Multiplying Integers (Multiply Negative & Positive Numbers) - [7-2-3]

In this lesson, you will learn how to multiply integers together and calculate the correct answer. Multiplying integers means that we learn how to multiply negative and positive numbers together. When multiplying two positive numbers together, the result is always positive. If we multiply two negative numbers together, the result is always positive. If we multiply two numbers with different signs (positive and negative), the result is always negative.

Hi I wanna know how it works like negative multiply negative it becomes positive

Multiply -5×-3 on number line.
Solution: -5×-3=(-1)5×(-1)3
=(-1)(-1)5×3=5×3
Make 3 groups of 5 units on the number line that gives us 15 units.

@Jesse Marcel I tried to convert -5×-3 into addition problem like 5×3=5+5+5=15. I could not do it. So I used number line.

@@soap3044 I don't think i is a variable. The imaginary number i comes into picture when you solve the equations like x^2=-1.
When subtract 7 from 2 it's
2-7 =-(7-2)=-5. Suppose you have 2 rupees, your ask you 7 rupees, after giving him 2 rupees still you owe him 5 rupees i.e -5.
-5×-3 can be converted into addition problem like
-5×(-1+-1+-1)= -5×-1+-5×-1+-5×-1=5+5+5=15. Do you agree with me?

@@soap3044 I agree to your point, negative numbers are devised for convenience. But partially agree with that i is a variable. A variable can take any value you know. Here i=√-1 that contradicts your idea of variable.
