For a more rounded version try Wacken 2013 when she had been with them 10 months. By the way the reason the crowd was chanting Floor at the end was because previous singer couldn't perform this one although a favourite !!
Floor Jansen is a vocal athlete with incredible range, agility, versatility, vocal stamina, and stage presence. She is a soprano with a range of more than three octaves (D3 to F6). It is apparent when listening to her sing that she has spent the better part of her life fine-tuning her instrument with help from several vocal coaches. Floor can sing in multiple languages and genres and is a vocal coach herself. It is incredible how she is able to take any song and make it her own. Actually, Floor did exactly the same in her own reaction, released this week, to her Wacken 2013 performance of Ghost Love Score. She concentrates on her singing parts. Granted I prefer to listen to the whole performance, but I still enjoyed the reaction. Even the parts of softer minimal music. Reason being many of us would like to see your full journey and those parts are there as part of the journey. Floor Jansen explains on her CZcams channel some of her skills in interesting Vocal Masterclasses. Also there are other videos to watch such as chats with her idols and other singers, mindblowing covers and so much more. Just unpack some of the presents she left there. To see how Floor developed her versatility check out her former bands 'After Forever' (my favourite song is 'Energize Me', there is a beautiful official music video out there) and 'Revamp'. Here she experimented with different sounds within one song including serious growling. The songs 'Disdain' and 'Wild Card' are good examples. In her side project 'Northward' she went into hardrock. The song 'While Love Died' is a must see. Her stunning performances on the Dutch TV show 'Beste Zangers 2019' gave her at last some more recognition in her home country where she was relatively unknown until then. As some have already suggested, definitely check out this song (and others) from the Wacken 2013 concert. Floor had been with the band for a bit longer by then and improved a lot. Also the sound mixers at Wacken are extremely good. You can't go wrong with any song from that concert. It's legendary.
Agree, he focused on the singing. For most fans, vocal coach reactions are really appreciated when it is not just net technicalities. See The Charismatic Voice or Julia Nylon. Singing is also about projecting song meaning and a blended team effort. What kind of vocal coach reactor do you want to be? I sometimes think it is an awkwardness, being afraid to confront the viewers with too much music... when the core business is Voice. Don't be ashamed to immerse the music as well and stand for it!
This isn't the first "vocal coach" to skip instrumental parts so they can get to the vocals. Vocal coach's don't necessarily have an interest in the musical instruments or other band members unless there are harmonies. I can understand parts of this song being fast-forwarded so that Matt could talk about what he does know a thing or two about -the Vocals. I don't think his channel is about him being entertaining rather it's more to do with his personal analysis, pausing during a solo or stopping during a sentence is only a sin if you are an actual fan of the music. There is no right or wrong when it comes to a music reaction or vocal coach reaction video. There are no definite rules yet people think it's ok to tell someone else like Matt, how to run his own channel?? We don't have to watch particular people/channels/or videos we don't like, for a Vocal Coach with 125K in subs I think he's doing quite well without other people's recommendations. Hey Matt! I'm sorry to bug, but I had a quick question for you. So, I'm a Contralto. I'm honestly not too good with singing yet as I just started taking it more seriously just a few days ago. I've never visited a vocal coach before or had any kind training. Unfortunately, visiting one/getting professional training just isn't an option for me and I don't see that changing in the future. What I've been trying to do is look up videos on Contraltos. Like, warm-up exercises, songs, etc. I'm pretty much in the dark though, so, do you have any tips on how I can improve when I'm my only real judge? My main issues so far is sounding monotonous/flat, too airy/breathy and feeling quite constricted in various pitches. Thank you and God bless!

Floor Jansen apart from being one of the best singers and most versatile singers in the world is also a vocal coach. I'm kinda glad you did this earlier Buenos Aires. Crowd interaction and camera on floor are better, you can hear the choir track. You really should however ditch the volume dampening when you speak. Some few people will hear this for the first time with you and that volume suppression really ruins the flow.
I couldn’t agree more about guitar solos, I should be able to tell what song the solo is from, I want the musical themes of the song worked into the solo, it should have a melody in it not just speed and shred for their own sake

Although I understand very well you runs a vocals oriented channel it feels like you disrespect the band composer and other musicians by skipping instrumental parts of the song. GLS is written like a symphony, a score. So I would recommend next times you at least listen to the songs as a whole and finds out what the different parts has to say about message of the composition and learn to respect the composer who’s Tuomas Holopainen. BTW the live version at Wacken Open Air festival 2013 is even more impressive. You just heard Floor Jansen (pronounce Yahn-Sen) she is Nightwish 3rd female vocalist. Floor was born on Februari 21st, 1981 in the Netherlands. At the age of 16 she started her career as (initially) just as background singer from the Dutch metal band ‘After Forever’ in 1997 but real soon she took over the lead until early 2009 and the band fell apart. Parallel she studied at the Rock Academy in Tilburg starting in 1999 where she graduated in 2003 and spent two years on classical training with the National Conservatory. Her vocalrange runs from E3 to D6. In addition to her activities at After Forever, she gave singing lessons. She plays guitar, piano and flute. On May 5, 2010, she presented her new band ‘ReVamp’, which was disbanded in September 2016. In August 2010 Jansen was a guest in the TV program De tiende van Tijl. In that program she sang an aria by Puccini. From October 1, 2012 Jansen replaced Anette Olzon as the singer of Nightwish halfway their Imaginaerum World Tour. On October 9, 2013, it was announced that she was to become the group's regular new front singer. Nightwish, After Forever and ReVamp worked under the same Nuclear Blast record label.
I'm a bit late to the party, but it was cool seeing you react to Nighwish! Floor is one of my favorite singers. Her versatility is always amazing to me. With the skipping, definitely DO NOT do the other two epic pieces Poet and the Pendulum and Greatest Show on Earth. Nightwish is not your normal band. The Army will tolerate pauses for analysis even repeated run backs to point out something, but skipping is concidered massively disrespectful to Tuomas' composition and the rest of the band members.

2 or 3 can be interpreted as a little rude... the rest of them just clearly show disappointment. Most views will be from fans... you don't need to sell your soul to them but it can help to adjust the method a bit. There are great vocal coaches spending their attention on the whole experience in which the voice can shine.
He in fact skipped the operatic staccatos that Floor performed before the ending section of the song. This was meaningful from a vocal technique perspective and I therefore I disliked the video. I also disliked it because to me it is important for an actual analysis to understand the context of what is being singed. Skipping parts of the song is not something I would congratulate about. So I want to let know the author this is not something I liked... I don't think I'm being rude by explaining the reason behind my dislike.
Skipping through the interlude is disrespectful (at best) to them and to us. You are just killing the whole vibe. The first part you skipped is recorded by the London Philharmonic Orchestra and it is a brilliant piece of composition. Without it, the second part of the song does not build and climax as intended. Every part of a Nightwish composition is meticulously planned and executed and has its own place. I get it that this is a voice reaction channel but a word of advise for future Nightwish reactions: we ( The Nightwish Army) are very loyal and very welcoming bunch but very particular about the songs. Please, take the time and have the patience to go through the songs without skipping. Some of them are 20 minutes long but not a second of those minutes is unnecessary. Cheers.

About the skipping, I would indeed advise you to stop it, it ruins the experience for most of us. We do not want a "lesson" with some "parts" of a specific song as an example. We are interested in your reaction in a song that we know and love while appreciating all the comments and the teachable moments you might choose to do.
Skipping?!...Ooh la la..big no no (hence the thumbs down ratio). Tuomas Holopainen creates meticulous works of art. There isn't a note out of place, the cadence and emotion of the composition depends on hearing the entirety of the piece.

You must mean the synth played by the London Philharmonic Orcestra, London's Metro Voices, and the London Young Musicians Children's Choir, yes? The one that you disrespected by skipping most of the intermezzo they were playing? Then cut out a load more showing stage presence and crowd interraction of the singer you are supposedly analysing the performance of? This is when Floor had only been with the band for 2 months having had 48 hours to learn the complete set in the middle of their tour. For a more rounded version try Wacken 2013 when she had been with them 10 months. By the way the reason the crowd was chanting Floor at the end was because previous singer couldn't perform this one although a favourite !!

Floor Jansen is a vocal athlete with incredible range, agility, versatility, vocal stamina, and stage presence. She is a soprano with a range of more than three octaves (D3 to F6). It is apparent when listening to her sing that she has spent the better part of her life fine-tuning her instrument with help from several vocal coaches. Floor can sing in multiple languages and genres and is a vocal coach herself. It is incredible how she is able to take any song and make it her own. This woman is a true gift to her craft and an incredible addition to a band that has always been great until 2013 when they officially hired the undisputed Queen of Metal Floor Jansen, making Nightwish the greatest band on the planet.

Welcome to the world of symphonic metal! And thank you for checking this legendary band, performing here at Buenos Aires in 2012, together with Floor Jansen, the 3rd and present female singer of the band, in front of a wild Argentinian audience. Just a "small" fact: at that moment, Floor Jansen was in the band for only about two and a half months, joining them in the middle of a world tour, after a 48 hours notice.
Also a recent sad news - these days Marco Hietala, the bass player and male singer of the band, announced his retirement both from the band and the public life for the next year at least - we'll see what the future brings to us.
About the instrumental and vocal added parts - it's good to know they recorded their orchestral and vocal back tracks with prestigious institutions as London Philharmonic Orchestra. London's The Metro Voices choir group and London's Young Musicians Children's Choir as their regular partners.
As I saw, you enjoyed the powerful performance of the band, together with the stellar vocals of our Dutch metal queen, Floor Jansen. Hope you'll continue on this path.
Since this is your first Nightwish reaction, it is my duty to give you the short history of the band concentrated by Ann Waychoff, one of the biggest Nightwish fan who has since passed away (and I am doing this in her memory):
" Nightwish was started in 1996.They are considered a Symphonic Metal band, with a female main singer. They are from Finland.
Tuomas Holopainen, the keyboard player, composes and writes the lyrics for 95% of their music. Marco Hietala is the Bassist and vocals .And there is the guitarist Emppu Vuorinen . Then there is Troy Donockley from UK who is a multi-instrumentalist and vocals. Jukka Nevalainen is the drummer. In 2015 due to Jukka's health issues Kai Hahto became the drummer and as of now is a permanent addition.
Nightwish has had three singers. 1st one was Tarja Turunen (Operatic vocals). She was with them until 2005. The 2nd one was Anette Olzon from Sweden (Poppy, strong vocals). She was with them until 2012.The 3rd and current singer is Floor Jansen, from Netherlands (power, operatic, soprano.....most versatile) - you just heard her.
There are live concerts that you should use depending on what era. From Wishes to Eternity and End of an Era (Tarja), Montreux Festival live 2012 and Exit Festival (Anette), Live at Wacken 2013, Live at Wembley, Live at Tampere, Vehicle of Spirit, Decades live (Floor). I hope this helps.

He probably thought we wanted to see him react to the vocals mostly. He is a vocal coach after all. I like to listen to it but I won't et butthurt because I didn't hear it for the 1001st time lol. If he didn't listen to the instrumental then I would be annoyed but it appears he just cut it for us.
Actually, Floor did exactly the same in her own reaction, released this week, to her Wacken 2013 performance of Ghost Love Score. She concentrates on her singing parts. Granted I prefer to listen to the whole performance, but I still enjoyed the reaction. I'm sure he now knows to play the full performances in the future! ;-)

Floor Jansen explains on her CZcams channel some of her skills in interesting Vocal Masterclasses. Also there are other videos to watch such as chats with her idols and other singers, mindblowing covers and so much more. Just unpack some of the presents she left there. To see how Floor developed her versatility check out her former bands 'After Forever' (my favourite song is 'Energize Me', there is a beautiful official music video out there) and 'Revamp'. Here she experimented with different sounds within one song including serious growling. The songs 'Disdain' and 'Wild Card' are good examples. In her side project 'Northward' she went into hardrock. The song 'While Love Died' is a must see. Her stunning performances on the Dutch TV show 'Beste Zangers 2019' gave her at last some more recognition in her home country where she was relatively unknown until then. To see her in complete opera mode watch her rendition of 'Mio Babbino Caro' by Puccini. There are also numerous guest appearances with other bands to find on CZcams. Floorgasm alert!

As some have already suggested, definitely check out this song (and others) from the Wacken 2013 concert. Floor had been with the band for a bit longer by then and improved a lot. Also the sound mixers at Wacken are extremely good. You can't go wrong with any song from that concert. It's legendary.

Agree, he focused on the singing. For most fans, vocal coach reactions are really appreciated when it is not just net technicalities. See The Charismatic Voice or Julia Nylon. Singing is also about projecting song meaning and a blended team effort. What kind of vocal coach reactor do you want to be? I sometimes think it is an awkwardness, being afraid to confront the viewers with too much music... when the core business is Voice. Don't be ashamed to immerse the music as well and stand for it!
This isn't the first "vocal coach" to skip instrumental parts so they can get to the vocals.
Vocal coach's don't necessarily have an interest in the musical instruments or other band members unless there are harmonies.
I can understand parts of this song being fast-forwarded so that Matt could talk about what he does know a thing or two about -the Vocals. I don't think his channel is about him being entertaining rather it's more to do with his personal analysis, pausing during a solo or stopping during a sentence is only a sin if you are an actual fan of the music.
There is no right or wrong when it comes to a music reaction or vocal coach reaction video. There are no definite rules yet people think it's ok to tell someone else like Matt, how to run his own channel??

Hey Matt! I'm sorry to bug, but I had a quick question for you.
So, I'm a Contralto. I'm honestly not too good with singing yet as I just started taking it more seriously just a few days ago. I've never visited a vocal coach before or had any kind training. Unfortunately, visiting one/getting professional training just isn't an option for me and I don't see that changing in the future.
What I've been trying to do is look up videos on Contraltos. Like, warm-up exercises, songs, etc. I'm pretty much in the dark though, so, do you have any tips on how I can improve when I'm my only real judge?
My main issues so far is sounding monotonous/flat, too airy/breathy and feeling quite constricted in various pitches. Thank you and God bless!

At one time everyone reacted to the Wacken 2013 GLS, all of a sudden most new reactors are reacting to the Buenos Aires concert, I wonder why?
They're both labelled "OFFICIAL LIVE" on the Nuclear Blast Records channel, so I guess to someone new they both look like legit choices. Plus the BA video is slightly older.
That'always turns me down.. nothing against the BA show, but if the reaction is not on Wacken 13, I don't even start.

You really should however ditch the volume dampening when you speak. Some few people will hear this for the first time with you and that volume suppression really ruins the flow.

Although I understand very well you runs a vocals oriented channel it feels like you disrespect the band composer and other musicians by skipping instrumental parts of the song. GLS is written like a symphony, a score. So I would recommend next times you at least listen to the songs as a whole and finds out what the different parts has to say about message of the composition and learn to respect the composer who’s Tuomas Holopainen. BTW the live version at Wacken Open Air festival 2013 is even more impressive.
You just heard Floor Jansen (pronounce Yahn-Sen) she is Nightwish 3rd female vocalist. Floor was born on Februari 21st, 1981 in the Netherlands. At the age of 16 she started her career as (initially) just as background singer from the Dutch metal band ‘After Forever’ in 1997 but real soon she took over the lead until early 2009 and the band fell apart. Parallel she studied at the Rock Academy in Tilburg starting in 1999 where she graduated in 2003 and spent two years on classical training with the National Conservatory. Her vocalrange runs from E3 to D6. In addition to her activities at After Forever, she gave singing lessons. She plays guitar, piano and flute. On May 5, 2010, she presented her new band ‘ReVamp’, which was disbanded in September 2016. In August 2010 Jansen was a guest in the TV program De tiende van Tijl. In that program she sang an aria by Puccini. From October 1, 2012 Jansen replaced Anette Olzon as the singer of Nightwish halfway their Imaginaerum World Tour. On October 9, 2013, it was announced that she was to become the group's regular new front singer.

With the skipping, definitely DO NOT do the other two epic pieces Poet and the Pendulum and Greatest Show on Earth. Nightwish is not your normal band. The Army will tolerate pauses for analysis even repeated run backs to point out something, but skipping is concidered massively disrespectful to Tuomas' composition and the rest of the band members.

And again too many rude complaints from so-called fans about cuts/skipping, treating this like it's sacrilegious to do so. This is a video about vocal technique, not a react video to the song people. Go watch the video yourselves if you want to hear the full song.
2 or 3 can be interpreted as a little rude... the rest of them just clearly show disappointment.
Most views will be from fans... you don't need to sell your soul to them but it can help to adjust the method a bit. There are great vocal coaches spending their attention on the whole experience in which the voice can shine.
He in fact skipped the operatic staccatos that Floor performed before the ending section of the song. This was meaningful from a vocal technique perspective and I therefore I disliked the video. I also disliked it because to me it is important for an actual analysis to understand the context of what is being singed. Skipping parts of the song is not something I would congratulate about. So I want to let know the author this is not something I liked... I don't think I'm being rude by explaining the reason behind my dislike.

Skipping through the interlude is disrespectful (at best) to them and to us. You are just killing the whole vibe. The first part you skipped is recorded by the London Philharmonic Orchestra and it is a brilliant piece of composition. Without it, the second part of the song does not build and climax as intended. Every part of a Nightwish composition is meticulously planned and executed and has its own place. I get it that this is a voice reaction channel but a word of advise for future Nightwish reactions: we ( The Nightwish Army) are very loyal and very welcoming bunch but very particular about the songs. Please, take the time and have the patience to go through the songs without skipping. Some of them are 20 minutes long but not a second of those minutes is unnecessary. Cheers.

Skipping?!...Ooh la la..big no no (hence the thumbs down ratio). Tuomas Holopainen creates meticulous works of art. There isn't a note out of place, the cadence and emotion of the composition depends on hearing the entirety of the piece.

Sorry I Disliked this because you cut many parts of the song, including one where Floor was performing awesome operatic staccatos that were potentially meaningful for your audience.
