This is way more complicated than it needs to be. Start with the line in middle from front to back of canopy creating the silhouette/outline of the canopy Size down .6 on both sides of each piece and make .1 to .2 for thickness depending on what you like. Then clone each piece out to the left and right. rotate each cloned piece 20 degrees and move it down/inward .1 repeat by cloning again rotating and moving it down until you get to the 90 degree point on the last row then only rotate 10 and move down .05 you may need to shorten some of the pieces in width on the curved portion to meet your planes edges with a bit of trial and error.
