Special thanks to Philharmonic de Paris for getting this on video.
    About the Ragam :
Gowrimanohari or Gaurimanohari is a rāgam in Carnatic music (musical scale of South Indian classical music). It is the 23rd Melakarta rāgam in the 72 melakarta rāgam system of Carnatic music. The 23rd melakarta rāgam as per Muthuswami Dikshitar school of music is Gourivelāvaḻi.
The Western equivalent is the melodic minor scale.
Hindustani music does not have an equivalent to this rāgam, where the purvanga (first half of the scale) is like Kafi thaat, while the uttaranga (second half) is like Bilaval thaat.

Once again it is so much appreciated to not only be able to enjoy, share(!!!😁), and learn about all of these most talented musicians and brothers...
*putting the relevant information on raga, scale information, all the excellent small details in the description is far more helpful to us who wish to actually attempt to play along, than you can ever know.*
As always, Peace from US of America.

Audience killed this beautiful programme by clapping frequently. I rmbr Pandith Shivkumar Sharma once told in a concert ( I too was present in that concert ) that it is common that audience get exited while hearing some “ BOLS “ of tabla , bt enjoy th music frm heart without clapping. Another artist told during th concert itself that pls clap as long as u love, bt @ th end of th concert , like th western audience. There was an incident that Ustad Vilayath Khan got disturbed by th frequent clap , put down th sitar nd returned to th green room.

i think the westerners were being polite it's their way of showing the appreciation but i agree they should be told before the concert it just don't sound right
