I absolutely love hearing your sweet momma tell her life stories! Y'all are so blessed. I have been to your neck of the woods many times when my oldest daughter lived there in Watagua. Beautiful area. I love those mountains! Thank your sweet momma for sharing her story and thanks for sharing with us! I could always listen to more good stories. God bless y'all!
How I miss the front porch! Sitting on the porch swing as it rained; listening to the birds sing; late at night I used to hear a fox bark or a screech owl ... people don't know what they're missing as so many memories were made on the front porch! Thanks, Mike and thank your wonderful Mom for making this video!

God’s Blessings.
Love seeing you Mike with your Beautiful Moma. I bet your Sister was spoiled after 12 years age separation! It's good to make special memories with her! Took my 90 year old Dad this past Thursday for his BD to see the LST-325 in Evansville In. He was a Career Army man so He Enjoyed that! Love you all!
Mike seafoam sounds like what we here in Minnesota call Divinity. I remember my grandmother making it and adding nuts. You drop it into spoonfulls on wax paper and it's really important to watch the humidity outside. I am retired now but had a great grandmother when I was 20. I would ask her about the depression. She was in her 20's then and said you could buy the most beautiful dresses for .25. All the family was farmers so we had food then and most milked cows for money. All the women would sell eggs and summer vegetables. Alot of canning here.
Your Mom is so graceful and beautiful! I love hearing all of her stories, amazing that she is so sharp and she looks great for her age.
Love this video! My Dad’s 81 and I Love talking with him about his childhood. He was born and raised in Tennessee and came to Texas when a teenager and met my Mama! I miss her so much! Great memories though ❤️
This is very interesting I love hearing things of the past and how hard it was for other generations to be raised up in the societies that was
What a wonderful Christian lady. cherish the time you spend with her. As I know you do. God Bless
Sure enjoy when your mother shares her life experiences with us and hope there are many more story telling sessions. Mom Friday is so beautiful inside and out.

Loved this! I live in bristol and from near where Karen is from. Love watching you guys! I feel so connected and close to you all because of your roots
I loved your visit with your momma. I’m 75 and remember when we had a bathroom put in our house and when we got a TV. We had a big antenna on the roof and got only 2 channels and those were sometimes fuzzy. We had a phone with a party line. How things have changed!
Your momma is the cutest! God bless you all.
Your mom is great. Love to hear the stories of her life.
Your mom is so wonderful and beautiful. She definitely does not look her age at all. This was so interesting. I love these videos and stories. Always cherish these memories.

Mike this video is like Gold. You are lucky to have this to go back and watch in later years. I enjoy hearing stories from my parents of their childhood. I wish I had videos of my grandparents talking about their past. Your mom is such a pretty and pleasant lady. Really enjoyed this! Hi Karen!! You all have a great weekend and congratulations on over 14K!! ! God Bless. 💞🙏
Your Mom is so sweet, I just love her
I LOVED this! We have so much in common. My mom was born in Flippin, KY in 1935. And, we're close in age and have had similar paths, at least for part of our lives. Thank you for sharing. My mom just graduated from this world in September of last year.
My mom would make me and my childhood best friend seafoam candy when we were kids. And she also always made homemade pancake syrup. Good memories.
Mike and Karen this was truly a Wonderful video with precious memories with Mike's Beautiful Mother and his lovely childhood and of course his Mother's and Father you re Always so beautiful and classy
I have dugger bloodlines from butler community up above Watauga lake. They had 22 children!
My mom Margaret ( jones) Denton was born in 1942. She grew up in the fairview community and went to high school at sulphur springs.
Her dad Joseph Lester Jones was born in 1916. He kept the burial plot books for the fairview community cemetery. So grandpa knew nany if the families living in that area of Washington county. He worked at ET & WNC trucking company located by cardinal Park and the Johnson city civic center.
My grandma Mary Blanche (Loudy) Jones worked at mccroys (spelling?) in the johnson city mall. She ran the pet and toy department. I remember her working there from the 1970's through mid 1980's. She was the sweet little white haired lady who wore glasses.
My mom also made sea foam candy and good peanut butter pin wheels. I also loved it when she made the oatmeal/corn flake candy with chocolate in them.
Thank you so much for sharing Harold. I'm sure our families know each other some way.
Wonderful stories we had our parents write down their recollections of growing up so we could reference it after they passed . Your mom is so spunky yet
I love listening to the older people tell stories of growing up and their life. Such wonderful memories. ❤️ thanks for sharing.
Great video. Loved hearing your stories. I grew up in Johnson City, with great memories as well. You will always cherish this video for a long time.
Glad you enjoyed it
Truely enjoyed this. Your mom is the same age as both my parents. They have both had their birthdays already this year...so they are 87. I love to hear the stories they tell from "back in the day". Hope ya'll are having a great weekend! God bless!
That was awesome I really love hearing older people tell there stories just love that so Thank you 🙏🏻 ❤️
Loved hearing your Mom talk. My husband born In 1935 May.
He died this past April 17.2022
I can relate to a lot she mentioned. My Maw maw had a inside bathroom put in when Pawpaw past away 1973 and she had put in to a hot water heater to have hot water.
When I was young
My maw-maw and paw-paw had no bathroom.
They had a what they called a crib( small shed)
It was used for an outhouse.
The other larger shed was used for storage and a wringer type washing machine. It also had an oblong aluminum horse trough used to take a bath.
I remember maw maw heating up pots after pots of hot water in the trough so that i could take a bath in it.
Like wild wild west
😁
Really enjoyed your interview with your Mom. What wonderful memories. She is so sweet, and I could listen to her forever. Please tell her she definitely does not look her age just gorgeous 😍 💕
Loved the interview ♥️
Tell mom Friday we really enjoyed her sharing.
Mike, my Grandad and Grandma Dickerson was the first to have a tv and would turn it around to the window where everyone from all around would come sit outside and watch tv. And my Grandma Dickerson made quilts and I loved watching her making those quilts. My Mom made dresses for me when I was little. My Grandad Dickerson passed away when I was 5. My Daddy passed away December 22,1987 after suffering 3 yrs of colon cancer and it spread to his lungs and brain. I keep missing him more and more each year. Thank you for having your Mom share her memories. I would have loved to have known my great Grandad Dickerson. Really enjoyed your video and hello Karen!
Thank you for sharing such great stories. Your mother seems to be a lovely christian lady. The seafoam candy sounds really interesting.

That was a special video, thanks for sharing Mama
Such a sweet interview with your Mom..
Loved your visit with your Mommy! She is a beautiful lady, so glad you included her.
Good to hear such memories from your Mom! My Mom pasted away when I was 21. Can't remember a lot. God Bless your Mom!
Love hearing old timey stories.
Thanks for the son and mother interview💞
When I was young..
Extended family would visit and talk about the pass.
The scariest part was when they would talk about ghosts and rougarus.
Sounds so much like my mom and grandmothers!
Thank you Mike. I sure enjoyed your visit with your mom. She’s a beautiful lady, It’s so good to talk about the family history .
Thank your Mom for sharing her life. It brought back memories from my childhood. God bless you all.
Beautiful charming lady. Love to hear her stories.
I loved this. The seafoam candy sounds like divinity. I make it but only when the weather is right. It is really good. I love hearing about the way things used to be. I know times were hard for so many back then, but I would love to turn back the hands of time. Times are very hard for alot of people now. I would love to hear more from your mother. I was a child when my grand parents passed away and really did not get to know them. I can remember my grandmother had no heat or even central air in their house. That was the COLDEST house. They had wood stoves and they cooked on a wood stove. The food was so good back then because the food was home grown, canned, and no chemicals. They had their own chickens. Gee, times sure have changed. Thank you to your mom for sharing her life, and thank you for your video. I enjoy them so much.
Any time you want to interview your mother please do! What a joy she is!
I hope I have her clarity of mind at her age. I wish I had it now. My grandparents had an outhouse when I was young and using it scared me to death. You are so lucky to still have her and in good health. She is so charming.
Great video , you mother is a very beautiful lady
My mother used to make seafoam candy when I was a kid. Never knew of anyone else who made it besides her.
Get mark on here! I went to school with Mark!
Hi mike and Karen. My wife and I enjoy your videos the next time you would like to take a leisure and relaxing trip you may want to drive up to dillsboro then take rts28/64 to highlands . When you get to highlands you can park your car behind bridal veil waterfalls and take a picture of it. Karen will have to do the filming and talking so mike can keep both hands on the steering wheel and both eyes on the road. Along the way there are several places where you can see people swimming and diving in that river. My wife and I did this around 25 years ago and we enjoyed it. There are several places to eat and to stay in highlands if you want. Robert and Janet of dagsboro del
I am planning to move to the smokies, NC soon. Two wild little boys will come later. Bears worry me a little with the boys. They are small and when we're yall allowed to play in the woods around you?
Sounds great! Always use caution but mostly safe.
💜💜
Hey Mike is that your mom or is that Karen's mom she looks very good for her age
