    Your video just save my butt. I was three hours away from homebase, limited tools, and told by locals it would be 5 days before they could look at my car. Found your vid. I figured, I got time and tools and dug in. The two most important take aways were,
    1. after manually moving the linkage under the battery tray to park, you have to open the console and get the cable off the shifter, only then can you F' with and move the shifter back. The console has to be pulled out. You showed it, and that was a life saver.
    2. At the linkage under the battery tray, you have to play with the adjustment. Testing to see if it goes through all the PRND. It may do park, reverse, neutral, but not drive, hence adjust that an 1/8 at a time until it works all the way through.
    Anyway, thank brother saved me time and cash. Made it home.

    Girlfriends Santa Fe crapped out after not driving it for two days during a rainy weekend. Shifter was super stuck, managed to get to drive but shifter got stuck in the manual mode. Tried shift release, nothing. Found your video, started disassembly. As another guy mentioned, once i got the battery tray out the inhibitor switch was super rusted. Hit it with some pb blaster and let sit. Shifter seems to be off by a little, when going back to park itll get stuck on reverse unless you force it very quickly. Before i fully take off the inhibitor switch to clean the rust, im hoping the lubricant may do the trick and free it enough. Glad i had this video as a guide, it was a life saver.

      thanks for commenting on my channel, I lubricated inside of the entire box assembly and the shift lock solenoid, if it does not move at all then do it manually first may be that hepls then try moving the shifter to any gear and at the same time move the lock the prevents the shifter from moving to any gear with your fingers so you can put it in any gear. but also check if the shift lock solenoid is moving if it is bad you have to replace it. stay bless and your family as well.

    Hi brother. Thank you for sharing this video. I think my shiter assembly is bad and need to replace. I am still not able to figure out how to detach the grey connector from the main harness, on the passenger side of the assembly. Can you help thanks

    • @JM-AUTO
      @JM-AUTO  Před 2 lety

      hey Brother thanks for coming to my channel, the grey connector on the right side only has a tab that you only have to press it and pull it out at the same time unless it has kind of melt inside and that is why is hard to pull it out but other than that it is only a tab. hope this help

      common problem on these vehicles the shifter cable looses the adjustment, but if it starts in nuetral then also check tramsmission range switch to see if it is deffective or rusty, in my case was the inter lock shift solenoid but I fixed just by lubricating it, so check those things. thanks for watching.

    I’m having an issue where the shifter doesn’t go all the way into drive or all the way into park. I can push the cable in and out to get it into those positions, but the shifter will get stuck in neutral, skip drive and just hang around in the manual area.

    • @JM-AUTO
      @JM-AUTO  Před 2 lety

      did you open the console box? normally that is where the problem is in most of the cases, and after you open it you have to play with the entire box and lubricate it and make sure the shift solenoid moves freely and not partially if not try to move it manually and lubricate it at the same time

    • @billfrete8487
      @billfrete8487 Před 2 lety

      You may have rust bonding the linkage just under the neutral selector. I would lubricate it up with some tranny oil and heat with a torch if you can but be careful.That link goes inside the tranny and dont use penetrant.

    • @JM-AUTO
      @JM-AUTO  Před 2 lety +1

      ola Victor thanks for commenting on my channel, now if you watch this video then you can change the shifter selector bulb because the bulb is right under the gear selector cover and you can see the cable of the bulb when I lift it up even if this video was for another purpose but is the same to replace the shifter selector bulb with the difference that you dont have to do every thing I did cause I was fixing the stuck in D, God bless you and your family.

    • @JM-AUTO
      @JM-AUTO  Před 2 lety +1

      just remove the nob and pry the gear selector cover with a flat head screw driver and there you have the bulb under it, 99% of the time it is the bulb other wise might be wires but first chec the bulb.
