I'd argue when he says "the hardest part of this is leaving you," he doesn't simply mean death. This whole album, the Patient (and the reaper who both mocks his grief and tries to encourage him to fight for life) are pushing their loved ones away, not wanting them to see him weak and wasted and embarrassed, not wanting them to suffer his final moments with him, so his death can be at a distance to them. The hardest part is making the actual final moments of communication happen, and he thinks it will be worse if he doesn't get them to move on before he's even dead. Which is ALSO that hard.
The first verse is more practical, more bargaining. "I'll let you help me, but you have to accept this is happening." The second verse is the more raw frustration of facing death. "Stop looking at me, I'm disgusting and you should want to get away."

I agree fully that it is important to experience death, so many ppl go through life for years and bam tragedy strikes and they have no idea how to process. When my mother died when I was 21 I had a hard time naturally, but when my dad died several years later I knew how to deal. Grief is part of us, missing ppl will always hurt. But...that's just life. At age 13 my friend died from an inoperable brain tumor. I was exposed to death at that young age but I never went through the grief process, I just held it all in because I didn't know how to handle it. Over time it was repressed into my subconscious mind and it wasn't until I was about 26 that it started to resurface. I was looking at pictures of my friend and had an all out mental breakdown of the most agonizing magnitude I cant put into words. I saw a therapist and they helped me find healthy ways to cope and deal with the loss, even after all those years. Seek help if you need it, we all do from time to time. Cancer is such a sad song. I can't even listen to the song anymore because my best friend died from cancer this last february from melanoma. He died so quickly and when I saw him last we held each other. He cried so hard I've never heard someone cry so hard in my entire life. 10 years ago I was diagnosed with ewing sarcoma, rare in itself mine was a random gene mutation that presented in an extremely rare location. Its supposed to be a long bone cancer but mine presented in my face. Its a very aggressive bone cancer that metastasizes into lung cancer, after taking a sample before we knew what it was it metastasized and took over more than half my face. I was a huge fan of this album. My survival is an absolute miracle, I lived in a hospital for 3 years and was told "in the next 24 hours you may die from the bacteria in your own body," many times just from the amount of times i had neutropenic fevers, which was 2 times a month for 2 years and each lasted about a week for me. 3 years of having family and friends basically saying goodbye then surviving has really been had an impact of my thinking and im still not sure what to think, its like dying but coming back to life and having to keep living.

This black parade album got me an A* in performing arts. I LOVE this album. We knew that to get an A we had to get the examiner’s to laugh or cry, we got both out of all three. We knew the examiner would probably be middle aged and probably had teenagers. NO parent can not be moved by childhood cancer. And we were 💯 right! 😂We acted out his life good and bad and gave the audience the chance to vote on what the ending would be… Would he go to heaven hell or purgatory… or would he survive… They voted for him to survive… Of course. Then out of curiosity they doubled our time to watch the other endings. I adore this album and was lucky enough to get to see them perform it live at the time, it was his speech about children and teenagers going through cancer that inspired us to do it. They’re so underrated. You definitely need to check out more of their music. I would LOVE to see you react to I’m not okay and teenagers. You would also probably like I don’t love you. It’s kinda like this song.

You should do the song Drugs by Eden. Such a beautiful song with a video that's equally beautiful to go with it. Such a powerful work of art. I think you'd really like it. I'd be stoked to watch your reaction to it. I'm new to your channel and now I'm binge watching all your stuff. Thank you for what you do. Much love and many prayers always.

Hey Tom, Couldn't find anywhere to message you after the live stream the other day but I'm one of the people who donated, after looking around a bit I thought I night as well just comment on the newest video. , my exact stream message was "Sorry if this was answered before since I just joined but will you ever release the lean wit me reaction in any way? Even if edited to avoid takedown?" looks like it's getting premiered soon tho, so that's exciting.
As for my song requests I was sending, I heard you talking about Eminem and I have 3 by him, you of course don't have to do all 3 but I thought it would be a good idea to give you options to pick from. 1. "Stan" Stan is a completely fictional story that revolves around an obsessive fan, it's one of Eminem's best examples of storytelling in his music, it's overall loved by fans and can be used to bring up a dialogue about hyper fixation by fans on famous people. 2. Drug Ballad: This is one of Eminem's more open yet upbeat songs, it basically shows his perspective on the drugs he was doing at the time in the early 2000's, his perspective on the drugs he's been taking has changed since then and that can be seen on the new Juice WRLD album in an audio clip on the album called "Eminem Speaks". 3: "Kim" I'm gonna warn you this one is brutal, it's a fictional story but is 100% influenced by what Eminem was going through at the time, Eminem was going through custody battles over his daughter Haley with his Ex wife Kim
at the time, and you can hear the rage and anger he had at the time over the whole situation in the song, and what he describes, I really kept this one vague since I didn't want to spoil anything abut this song
One last note, Eminem was heavily censored back in the day so any song by him on his main channel would not be his 100% genuine thoughts, with words or whole sentences either changed or cut out, you can get around this by searching up the name of the song then "Explicit Lyrics". React to all 3 or react to none of them, either way ill be happy, again thanks tom for the great content keep up the great work, I love it :)

I'm pretty sure that there is a possibility that this comment will be missed since this video is so old. But here it goes.... I found this channel from a Jelly Roll video that you did. I lost my father to cancer in 2014 and I was his primary caregiver when I was 24, working as well trying to raise my 2 year old son. This reaction as well this song is one of many to hit home to me, but I still feel like Keep Talking by Pink Floyd is still how I feel about the whole ordeal about the day I lost my best friend/Dad. Maybe just maybe I would like to see you do a reaction to that song, or even maybe Jelly Roll Smoking Section.
