As a Leicester fan watching this it makes me feel sick. I remember the game, I remember the news breaking of Vichai and I remember the feeling around the City. The most heartwarming thing after the tragedy was seeing people travel from all over the country to leave shirts outside of the King Power.

You can name quite a few famous and non-famous people who have died in a helicopter crash in recent years. It really puts you off getting into one.
If I were in that privilege position to obtain a helicopter, I wouldn't get one nor fly in one.
It’s genuinely sad that many celebrities and athletes have died in aircraft accidents. Because it is very difficult to enhance the safety because it’s as it’s peak.
@@loganfindlay9167 While that's true, remember many more regular normal people have died in planes and copters and everyone just gets on with it. 15 more people just died in a plane crash this morning in Russia. They won't get the same outpouring like the Leicester City owner did.
It doesn’t put me off getting into one. Think about the ratio of flights to crashes. 0.84 hours of flights in a helicopter out of 100,000 hours in the recent year have had a emergency.

Poor Jake didn’t know what to say and was aware of the seriousness of the situation, but he took so long to actually say what had happened!

He was live and there were probably flames and smoke just behind him. He also had to give context for people who just joined ffs. His reaction was appropriate and very human - not overly dramatic. He did a great job in the circs.

Unbelievable to think that moments later everyone in that helicopter was dead.
Extremely sad.
Such a wonderful owner and (along with Claudio Ranieri) gave the world the most extraordinary fairytale with Leicester winning the Premier League.
Also the fact that after seeing the Helicopter crash to the ground, Kasper Schmeichel ran to the Helicopter to try to help people with no care for his own safety highlights what a phenomenal human being he is. People are quick to scrutinise Footballers because they get paid a lot of money, but they're human beings...and Kasper deserves eternal respect for his actions.
Give Kasper Schmeichel a raise, a bravery award.

Genuinely one of the saddest days in football, a gentleman was taken who cared about his club. We don’t see them everyday, but we are glad to have had them for their brief ownership.
Hardly the same as Hillsborough.

I've commented this before somewhere, but I was at the game with my dad the day this happened. As the helicopter landed at the ground, my dad turned to me and said, "It can't be safe landing a helicopter at the ground. What if something goes wrong?" I brushed it off, saying I'm sure it's fine they do it all the time, and we walked off to our car. On the way back, we tuned in to bbc radio Leicester and heard the news. Still chilling to think about.

God 4 years ago, that's gone so quick. I was in year 9 now I'm in last year of 6th form, where has time gone! It was so chilling watching it back hearing Jake saying 'we make life choices' and for that choice to end in the way it did. I remember watching this live, it was horrible.

Still cant believe this was broadcast live but we all got used to the Helicopter landing to take owner away after each game like us walking or driving home from work.
Travelling at night is super dangerous for helicopters & doing it every week then it was going to happen. There's too many things to hit & he is boxed in at the pitch. Just train it. Relax.

Flying helicopters at night is super dangerous & if you do it most weeks then the odds change.
Me and my gf at the time of this accident was sitting in traffic outside of the stadium and we saw it come down! It was shocking and surreal, that helicopter could of come down anywhere outside of the ground, I'm still here, and will never forget that night. God bless them poor people who lost their lives.😢😢
The pilot sacrificed himself and those on board by aiming for the car park rather than the streets full of people. May they all rest in peace. Such a devastating moment for the football family.

Way too many accidents seem to happen with helicopters, I would never use one. It’s an unnecessary extravagance.

Many people seem to be criticising how jake handled it however I think he handled it well. If he had just said straight up 'the helicopter has crashed', it'd have hit all of us like a train, but to build up to what he eventually said made it seem less sudden for me.

He said to John Hartson about getting a lift in it back to Scotland for the cup game, as it was taking off. Dreadful incident. There’s a video on CZcams that shows the helicopter just before it crashed to earth and you could see it get into trouble. The back rotor started spinning causing the whole thing to spin as well. RIP to all on board.

This was one of many unfortunate football tragedies.
Very few ask how Leicester's owners made their money thanks to their dubious links to the military junta that effectively runs Thailand along with the dubious guy at the Grand Palace who loves most of his life in Bavaria .

This is textbook “searching for anger”. Judging a man for how he decides to handle trying to tell the entire country about a tragedy he came as close to seeing without actually seeing it. It was also clear that at the time, Hoddle was in very poor medical condition and everyone’s life is valuable. You weren’t offended, if you were, you need help. Please stop.
Tbf everyone thought hoddle was going to die that day where as at that point as he says “there is no news of casualties or who is in the helicopter”
If you had truly listened, or had the capacity to understand, he was reporting the crash just after it happened. There had not been enough time to assess damage, casualties, etc. He did fine -- he was much more professional than most media-types.
He looks visibly shaken. Especially knowing what has probably happened but not being able to say it on air yet

I remember I was in a poker tournament when this happened (they show the blind timer and the football on different screens), and the screen showed the helicopter leaving the stadium...little did we know what happened next.

I've been to the garden at the back of the stadium... where the crash happened. So eary and moving.
They were talking about the trappings of being a billionaire and how great it must be to have a helicopter 🚁, what a contrast to the disaster that followed .

It is terribly sad to see the lead-up to the accident. Any loss of life on these circumstances is shocking and deeply saddening.
Oddly, beyond football and LCFC, the founder of King Power was not seen in a very positive light. The company was founded in "unusual" circumstances and gained its complete market monopoly in similarly murky ways. It is nice that he bankrolled a football club, but the origin of the money he used to do it was at beat slightly unusual.
Football fans and sports journalists have a selective curiosity about some things - and that is fine. Nonetheless, it is terribly sad to hear of a death in these circumstances.
Yes, this tragedy was a great example of humanity - all scheming aside, judgement is for the day we rue most, and I’m glad the football community spared him any, and themselves shame
