Off topic but Desire looks like how I imagine an evil version of Aphrodite from Greek Mythology. (It makes sense for them to be non-binary anyway, people of different genders experience the feeling of desire abd their the personification of . . . well. . . Desire, if that makes sense)
I'm happy for the actress that she got a part in this overall awesome show, but I am a little bit insulted that "Despair" is portrayed as a fat and poorly kempt woman. I know its how she was portrayed in the comics. But they portrayed some other characters differently, I wish they had done that with this character.
I've never seen Mason in anything so I wasn't expecting that voice at all and it fits the character so well. They're just so captivating, I hope they get more time to shine in season 2.
In Cowboy BeBop he has a role in somewhat similar flamboyant nature. I feel this is a role made for him. I hope he doesn't get type cast though. I have a feeling he can be easily play other types of characters. Not a complain... just something worth pointing out.

I really wanna give props to Neil Gaiman and Sandman for depicting their personified desire/lust as androgynous and gender-fluid instead of just a feminine or female appearance like in most media bc men and the masculine can be seductive too (as shown through them seducting and impregnating Unity as the "golden-eyed man" in her dreams) and Desire embodies both
This is how desire was in the comics. There is literally a line said by desire in reference to their twin where they say “sometimes I am their sister” implying they are both a brother and sister to their siblings depending on a desire or situation. They are mostly a “they” but in situations like with unity they were male and fathered a child. So this is comic book accurate.

I think this is the first time in my life that i feel real sexual atraction towards a person that's not a woman. Holy fucking shit, They are perfection personified. The ice cold smile. The eyes, looking at you with the highest passion, that could be anything from the hottest sexual attraction, to the most evil murderous intent. And i would let Them do all that to me. High praise to Mason Alexander, as a lifelong fan of the comics and every work of Neil Gaiman himself, They have earned my full respect.

Desire is an antagonist, since the story is told from Dream's perspective. But Gaiman has stated that it would be very easy to tell a story from Desire's perspective in which Dream is the antagonist. And to be honest, Dream (at least in the comics) is a MASSIVE dick. Desire very rightly points out that what he did to Nada, for example, is monstrous.
Desire is perfectly portrayed in this show. Desire is something that can apply to anyone or anything. The embodiment of it having a female face, a male body and an androgynous voice and a tail is so perfect. I truly believe that if desire had a physical form this would be it.
I admit I was a bit skeptical of this character at first, but they grew on me *very* quickly. I hope they have more screen time if we get a Season 2 because Mason is clearly having a blast in this role.

Mason Alexander Park absolutely knocked it out of the park! Their performance embodied everything that desire is (ex: hunger, lust, sex, temptation, rage, etc.) and the look of Desire's chamber was radiant and reminded me of NBC's Hannibal at times. I hope we get more of Desire in season two!
I love the interplay of the personifications, the way Dream actually desires what comes about, and we know what happens to Desire's dream, how closed-off and estranged they become after it's done.
