How to Make a Cooled Hydrogen Soldering Station

Hi folks, in this video I’m going to show you step-by-step how to build yourself at home recycling all the things you can have at home or just buy very cheap things and adopt them to build yourself an HO generator for your soldering or welding station
It’s very simple basically what we only need are some things to plates. In this case I took 20 things to plates Steam cooker
Hi Dan, connect to steam rods to 10 of them
And other 10 rods to other 10 plates
Basically what we need to have 10 plates that are positive and then plates that are negative
The power supply for this project is very simple basically a microwave oven transformer converted into a much higher pair and low voltage
There is a tutorial on how to build yourself at transformer like this just check on my other CZcams channel
    Rulof maker
How to make a spot weather machine
We need to have the current and for this purpose, I suggest to install some di in a bridge rectifier configuration without capacitor works OK
Now we just have to submerge everything into sodium carbonate. If you want to have a much higher result, but it be more dangerous you can use some sodium hydroxide which is acid and argon just to do this because if there is an explosion, we would end up to have acid in all our skin.
The container to build the project is basically just flex gloss or acrylic container and it really suggested to use plastic and don’t use glass because if any breaks up, you will not get hurt if you use plastic parts
So this is a very simple tutorial the main thing to consider when you are building yourself the torch is using an ole made with copper I just give the shape to the nozzle using a small hammer and inserting inside a 0.6 mm needle
Which is the inner diameter of the hole

safety is paramount when work with that mixture... but not here. it is a design that can make BOOM. he probably should separate the gases first in the reactor/generator, and feed them close to the torch via two hoses, separately, and having control of the mixture. his gas mixture is stoichiometric, so it ca travel back faster than you react, multiple flame arrest should be added on the hidrogen line. but not onnly etc, etc. hard plasic can act as solid if explosion is powerful enough, maybe 2 longitudinally joined PET bottles are more suitable. in term of surface area the metal wool would give him more surface, also inox plates is not so great for this process. imagine those plates flying through the air in all directions like ninja knives.

Good video. Most torches you buy are brass which is a copper based alloy, and its for exactly that reason. The copper dissapates and conducts it away very effectively. Great build, i would love one of these in the shop. Its so much easier to refill water than buying gas canisters. Amazing build and thank you for all the tips on being successful with such a build

Technically you could use a steel ball bearing alone , aslong as its surface is true.
And it rested in a silicone seal of sorts, to keep the gas Inside and pressure constant.
Plus the exit port is large enough for the release gases ... and the spring load was string enough for holding the relief ball tight .
Check hho for life , around 12 yrs back in video feed ... he has a demo of said device ...
Erm yeah , hho tends to seep through some materials ... so heck what you use

I love this! What type of flame does this make?
I was expecting a neutral flame because Hydrogen and Oxygen get split and then put back together. The color looks like it is a reducing flame but with the silver solder it looks like an oxidizing flame. It is not the copper burning because that would make a green flame. I'm trying to think of how I could use one of these. From the way it melts glass, I can see it being used as a cutting torch or glass melting torch.
My guess is that not all the oxygen and hydrogen being produced gets to the torch at the same time because the water absorbs some of the oxygen. Once saturated it releases oxygen like bubbles in soda water which is probably why you have to restart it every once in a while.

cool video, but combined gas HHO generators are very dangerous
second, are you using a microwave oven transformer as part of the power supply?!

I assembled such a setup when I was in school. After the first and last explosion for this installation, I never assembled it again. no one could suggest that a copper nozzle should be used.

@2:41 there's definitely a couple plates near the top touching near the rod.

There is one solution i was already thinking for this problem , get a mini air pump and have it on going into the gas maker at the top so it just mixes with the hho before going to the torch tip hole, it should turn it from a imploding gas to expl has, no risk of flash back , and flashback arrestors do exist aswell

Para deshidratar más el hidrógeno puedes hacer un pequeño filtro que no contenga mucha cantidad de gas y ponerle sulfato de calcio anhidro para quitarle más humedad al hidrógeno

a good concept. not new, but good. the only problem is the steel plates as electrodes. they WILL oxidise away with time, and very soon, since the plates are thin and have a large surface area. to prevent this problem, a non oxidising electrode should be used, like graphite. it will be hard to source thin graphite plates, but they will hold against the oxidation. there was no point in using distilled water, after adding salt to it.

I do see where your coming from but graphite will turn into a powder as the gas forms. In the industry they use MMO plates or mixed metal oxide plates.

Should a different salt be used as to not make chlorine gas?

    • @wombatillo

Maybe use a mild sodium hydroxide solution? The stainless steel can take it and it doesn't have the chance to produce chlorine or hypochlorite even by accident.

I kinda hope that fan is sucking air down and not blowing through the radiator, or you are just reheating your electrolyte with a warm metal plate :)
