I love disney! I love all their classics. I watched their movies as a kid again and again and I still do that every once in a while. But there is one movie which, I remember as a kid, made me feel very uncomfortable. That was 'Pinocchio'. Turns out a lot of people felt that way. Cause it wasn't just another classic fairytale, a simple colorful journey. It was darker, more real. So the first time I tried to watch it, I turned the tv off. It made me sad, I was worried about that puppet so much.
Many years later, I told myself I need to watch it. So I sat down and put on that one Disney film I hadn't watched. And I liked it. I enjoyed that movie for what it was. One of the finest, most technical movies of its time. The side characters were interesting and what I found uncomfortable as I kid did not have the same effect on me now.
A while later, I visited Disneyland hotel at Disneyland in Paris. Right next to the reception room I found a display of puppets, figures of Disney characters. Amongst them, was a Pinocchio puppet which I found so cute. I told myself right away I had to make one. A few months later, I started working on it.
So here is a short video, a small part of a much longer 'making of' video I will be posting later this year. Hope you enjoy this as much as I enjoy having this little puppet in my living room.
