all about growing up poor, huddling around the one space heater, wearing a lot of sweaters, playing on a tire in the backyard like it was a swingset, eating a lot of food out of cans. Then just recently I had to leave my job due to my PTSD worsening and couldn't find a new job anywhere in the entire state. I sold everything I owned, borrowed what I could, and eventually just resigned myself to the fact that I was going to be homeless in a matter of weeks. But instead of getting hired as a stockbroker, I received a claim decision from the VA that I was rated 100% disabled and would be receiving paychecks for the rest of my life for 3 times more a month than I had ever made. After I checked and double checked to make sure there wasn't a mistake or I wasn't reading it wrong, I let myself cry like I had just beaten cancer. I too finally felt happiness as all the financial stress that I had carried for 40 years was suddenly lifted off my shoulders.

6:52 I dated a girl once who could solve a Rubix cube in under 20 seconds no matter how it was jumbled. What I didnt know is that there is a very specific formula. It was something like make sure yellow is in the top left corner on one side, and twist, twist twist, and she had it done. You just have to learn the formula. Fun fact. It's like Tic Tac Toe. If the person who goes first marks center and one corner in the first total three moves, it's impossible to lose.

This was during the period WS did movies that weren't just action flicks - another one would be 7-pounds.

No nos gusta verte llorar. Es solo que cuando lo haces realmente transmites las emociones o cuando sonríes también se nota tu alegría entonces hace que tus reacciones sean increíbles 😉😉😉

Great reaction to a great movie… I subscribed because of this reaction…. I just wanted to say the scene in the bathroom has to be in my eyes and maybe others the most touching, hard and emotionally draining to watch. In my book it’s one of the best scenes in film making. When the person is knocking on the door and not one word is spoken and the look on will’s face, that was not acting… the top camera view with him on the floor, gets me all the time such a hard scene.

Too bad Hollywood (went all Hollywood) on this story… There is a lot of truth is the movie, but….. Hollywood left out the fact that his wife left him because he beat her and she took their son with her when she left. Yes he was homeless and yes he did make big money in the end, but the real dude was a total POS and should not have been glamorized in this light. He never had his son with him when he was homeless.

Fathers....good fathers...are the real life heroes in our world. It's tragic that our society today instead of cherishing them happily discards them like they're this week's trash.

Movie shows the injustice. Turned away from a shelter because he's a man. His lady leaves, because she's like all the rest. For better or bail, not for better or worse. They only ever think of their own happiness.
