I love Iron Mike more than most guys but he is lucky he never fought big George around 90 91. It would have been one of the greatest fights of all time but big George will not backup and he would knockout little, Iron Mike. No...Disrespect
Great
I will say this confidently without an ounce of hesitation. Mike Tyson in his prime would beat any heavyweight the world has seen.
Absolutely agree, 86-89 tyson was unstoppable.
Dominated the heavyweight division in probably its weakest era

I've watched many boxing matches of the greatest fighters in history but none of them have left me in awe the way Tyson did in his prime. His combination of knowledge, speed, power, and ferocity was as incredible as it was terrifying and i've accepted that i'll never witness anything quite like that again.
Wise and stoic now, perhaps, but still a rapist. Everyone adores and idolize Tyson, as do I AS A BOXER..but a human being? Idk. I don't think rape is something that anyone should be able to live down and just walk off. As a person, Inexcusable.

Everyone that you fight is not your enemy and everyone who helps you is not your friend.”
― Mike Tyson
He's one of a kind....
A bird was flying until it hit a snowstorm. Its wings froze and it fell to the ground. The bird thought it would die until a cow came along and pooped on it. It was so warm and happy that it wouldn't freeze that it started to sing. A nearby cat heard the birdsong. It came to the bird, scooped it out of the cowpie and ate it.
Moral of the story?
Plan ahead. Not everyone that sh*ts on you is an enemy and not everyone that gets you out of sh*t is a friend. And if you're warm & happy then just keep your mouth shut.

Mike's downfall proves what Cus said about boxing being 75 percent mental. A motivated and well trained Tyson without any distractions from the original Catskill team showed us for a short period of time what the perfect fighter looked like. He may not have had a decade long reign but for a glimpse in time he was the pinnacle of greatness in the ring thanks to Cus D'Amato. I don't think there was a more dedicated boxer from the ages of 13-22 than Mike. At 20 you're still agile like a kid but you have peak testosterone, endurance for days and you're as strong as a bull. He had more experience at that age than a lot of guys 5-10 years older. I would take a determined Mike Tyson in 86' on his way to the title against anyone. Phenomenal video.
I almost closed the video when i saw the downfall coming, i just dont want to see it
Agree! The leeches and new team around him helped expedite his issues/downfall.
I totally agree with you Black Sabbath.
most things in life are about the top 6inches who ever masters that with ultimate talent is the best and that is where mike lets himself down
@@larrylewis1661 I get what you are saying. I think it comes down to what people are considering "best" to be. If we're going strictly by numbers then there is only one best and it would be Joe Louis. If there is other criteria involved then it becomes completely subjective. Mike is viewed in this weird light where his expectations are of a guy that should've went 60-0 and smashed every record. His record of Youngest HW champion is pushing 40 years, and aside from Louis's defense record it's one of the longest records of all time that I'm not sure will ever be broken(not in my lifetime along with Louis's) What made him special accomplishing all that at 20, then capturing all the titles and unifying them is also what ended up costing him in the end. He just wasn't emotionally capable of smashing those records at such an age with the vultures circling in on a mentally vulnerable exceptionally young man. His best interests were intentionally derailed with short term thinking.
While I believe we did get to see Mike at his absolute peak, I don't believe he ever reached his absolute potential. I'm not sure how much better he would have gotten, the issue was more to do with maintaining that skill level which is where he fell short and by what Cus meant by boxing being 75 percent mental. That's actually true that he ended up proving Cus right twice.
*In elementary school, every dude looked up to him. 35 years later, I still do.*

Seeing mike happy and being shown love almost makes me cry it’s so tragic to see what he went through from a kid to the end of his career. Now he’s one of the most healed and wise men on the planet.
200%
Self described he isnt healed. Its a daily battle for him. Not gonna lie sometimes when im listening to his podcast and he talks about being scared it breaks me up a little bit.
Boxing is obviously a violent, belittling, sport in which MT shouldn't have been involved in at all! BUT, D'Amato had somewhat tamed Tyson. When DAmato died and MT hooked up with the p.o.s. don king, MT resorted back to a sick savage!
I was always a big fan of his, because he was such an absolute maniac, and a great fighter, too. He doesn’t fight anymore, now, of course, and he seems to have calmed down, quite a bit, from the way he used to be, obviously.
He hasn’t threatened to eat anyone’s children in a while, as far as I know, so he definitely isn’t as much of a nut as he once was, but calling him one of the wisest men on the planet seems kinda disrespectful, to me, to all the people of the world who really are wise, or, at least aren’t insane, but that’s just me, I guess.
I mean, don’t get me wrong. I like the guy, and I find him to be very entertaining, but he clearly isn’t the sharpest tool in the shed, still, by any means. Compared to his younger self, I’d agree that he’s much wiser now, but that doesn’t mean he’s a genius, just because he no longer rapes people, to try to make them love him. Let’s face it, the guy couldn’t spell cat if you gave him the first 2 letters. I can guarantee you that.
If Mike and I were to take the same multiple choice test, and he actually took his time on his, and tried to do as well as he could, but I just randomly marked answers, without even reading any of the questions, then he would have a 50/50 chance, exactly, of getting a better grade than I did. It wouldn’t even matter what the subject was, either, and I’m not just saying that, because I’m a really good guesser.
That’s also assuming that he would answer each question, only once, though, and that he wouldn’t just suddenly wad his test up and eat it, without thinking, and it’s assuming that he wouldn’t sexually assault the teacher, or anything like that, either. Those are all very real possibilities, of course.
I actually believe that he’d be able to resist those urges, honestly, but I wouldn’t say that that necessarily makes him wise, though. I know I definitely wouldn’t cheat off of his test, even if he had the questions, and I didn’t. He’s not a very intelligent human being, obviously, but that’s ok, though. There’s no point in pretending he’s wise, when we all know that that couldn’t be any further from the truth. He’s a lunatic, clearly, but that’s why we love him 🤷🏿♂️
Relax
he didnt weaponize fear, he weaponized confidence.. the fear was just a result of the opponent seeing in his eyes that he wont accept to loose

This documentary inspired me to get through some of the hardest times in my life and it inspired me to fight through them, 2 years ago. Everything is much better now. I like to come back here to reminisce. Thank you.
Dynamite Mike, tough from the outside, soft from the inside, unloved kid in a body of a killer, with the instincts and speed of a rattlesnake. I am glad he is alive and well, that he find peace, that he enjoy life, he deserved it.
This is the greatest doc I've ever seen on Tyson. I must have watched it a dozen or more times already. Considering there is thousands of videos on Tyson and it feels like I've watched about every one of them, it's quite the feat. I love the slowing down and repeating some of those blistering punches and the dodging. I sometimes think people put on those rose colored glasses when thinking about the old fighters and ranking everyone. I believe if the only thing we had on Mike was black and white footage from 70 years ago and just the stories from old timers, he would have been perceived as this mythical figure. He basically is already. Thank God he was documented to the extent that he was.
I have watched so many documentaries on Tyson as well and I agree with you 100%, this one is one of the best.
Why do you watch Tyson so much?
I agree, I know Mike's story. I've watched a bunch different docs and cover pieces. But I love watching him fight. Just a beast.
I love the way you put it in to words. Because Mike is a very special human being.
I have as well.
Imagine what Cus felt as he watched Mike fight....and he never even saw the prime days...what a lovely pairing. Thank you, Cus
Im from Ireland we always loved tyson and always will ❤❤❤❤❤
After hundreds of consecutive losses to Mike in Punch out I finally won a 3rd round decision against him and was the happiest man on earth for that moment. He was so unstoppable in the boxing ring for a good decade. Awesome video JV
You should've done The last dance documentary and ESPN should have you as consultant. Thank you!!
I second this
@@coreygrandz798 the last dance was great though?
No cap
The Last Dance was a very good documentary man. Love J.V., but it was great the way it was.
Lol all that old footage that was 30 years in the making bud.
In 10 to 20 years and beyond, Mike Tyson will be hailed as the greatest boxer of all time, surpassing even Muhammad Ali. While Ali was once considered the greatest in history, his legacy may not shine as brightly in the future. Ultimately, it will be up to our children to determine the true boxing legend of all time.
Cus deserves so much more recognition
When he says " I'm the most brutal, and vicious and ruthless champion there's ever been" laid over biggie like that , I get chills every time
It makes me chuckle because it's Tupac who was friends with him
Jame, this is t.v. don't worry u want meet Tyson
@@ja2415 huh?
The voice over of Sylvester Stallone at 36:32 got me weak. You didn’t have to do him like that 😂😂😂
Hahaha
Lmao I said the samething
😂
@@Venom_Dvbz eddie murphy's and ali's wasn't that good to lol sounded generic iz hell
When i heard that i replayed it couple of times just to make sure. HAHAHAHA
Mike Tyson - a force of nature, primal, phenomenal, fantastic and human.
A true one-off, unique, dangerous, a flawed genius.
We are blessed to have known him and I wish him all the best and he was the best at his best. A true warrior, a real deal, a great man none the less...
29:05 is just unbelievable...
More raw talent and ability than any boxer in history.
Not even nearly true
RJJ?!?
For a heavyweight yes but overall definitely not
@@traplivesmatter1462 - Not even for a heavyweight. Ali was faster, smarter and a far better boxer.
Prime Tyson beats the hell out of anyone named in the comments 😂
For a brief moment, the world got to see what absolute perfection in the ring looked like.
A 20yr old IMT would mop the floor with Wilder, Joshua, Fury.
Just curious. Who did a 20 year old Mike Tyson beat that makes you believe he could beat Tyson Fury?
@@rp5707 who did those guys beat that makes you think iron mike wouldn’t put in a coma?
@@mohamedcalooley4175 - Since Tyson never put anyone in a coma, including the many bums he fought, I would say everyone.
@@rp5707 Time Warp Fat boy Fury into 1988, The Real Tyson would Crack his ribs with a Left, Right an then uppercut Fury as his head coming down an it's lights out 🚑
@@garrymiller1497 - You mean the same Mike Tyson who was badly beaten by Buster Douglas. Mike beat an old Larry Holmes and a beefed up light heavyweight and a few other pretty decent heavyweights, but when he fought the best heavyweights he was exposed as a really good fighter and that was all.
The legend. The greatest of all time and all time to come.
whomever edited this video......BRILLIANT!
💯
"Everyone got a plan til Joseph Vinthent nothifies your face" - Mike Tyson
Haha my bad. Probably should have read the comments before writing mine! 😂👊🏾

What amazes me is how they filmed so much of him in his pre professional stages
He was great at 15 years old
Because they saw how great he was at such a young age
In sports video as soon as it came out was an essential teaching resource. I mean for proper instructors not ones just going through the motions of life. I've used it to train professional horse riders since day 1.
@@JamesLaserpimpWalsh Ahh you mean how professional or smart up-and-coming athletes film their matches or competitions so they can watch and analyze it after the fact? That's a very good point.
Because they knew that Mike was going to be the youngest champ ever.
34:43 THE SOUND BITES KILLED ME
My favorite fighter of all time. When he fought, his punches looked liked he had no gloves on. I wish I can meet him someday
And yet none of this impresses me nearly as much as his redemptive journey as both a man and a human being. He is both a cautionary and an inspirational example.
Well said.
well said
Man his comeback story
I'm just glad Mike found some peace. Pigeons, ganja, acting, whatever; Live life Mike.
Tyson was unstoppable in his youth. I dont think a fighter that ever fought professionally would have beaten him at 19 years old.
No way he was FEROCIOUS
@@mikedag1176 FEROSHUTH!
You might be right
But Ali would have been a problem
Joe Luis would have been a problem
George foreman, the list goes on and on of those who could beat Tyson but I am not denying Prime Tyson could've won as well. man, the wars we never will get to see
@@durellpowell3324 they'd maybe be a problem if they didn't get swarmed and knocked out immediately. Young Tyson was just so fast, so powerful, so precise, so focused. He was incredible until he lost his focus. Simply incredible.
I think mk ultra just like Serena Williams
Watching Tyson getting ko hurt almost got in me in tears, if he would’ve stayed consistent that man would’ve been everything
Once again, Joe, you outdid yourself. This is the most complete documentary I've seen. Especially his pre-pro days. Every loss Tyson took was due to his lack of training and support by a bunch of greedy money-hungry assholes. He would have never lost a fight if not for those people he let into his life.
True but in the end there is only one person to blame for letting them into his life. Could the like of Cus and Rooney saved Tyson from himself? I think it's doubtful.
The unfortunate truth is that letting the "assholes" into his life didn't cause the problems, letting them in was a symptom of problems he already had. Tyson might have been one of the best boxers that ever lived but he was also a damaged individual. You have to accept him for who he was, warts and all.
@@tonyb9735 Totally agree, but he lost his grounding after Cus was gone and just let everyone else get into his head because he didn't have a "Cus" in his life to keep him grounded like he was.
"Mike made the wrong choices..."
Yep, absolutely, but he wasn't savvy or knowledgeable enough to handle the fame and fortune that hit him so hard and fast and the swarm of maggots that came after his money knowing his mental state. I still stand by what I originally said. Cheers, mate!
We gotta Mike his share of fault too. Even though it was bad ppl around. The last say so was still MIKES and he made bad ChoiCES.
@@tonyb9735 If you place yourself in his shoes at the age of 21 with 400 million it’s difficult to not lose track. At that age he was not wise enough to surround himself with good company. Like stated in the documentary he was a child in a mans body. When you go from nothing to being the wealthiest athlete at the time, it’s impossible to keep focus. When blinded by money it’s difficult to choose right from wrong. If you put any man at that age in Tyson’s shoes it would be the same story.
