  • How much we spent for a one day Jeep tour of Wadi Rum might surprise you. This is our first time traveling to the Middle East. Our first two days in Jordan will be spent in Wadi Rum with the Bedouin people. We take a Jeep (4x4) tour through the desert, watch the most amazing sunset and settle into our camp.

      Well.... we went to Jordan and did not go to Petra. We only had so much time and we chose to go to Wadi Rum and then head north to Amman and see the Dead Sea and other day trips in the surrounding areas. Petra is also not a cheap destination. But now we have a major reason to go back and explore more of Jordan!

  • @WildWildBasch
    @WildWildBasch Před rokem

    I spent 2 nights in Wadi Rum back in November. The weather was perfect, but a bit too coldish at night. In my opinion the tours are a bit overpriced and it would have been great if we were given more freedom to do things on our own. They take you to places, give you some time to walk around, and there's not much more added to it. The reason why I wanted to spend 2 days, was to do the tour on the 2nd day and on the first day I would just explore on my own. Walking kilometers on my own in the desert, I visited one of the canyons and some other rock formations, but I kept getting stopped by different jeeps, and asked where I was going or where I was staying. A bit too much, but I suppose they're not used to having people wanting to explore with no guide. When I finally did the tour on the 2nd day, I told them I wasn't interested in visiting the places I had already visited on my own the day before, so this was kinda cool because they had to improvise a bit on the route instead of taking us only to the places everyone goes. Also it was my birthday, and the bedouins threw me a party with birthday cake which I did not expect at all.

    • @SOSASATSUNRISE
      @SOSASATSUNRISE  Před rokem

      We celebrated Amber's birthday while in Wadi Rum too! In our following video, our guide definitely made the day special. I agree the tours are pricey and it was a struggle for us to explain we wanted to enjoy the camp and film instead of pay for another tour but I understand why they wouldn't want inexperienced travelers wandering around the desert by themselves. I wish we had the time to research specific things to see in Wadi Rum before arrival. We booked this last minute and unfortunately did not have that opportunity.

    We stumbled on to your channel while looking for cheap eats in Madrid. Love you guys. Don't know if this would be up our alley but we definitely want to visit Jordan and perhaps Petra while there. I have to ask would you do this again, or was this once in a lifetime adventure? I'm only asking to see if we have to dig deep and do it since we are elderly but adventuresome.

    • @SOSASATSUNRISE
      @SOSASATSUNRISE  Před 2 lety

      Welcome to the channel! We would absolutely go back to Jordan. Our Jordan visit really opened our eyes to travel in the middle east and we have plans to travel further into the region because of how much we enjoyed our time there. Five days was far too short. The one reason we would hesitate to return is the cost. The tourist attractions can be costly for budget travelers. Although we went to Wadi Rum in the cheapest way possible, for the price of a U.S. hotel room, you can go to Wadi Rum and Petra in comfort and style. We break down all our costs for each location in later videos. If you have any more questions, leave us a comment. Happy and safe travels to you!

    • @SOSASATSUNRISE
      @SOSASATSUNRISE  Před 2 lety

      @@patrikszatmari672 You are correct. The taxi to Wadi Rum was not the cheapest way possible but the $8 per night we spent was the cheapest we found. Also, from what we read, many of the buses to the tourist destinations were not operating regularly due to lack of travelers. Admittedly this was not our most researched trip since we had booked our flights only about 48 hours prior and most of that time was spent making sure we had negative covid tests in order to make it into the country. Thank you for the tip on the bus! We do want to go back to Jordan and we will hopefully snag a bus next time. Thanks for watching!
