The infinite beauty of traditional music is that no matter the country, culture or language I feel that they connect with each other in an intimate and magnetic way.
This song made me cry in the first few seconds I heard it.
I find it very magical how traditional songs like this can carry a message over time that feeds, teaches and restores faith in our hearts. These melodies carry within them, hidden treasures in beautiful decorated boxes, the feelings of so many incarnated beings who sang on this earth: what they loved, what they cried, what they dreamed of.

That’s why ancestral music touches something inside us. They restore our unity. A common root of beauty, love and happiness gently mixed with sadness. Light that radiates through dance, through play, a sensitive heart and within it so much water... On the smile a tear.
Bittersweet, duality in sound.

I feel it in this song, in indigenous songs, in modal songs, in Luiz Gonzaga, in côcos de roda and traditional dances of my beloved country. In the children songs of Romania, Bulgaria, Turkey, in the fire of African songs, in the mantras of Buddhism, in the sounds of the mountains and in the ice. From the desert to the deepest forest and rivers, there seems to be a perfect connection between these universes. A viscerality that has always enchanted me and moved me to the depths of who I am.
I have been studying this for years now and I just can’t get enough of this beauty.

This cut me in two. It’s a farewell song, which I sing today as I say goodbye to myself.

Of not knowing what will come. And may it bring me a new level of my soul.

A beleza infinita da música tradicional é que não importa o país, a cultura ou a língua sinto que elas se conectam entre si de forma íntima e magnética.
Essa canção me fez chorar nos primeiros segundos que a escutei.
Acho muito mágico o quanto canções tradicionais como essa podem carregar através do tempo uma mensagem que alimenta, ensina e retoma a fé em nossos corações. Essas melodias carregam em si, como tesouros escondidos em lindas caixas decoradas, sentimentos de tantos seres encarnados que cantaram nessa terra: o que elas amaram, o que choravam, o que sonhavam.

Agridoce, a dualidade em som.

Sinto isso nesta canção, em canções indígenas, nas canções modais, em Luiz Gonzaga, em côcos de roda e danças tradicionais. Em sons da Romênia, da Bulgária, da Turquia, no fogo das canções africanas, nos mantras do Budismo, nos sons das montanhas e no gelo. Do deserto à mais profunda floresta e rios, parece haver uma conexão perfeita entre esses universos. Uma visceralidade que sempre me encantou e moveu ao mais profundo do que sou.

Essa canção faz isso comigo.

Isso me cortou em duas. É uma canção de despedida, que hoje canto me despedindo de mim mesma.

Do eu vivi e amo, mas que preciso deixar ir.
Do quanto preciso deixar ir o medo do novo.
De não saber o que virá. E que me levará a um novo nível da minha alma.

You know what's ironic? I'm a bagpiper, and even if this is a Scottish song and has been attempted to be played on the bagpipes, you literally can't do that. Isn't that the saddest thing ever? Scottish bagpipes only have a one-octave range, so that highest note in the whole song just can't be hacked on the pipes. Same thing with Danny Boy, and I know, it's terrible. YOu can play Danny Boy on the Irish Uilleann bagpipes, however. But I'm assuming Danny BOy is also Scottish too anyway. Last but not least, as always, your SUPER HOT VIBRATO!!! ABSOLUTELY LOVE it!!!!!!!! It's almost as hot as Madilyn Bailey!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
