Who would hate this band? I mean they are amazing
I both hate them and love them
I mean there are only maybe 2 songs out of everything they've ever made I don't like. There isn't another band that can consistently make every song so amazing I know of.

This is what in my opinion, sounds like to me....The opening "the walls I've built to keep you out are starting to rust, because everything around me just reminds me of us" means that at the end of the relationship, whatever happened between them, all he wanted was to shut her out, and he tries but everything he sees brings back memories, and nostalgia and love push through the resentment and pain. Then he says "I'm an addict for dramatic, black hair and pale skin, yet I'm still collecting bones, that's why closets are for skeletons"
What I get from that is that even though things are still happening that tear him apart inside, he represses the pain and tries to look past it
The next line "undress your body, hold it over my head, because you know that if you knock I'll always let you in"
I don't see this as a physical undressing of her, I see it as symbolic of the feelings he has for her, saying "undress your body, hold it over my head" is almost ritualistic in a sense that he sees her and only her, and "because you know that if you knock I'll always let you in", is saying that even though he's put himself through the hurt and pain and suffered through whatever happened, if she wants him back, he'll never turn her down.
The next part is honestly a little weird and though it ties in with "undress your body" it doesn't have much else to me to do with the previous lyrics after the last line. He says "I've been numb for so long that I forgot how to feel, so I don't care if it will break my heart, just fuck me till we disappear"
"I've been numb for so long, I forgot how to feel" - is meaning that whatever happened between them left him empty inside and there's a void of emotion and complete lack of feeling on his end, to the point that he doesn't know what it's like to feel for anyone anymore. "So I don't care if it will break my heart just fuck me till we disappear" doesn't really tie in with the rest of it, and doesn't seem to have any sort of symbolic meaning, instead seeming like he's blatantly just saying he wants her to fuck him.
The next part is a variation on the first verse. He says "the wall that I have built to keep you out has crumbled to dust, and I hope that everything you see reminds you of us" - here he's saying that he's completely lost himself to her and that his love for her has prevailed over the pain and anger that he once had, and that he's given up on trying to hate her. "I hope that everything you see reminds you of us" - he wants her to go through the same sort of suffering that he went through so that she knows how he feels, and wants the memories of them together to be the dominant thoughts she has. Then he repeats "so I don't care if it will break my heart, just fuck me till we disappear" - again kind of obvious although I still don't understand the "till we disappear part, unless he's saying he wants her to be only his
Then moves on to say "you said you'd never hurt me, now this is all that we have left". Meaning to me that he put his trust in her and that it was somehow betrayed and that all that's left is space between them. Then "you were supposed to save me from myself" saying that he gave everything to her and wanted in return, to get some semblance of himself out of her that he couldn't find on his own. Or to stop who he felt he was becoming.
(Repeats previous part again)
Next part is "you said you'd never love me look how hard someone can fall, I was supposed to save you from yourself" - here I see multiple meanings, but saying "you said you'd never love me look how hard someone can fall" I think he's saying that although she said she couldn't love him again, she's fallen for him, and she's once again in love with him. "I was supposed to save you from yourself" meaning that he was supposed to be there for her as well.
Then the direction of the song changes from memory to reality (present). He says "now the sky is on fire, and we lie wide awake, there is no other way then to make this mistake, we can't control who we hurt so we fuck the pain away" - at this point, she's made her mind up to come back to him, and there's nothing left for them to be together, "we can't control who we hurt so we fuck the pain away", the feelings they have for each other have drawn them back to each other, and even though they're well aware that it will hurt others, the passion between them pulls them back to each other.
Then next part is "so put all of your pride, all your guilt into me, and suck the breath from my lungs, and I'll swallow your hate" - he's saying that whatever resentment or negativity she has, to give herself to him and let the problems be his burden to carry. "Suck the breath from my lungs, and I'll swallow your hate" - is him trying to give her the life he has in him to make her happier, symbolic of giving the "the breath of life", and "I'll swallow your hate", again, saying that her problems he won't let her face alone.
He then ends on "we can't control who we hurt, so we fuck the pain away", reiterating that throughout everything that happened, their passion for each other can't keep them apart.

This Song leaves a bittersweet taste in my mouth. Back then I fell in love with my best friend and soulmate. We immediately became friends, due to the fact that we shared the same tastes in music, etc. We even knew and loved the same indie bands. Besides that, we finish each other's sentences and share very similar values.. It took me months to realize my feelings for him but I kept my mouth shut, even though it hurt like hell. During that time our relationship slowly changed into something physically. My crush on him mixed with lust and guilt became a dangerously addictive cocktail. I couldn't sleep and barely ate anything. I just survived on this absolutely insane cocktail, waiting for the unavoidable tragedy to happen, while my soulmate still pretended it was only physical attraction between us. However, as time went on, our relationship became more emotional. I don't know how to explain, but he started to treat me differently. He became so much softer. But I never mentioned it except for some very vague things. We confessed indirectly a few times before we were brave enough to finally tell each other how we felt. This whole process took us over a year, as we both were extremely skeptical, due to past heartbreaks and mental health problems. We nearly missed the chance, as he tried to stay sane and I had to deal with my own demons at the same time (depression, ptsd, anxiety, etc.) But we still managed to overcome our fears and now we are a quite normal and healthy couple. And now with our first child, our relationship gained strength and stability. Our crush turned into love but this Song will remain in the back of my head. It was heaven and hell in a unhealthy mixture but we managed to overcome the obstacles.
