      True but you can't compare an arthouse-like Tarantino movie with a intentionally dumbed down marvel blockbuster. It's a question of expectation (in case of the audience) and courage to challenge that expectation (in case of the producers).
      If you watch a Tarantino movie you expect to watch a cineastic piece of art. Like a trip to an art gallery.
      If you watch a marvel movie you expect to join a rollercoaster ride with some popcorn.
      Maybe some day, producers will get so ballsy to just try out a mesh-up. Maybe Tarantino will direct a Star Wars movie, maybe Samuel Jackson will return as motherfucking Mace Windu, who tells what a bantha burger is called on Tattooine. But until that glorious day there will be a somewhat separation between these parts of movie industry... especially because Tarantino doesn't consider Marvel movie stars as actual movie stars.

      In the English version he only calls him vile, half-breed, etc.
      Whole dialogs are literally CUT OUT
      Plus, the fighting scenes are cut shorter, made less bloody, etc.
      You miss like 60% of the show.
      But....In the subs?
      Everything is as it was when it was aired in it's home country.

It always confuses me when a film is set in (e.g.) France and there is "no connection" to another country, but still they all speak English throughout the entire film...

    • @ProcyonProduction
      @ProcyonProduction Před rokem +2

      I imagine not as rare in China. You say "anglican-ization" like it's some sort of evil conspiracy or something though. There's nothing wrong with an american movie for an american audience (who speak majority english) to have characters speaking english. I'm sure it's fairly common in china that american characters speak mandarin/cantonese and I know lots of Japanese media has americans speaking fluent Japanese. In black widow it makes sense and doesn't make sense for his character to speak Russian if the main character (or Surrogate character which doesn't have to be the main character) knows what he's saying then there's no reason to obfuscate it, subtitles can make more sense but that kinda depends on how much he talks to have people watching for half the movie and reading for the other doesn't make sense in a visual medium. If Natalia's russian isn't perfect anymore it makes logical in movie sense for him to just speak english. If a character isn't supposed to understand what the russian character is saying it should not be translated in any way. it's simple. Yes it's funny that Hollywood does this thing where germans either speak english with an accent or just straight up queen's english but expecting an american movie to force most of their audience, whom they made the movie for, to read subtitles for more than a few minutes makes as much sense in film as a character speaking the audience's language with an accent. from the sounds of it in shang chi they made the decision to open the movie with mandarin which is cool and fun actually but had the sensibility to make sure the audience wasn't reading half their movie even in instances where the main character didn't need to speak english.

      That's the reason why I really apreciate Inglorious Bastards. Tarantino didn't take the easy road, he searched for actors from europe to play characters from their respective countries/speaking their respective languages (which showed the world talent of Christopher Waltz and thank god it happened). Also some characters were bilingual, some of them weren't. And if they were speaking the other language, you could tell that this isn't their main one. It wasn't the perfect world where everyone spoke language that was needed at the time. I'm not even talking about how important this "language game" was for the whole plot.

      @@ProcyonProduction It's not a conspiracy. Why do they speak English in America, Barmahas, South Africa, Australia etc? Countries export culture and America is at the forefront exporting American exceptionalism all the time. So is China, and so is North Korea, but no one has as far a reach as America. That isn't necessarily bad but since the art of movie making has become an industry movies have become so tasteless. It's just colours and shapes on a screen, so seeing people actually put time and effort into a movie, like actually doing research on different cultures, having actors learn new shit or speak a different language is awesome which this whole thing is about. It's about acting like film making is an art or an industry, at least for me.

What doesn’t make sense within this convention is for those characters to have an accent or other secondary characters actually speaking different languages. You can either have one or have several but you cannot mix. That’s the general gist but recently they keep breaking this convention.

      Or that 96% of Canadians speak only French or English?
      When you lave large areas of people who dont need to learn multiple languages in their daily lives to communicate ad get things they need you see people shifting to one language. Only 22% of Canadians speak only french and thats with their literal language police pushing french to keep it alive. If every state had a different language then you would see more milti lingual people in the us.
