- After a family meeting 25 years old Careen Chepchumba retuned to her upscale apartment in Nairobi Kenya, the next day her family tried to reach her on phone to know how she was doing but she wasn't taking her calls, and so they decided to pay her a visit, only to discover a very shocking scene at her home. When the police were called, they knew instantly that she had been murdered in her sleep... and they also knew who had the biggest motive to want her gone.

I'm a kenyan and I think the family knows what happened to their daughter before she died she gave one of the Co-worker Luis number incase something happened to her I have some observations:
1. Why did the family rush the burial if they really wanted to know who killed their daughter.
2. Why did the mother stay in the car when the son when up to check up on the sister.
3. Why did they refuse to go on with the D.N.A.
4. why didn't the brother check up on the sister if she was responsive.
5. Why did the letter just surface after sometime.
6. Why did the dad remain unremorseful on the burial.
7. The father didn't like otieno meaning they could use him as a scapegoat.
8. Otieno wasn't even around during the time she died.
9. They refused to tell their story and in the police Station the mother called her daughter a thief that she stole small money like 10k .
This people used otieno as a scape goat because he was an easy target the killi were well off and being kenyan here you can manipulate anything to be on your favour there is more to this story because this family just buried their daughter so fast and wanted the case to end so fast. Something else careens cousin also died in the same unknown circumstances I think otieno is innocent.

True. Louis Otieno was actually on a work assignment in a town that is almost 300km from Nairobi at the time when the death happened. He was also very cooperative and even willingly allowed the investigators to take his DNA to assist with the investigations. I believe the family knew more than they are letting on considering how fast they let the investigation die out.
As a Kenyan, I totally agree: the family knows what happened to their daughter!
The way I see it, my very personal conclusion to the case: this was a case of a girl who grew up with a predator that for some reason she still couldn’t shake off as a young adult. Louis Otieno could have been the only person to stand up for her against Mr predator and for that she sourced for whatever money she could to help him out and keep him around her. As a public figure if he said anything about the abuse and she collaborated Mr predator would’ve been ruined - cue the 4 million shillings for their silence! I highly doubt she stole that money. She probably even asked and was expecting more money and for that she paid with her life …plus possibly Mr predator could not stand sharing her!
Of course Mr predator covered his tracks well. He could easily have tracked Louis Otieno and figured out how Louis could sneak into Careen’s apartment with the guards knowing.
That she lived in a place where it was possible to restrict visitors and she gave Louis unrestricted access to her and not her own family, and she gave out Louis’ contact for emergencies, says a lot about who she truly trusted.
Louis Otieno is innocent.

Hum. I feel strongly that the father had a hand in it.. the rage if a sick, jealous step father that abused a child: AND she STOLE his money to give to a married man.. he was engaged.... I've had an experience where my ex husband abused my child.. i left him immediately. Some men are sick. There are great heights they will go!!!!. He went on to further harm young girls. The boyfriend seems guilty of using her... swindled her.. but when you talked to the father.. that made me pretty sure, that the rage in that man must of had an impact on him to do this to that girl.. she herself needed wisdom and deliverance.. she needed true LOVE.

This is a very detailed and good job you've done Daniel 👏👏. It is a shame that our Kenyan DCI did a very poor investigation and let the murderer go free. The main suspect Louis though has had challenges since the death of Careen. He is struggling financially, has health issues (almost went deaf) and is a struggling alcoholic. Its like Karma.
Yes normally the Kalenjin elders are called to perform a cursing ceremony in such cases. I believe that Louis Otieno was cursed by the Kalenjin elders. He will never know peace until he dies.

OTENO is the KILLER because he is the one who goes to her without her knowing he is coming based on what KAREN told her friend.
Also karen called oteno to discuss the meetings they had in the family and what he told the family about ending it with otega and possibly sue him. That is when he choose to have it out with her but in a dubious way he can secretly poison or strangle her to death while they were together Oteno sneaked into the house and pass the night with her and that is when he killed her.
The fathers case raised by Oteno is just to DIVERT it off him and also is not Emmanuel I mean Karen brother.
I guess KAREN chilled with the BAD BOY the case will resurface one day for now he thought he has gone free but human BLOOD is thicker whoever killed her will be brought to book one day.
Sure, he will definitely pay for this atrocity someday, the case will be revisited.

I think the brother is innocent. If he had killed her, he would have let the mother go up first. Not go before her and then have her come up. Also, it isn't hard to believe that he thought she accidentally left the door unlocked before falling asleep in her bed.
The person I'm giving the side eye to is the lover. I truly believe he killed her because she was going to stop funding his lavish lifestyle. Who knows, she could have also threatened to expose everything to his wife.
Let them check the register again ...maybe the boyfriend used to register visiting another person meanwhile he was visiting her....let them contact all the visitors in the book register on the previous day and the actual day of murder

UNANSWERED QUESTIONS.
1- Why did the mother remain in the car if the purpose for the trip was to check on her daughter? This makes no sense at all.
2- What was her body temperature upon discovering she was unresponsive? If she had died that night, obviously the body temp. would be cold.
3- Could it be that Cops purposely tampered with and/or destroyed evidences after being fed with Agege bread smeared with butter, margarine and jam, compacted with eggs and then soaked fresh milk?
4- How about the CCTV footage, or they don't have at all? If NO, then how can an Estate be without security cameras?
5- If it's the boyfriend in question who [might have] accessed her apartment without the knowledge of the security Guards, how safe then are the tenants in that Estate as one of the reasons many people end up coughing out so much money to live in these Estates is Security?
CONSPIRACY:
My suspicion(s) is that the brother was the appointed executor by all parties involved hence the mother remained in the car for the appointed to execute the job (killing) without the mother's sight if the body was still warm at the time the mother physically checked on her.
Do you think her brother could have killed her without a fight?. At least, she could have scratched him or ripped his clothes and that could have prompted some questions from their mom or the police when they arrived.

Honestly speaking, my feeling is that the case is probably going to go cold. I feel this way because of the contamination of evidence by the people entrusted to run with the case. My thought is that even if they do find witnesses/ a witness that had seen something that can put someone at the crime scene on that particular day still, comes down to the fact that the evidence was contaminated therefore, not enough evidence. The case will just remain cold. Definitely there was a person there that night that made her feel comfortable but, I really doubt that person was the father. I feel that the brother could have been absent minded at the time and still upset from the meeting the day before that when he found the door unlocked and seeing the two glasses and a bottle of wine that had been opened he could have gotten side tracked and didn't think too much of it. The driver I highly doubtful due to the money being owed. He probably had bills to pay and mouths to feed so, to him she would be better off alive. I honestly feel that it's the guy that had free access in and out of her apartment, he had too much to loose and nothing to gain from the victim as she was already in so much dept because of him and needed him to start paying back the money to enable her to clear her name and debts. Also he was a married man and was probably trying to keep the relationship under wraps as his reputation was already in ruins, this information would have added a massive blow to his already damaged reputation.

Interesting case. This could have been easily solved if forensic system in Africa were advanced and up to standards. All they need was a DNA match of the person who was drinking wine with Careen and in the apartments (especially the bed sheets) before her death from the suspects. It could have been someone completely different who wasn't even a suspect.
