After 13 years, the temperature sensor for my Kenmore Elite (LG) fridge failed. Food and beverages located in the fridge section were completely frozen. This was an easy fix for less than $20. Temperature sensors prevent a refrigerator or freezer from becoming too hold or too cold. Simply, they maintain proper temperature and prevent temperature fluctuations.

You actually show the resistance range, thank you. (about 1.5 k-ohm for body temp warm to 16 k-ohm for freezer cold - what my resistor is reading, i.e. not broken)

Great video, tutorial was clear and simple. The temperature sensor you located behind the icemaker, is it a temp. sensor for the fridge or icemaker? I have similar refrigerator, the freezer freezes well but fridge side is experiencing temperature fluctuation between 40-55 degrees. What do you think is the problem?

If the tempeture sensor is freezing your freezer the fan isn't able to blow the proper air into your refrigerator. Thats why the fridge is getting hot. I'm having dame problem. I just bought temp sensor and going to put in today.

Thank you for the video, there is actually a temperature sensor on the freezer for my refrigerator. I am not getting the set temperature on mine, either in the freezer or the fridge. it is running 45 when I set the temperature at 37, and the freezer is set -3F and I am getting like 15 F. Do you think it is the temperature sensor. The compressor seems to be running fine, with no click and the condenser fan is on as the condenser coil has temperature difference to the ambient about 30 F. Thank you in advance.

how many temperature sensors are in your refrigerator (one, two or three)? Is there one in the freezer section as well? How did you determine that you had a ~4k ohm thermistor? Did the sheet come with the exact replacement?

Hello I hope someone can help, I have a Whirlpool fridge freezer, freezer section is good (cold as it should be) fridge section temp control is set to 2c but it doesn’t get to that, temp hovers around 5-6c, no ice on coils, damper vent works it opens and closes, no dirt on condenser coils, something is telling the camper door to close early. Would anyone know what I can check, Fridge is cold but not cold enough.
    Thanks

@@truhabits7338 try your damper door, open fridge door press door switch and see if there’s air coming out from the vent

If you are getting 3.1kohm at 70F then you probably have a 2k5 ohm thermistor with a beta value of 4000k. There are online thermistor calculators. The beta value depends on the manufacturer but 4000k is ok as a ballpark figure. All thermistors are rated at 25C or 77F.
