    I keep telling people that horizon changed the composite material when they bought out Hobbico.. Hobbico build arrma 3s and mega chassis never broke but horizon built ones break left and right.. when I got my first Outcast 4S I compare the composite with my hobbico built Sentons and it was easy to see the difference just at a glance

I'm not a fan of the spectrum electronics either especially the motors.. With all that said there wouldn't be any Arrma anymore if Horizon didn't buy them as Traxxas sued Hobbico out of business

    We're pretty tough on our RC equipment and based on the abuse we dish out at a spot like this, breakages are inevitable. An Arrma guy will tell you Traxxas sucks and vice versa but the truth is, they all break. That being said, the number of broken chassis' with the Arrma 3S/4S line seems out of control (much more than any other brand). A Traxxas might break suspension arms, knuckles, steering arms, etc but the parts are cheap and easy to replace. A chassis though, much more expensive (still not crazy, though) and a lot of work to replace. Arrma certainly needs to address this, maybe go back to their older plastic that was more resilient, or they risk ruining their well earned reputation for taking abuse!

  • @cwatson42785
    @cwatson42785 Před 2 lety +13

    Tough break for sure but when you're sending rcs 30 feet into the air in rough rocky terrain it comes with the territory I guess. At least it's a cheap fix although time consuming but that's what we do right?

    • @cwatson42785
      @cwatson42785 Před 2 lety

      I'm talking more about this specific location where he doesn't/hasn't run here alot. I think with the bigger rocks/terrain it's probably suited more for a metal chassis. If you land on a decent size rock off a 20-30 foot jump that plastic chassis trucks won't fair that well. I guess time will tell if he keeps breaking the chassis's or if this was a tough break and some bad luck at this spot. If it was just the jump itself I'd imagine he's gonna break the chassis every outing or have it happen multiple times. My point was most people won't have this be a issue as he's sending them crazy high onto rough rocky terrain. It's definitely gonna be interesting to see if he has the same issue again or was a breakage that comes with jumping them so high on rough grade terrain. His review is probably coming soon

I've got a couple of old 3s that I run to much success because I switch the controller down to 50% power because 100% is just too much for me. on a circular bmx track that's about 20 metres (66ft) end to end having a max speed of 55mph isn't much use to me lol

    Interesting to learn what the limits are! My guess is plastic chassis + heavy 4S lipo + 30ft jumps = cracked chassis. Should be an easy fix, maybe just add a piece of foam underneath the battery next time to absorb the forces. Otherwise the rest of the truck looks durable as heck!

    • @DaDa-ei1zz
      @DaDa-ei1zz Před 2 lety

      The battery doesn‘t move when you jump, so there is no force from the upper side on the chassis. The force from the bottom side is much much stronger when landing. The bigger the battery, the bigger the force. If there is a little stone, the whole force is baled on that point and the Chassis cracks.

    • @geodude3966
      @geodude3966 Před 2 lety +1

      @@DaDa-ei1zz Ever sit in your car, hit the gas, then feel yourself get pushed back into your seat? Even though you're not moving much, you can feel the force from the acceleration. That's what force is, mass x acceleration. The heavier the battery and more acceleration from bigger jumps, the more force is created against the chassis underneath the battery when the truck suddenly lands/stops. That's why adding foam underneath the battery is an easy fix, helps absorb the forces to prevent the chassis from cracking. It's not cracking because it's hitting a stone, you can see the cracks right underneath the battery tray from the forces of the battery.

    • @DaDa-ei1zz
