Love as well how the choice to use black in the past make the lore even more realistic in retrospect.
Also, you should add the space bears with their lore to homebrew 40k wikis, this way you can expend the lore backwards as well as forwards with the battle reports.

Oh finally, these are looking great, the iconic terminator helmets and armor with the awesome space bear aesthetic, Maybe you could get some Assault Terminators with lightning claws to keep with the "Bear" theme

Since you brought up the heads looking very Space Wolf, part of the history of the Ojibwe (and all Native people here in Canada) involves European fur traders who had kids with Native women. Their kids are known as Métis (old French meaning "half") and it would be a neat bit of lore to have some of them in the ranks of the Space Bears. Maybe they are the ones who follow some of the tactics of their chapter but mix in some Space Wolf maneuvers too?
It works for our lore as it stands - Guilliman brought the primaris only force made from space wolf gene stock into service at the beginning of the indomitus crusade. In the two centuries since, the chapter was assigned a homeworld and has used it as their primary recruiting world. Stands to reason many of the older veterans are terrans with space wolf geneseed. Wheras the new recruits are from their new home
a tip for all the TTT crew as a former car painter always ziplocking the filters of the spraymasks helps stretch the durability

Another way to do the fur thay I think would've been cool is basically a giant rug wrapping over the top to the vents and surrounding the head, insetting the heads and making them a bit more hibernaty. Totally impractical and restrirctive to their vision, but wrap around pelts are so cool
Ok so, I got tourettes right, and by pure coincidence at 7:30 in the video I ticced in a way that made it seem like the little firing effect of the gun hit my in the temple of my skull and my head shot back from impact lmao
Ooo the color wheel sounds like a cool concept to explore! The red is already associated with normal Space Bears, which makes sense to associate with "youth". The captains and other important units could have more black and neophytes could be yellow! With the chapter master being green!

Salamanders arent Lizards, they are amphibians. But I think in wh40k they are basically magma lizards, so u arent wrong.
The Space Wolves have some really unique models, but what I am looking forward to the most would be an ACTUAL BEAR as a Model.
Either as a Proxy for the CYBERWOLF or perhaps as the WOLF LORD on THUNDERWOLF but its just straight up a BEAR with a rider

I’m using one of the Space Bear Heads (the one with a man bun) for the Chapter Master of my Hawaiian themed chapter. Gives me kinda old Jason Mamoa vibes. Another one of the heads is being used for a Marine that I made look like a grizzled blonde surfer bro.
