Baby truck. Can't wait for the new HD to come out!
should we take bets that it looks almost exactly the same....again
Ram really needs to use this cab in the 2500/3500!
Honestly I'd prefer if they made the 2500/3500 cab a bit bigger. I love my 2020 2500, but just wish there was a bit more room inside. I want to feel like I'm driving a bigger truck, not a 1500 with different badging.
All the other guys use basically the same cab in their HD trucks as their 1/2 tons. I have no idea why Ram refuses to update the cab in their HD’s???
@@riccochet704 I have a friend with the new 1500 cab, it’s huge, especially compared to the current 2500/3500. But I agree they should do something to make it look different from the 1500 if they do decide to use it.
@@GreenMountain565 Ford and GM's HD cabs are not the same as their 1/2 ton's.
@@riccochet704 size wise they are
Love the fact there is no sunroof and no rear entertainment in a well equipped model
I’ve been waiting for the new Heavy Duty for over a year to replace my fourth gen Cummins. These half ton truck are all really nice. But Ram really knows how to make an interior a serious cut above the competition with materials, design, quality and detail.
It would be cool if cummins made a small displacement straight 6 for this truck.
It would but only The 3.0L inline six from Duramax will prob be the only option for ½ ton diesel on the market forever
@@ImYourHucklebery117ram already has a half ton diesel pickup
@@joep1278Yes but it's v6 not inline 6 like the coment says
Anyone have a hundred grand laying around they don't need so I can get one of these?😂
Agree and for the money the all new Ram 2500 with all new Cummins I6 diesel mated to the proven (rumored) HD 8sp ZF transmission are game changers.
@@icare7151 I'm waiting for the new Ram 2500
Base price $40,245
@@lightwiz267 for 76% interest paid weekly and the first nonpayment means I take everything you own. Sure.
Even BMW doesn't try to squeeze out so much power from a 3 L turbo engine. And this one is supposed to pull heavy loads. It's going to be a festival of carnage
I have the same concerns.
You a brave man. There is no way I would touch a ‘25 Stellantis product. Good luck!
Absolute Beautiful Truck, Ram knocked it out the park with the interior.
As usual
Nice looking truck! It must go like a bat out of hell too. Love the interior and tailgate. I do hope they put this interior in the HD trucks.
Very nice review and complete. I chose a RAM 1500 in 2022 because of 2 things, RAM does not package a sunroof in an option package, it is a stand alone option. I'm like you, not a fan of sunroofs. The second reason was the split tailgate. You mentioned that some say why. Well, it is a use case, I often pick up 40 and 50 pound bags of what ever and no longer do I need to lift the products over the tailgate, thank you RAM.
On the Internet forums, the guys are kicking and screaming over loosing the HEMI and I, well, I'm not happy about loosing the ECODiesel. I guess I won't worry about it until the time comes to replace my 2022 Loghorn.
Too much tech, bells, whistles more to break) impacting the weight and thus too little payload for a half ton truck. My old Jeep Gladiator midsized truck had more payload. Think I will stick with the HD tradesman with massive payload and still extremely comfortable with all the necessities which probably cost less
I just spent $15k on a 1998 3500HD dump bed with 74k original miles. Spotless paint and body, flawless original interior…. 2nd owner. Guy is a classic car collector… took care of his stuff. Deals are out there. (Plus no dpf or def…)…. Wont find me buying new anytime soon….
Edit: plus it wont get stolen since its a 5spd manual… lol
1193lbs payload?!
If you haul 5 full sized adults, you may have capacity left to load one bicycle :)
The rear seat cupholders in front of the passengers can hold a tablet between.
By the time I have enough money, the 2036 edition will already be 25 years old…😂
Great thorough review on that beauty JD👌
They did not change the cab size on these trucks. This truck is a minor refresh from the 19-24 Ram 1500. Aside from the power train of course.
In the tailgate wars, I do like this one the best. Simple and effective. I just wish the smaller side was on the driver side and could open first. I feel that would be better if there is a trailer hooked up.
Oh you're right, it makes sense 👍
As someone who has this tailgate I agree 1000%
Best half-ton truck on the road. Hands down
Awesome truck, ticks every box for me.
I could never get over why all car makers are putting 6 cylinders in big trucks
Those upper corner convex mirrors on the outside mirrors is a pretty good indication this truck doesn't have blind spot monitoring, which is absolutely mind boggling on a truck priced in the mid 80s.
Hope ya'll made it through the storms unscathed.
What about the 3500? Any review of that coming?
Why does it have the towing knob without the towing mirrors? Be nice to see a 3500/5500 Megacab with an 8ft bed for us full time RVers.
It’s not “All new” but nice updates.
Thank you, 🌹
Good video!❤
I'd like to see the 3500 version of this truck!
Nicest interior in a half ton truck for sure. I’m surprised Ford or GM hasn’t copied the rear seat recline feature, since the truck manufacturers are all trying to one up the competition
There’s no replacement for Displacement 😊❤. Cummins 6.7
Love out 2024 Ram
Can you show how you check the oil from under the hood
I own a '21 RAM LIMITED with the Night Edition. Amazing truck, I love it. Other than that SST HO, I dont see a lot of incentive to upgrade to the new gen.
Heck with this, I want to see the Ram 2500 with the new, more powerful Cummins diesel paired with the new 8-speed transmission.
can you please do a short video on the different sizes of pickups in which to pull larger RV's with? like Luxes and Brinkleys before you cant use a pickup anymore and have to go to a baby freightliner or volvo, thank you
Sure, but my general number is when a Fifth wheel RVs GVWR exceeds 25,000lbs AND/OR the pin weight exceeds 4,500lbs. At that point, all the Crew Cab, 4x4 Dually trucks will likely be at their max payload, fifth wheel hitch rating, and safe towing limit. Even then, that might be too heavy for most.
No dipstick, no way. I like that it’s an inline 6, I just don’t trust fiat/stilantis to build something reliable. And I don’t trust a sensor to tell me the oil level.
Ram needs to change the cab on their HD trucks and need to add leaf spring options to the 1/2 and 3/4 ton truck
Ain't that the truth
How is the towing with the air suspension in cross winds?
That question is probably better asked of TFLTruck
If you want a panoramic roof you get a Tungsten model.
Beautiful truck. But my 2022 Ecodiesel 1500 Laramie is nicely equipped and has 1550lbs of payload capacity, which I need for towing my travel trailer.
While it may look like it I don’t believe they changed anything about the cab. Legroom/headroom is the same as last years. Honestly they really didn’t do a whole lot- headlights are a little different and the grill is slightly updated but that’s it. You have the fancy screen on the passenger side as well. Big changes are really under the hood….
Dang that’s an insane amount of power
Am I sad to see V8s go? Yes
Am I happy to see how far technology has gone? Yes
Bug the ram I’m excited to see it the gas electric truck
Hp is nuts for a 1500.
How much of this will carry over to the 2500 & 3500s?
I hope a lot, love the truck, even more so if it was the new 3500.
Wouldn’t hold your breath. While it looks like the Cummins is getting a makeover with a new single option new engine the 6.4 will remain as well as the same tired Cab they have had since like 2009
Payload in my Tiguan is only 100lbs lower 🤣
Any jerkiness from the trans at low speed/low rpm?
Yes, quite a bit
I guess the chip shortage is over. 😆
$86 thousand for a half ton truck 😮 wow
No V8, I'll pass.
You can't afford one
@@atg1338 What makes you think I can't?
Can’t believe they did not put a dipstick to check your oil in that truck so stupid
That truck is 80% of the previous refresh. Not all new. It's a refresh. Not all new Not all new. Same cab same bed same interior with slight changes. It's still a 5th gen not the 6th gen.
I'm pretty sure I heard him say refresh at least twice.
You can keep all that touch screen stuff. It will only end up failing and cost thousands to fix.
Especially the trailer brake gain. I wanna know who's idea that was
Finally got a great design but still very unaffordable
Looks real nice. Only problem in general is that these vehicles are getting to techie. While one should be stopped to mess with the huge screen, reality is people will operate it while driving. Too many distractions. Let’s go back to ‘80’s and make these trucks more affordable.
Call me old fashioned, but there are certain features/controls that I prefer to be mechanical buttons/controls rather than be on the touch screen. Like the trailer brake gain. That's an important function that I don't want to be taking my eyes off the road to use. With real buttons I can feel for them and not inadvertently be changing something else on the touch screen.
Agree about the trailer brake- I do feel since that's an actual safety device, *probably* shouldn't be in the display.
@@Scout819 If the display or infotainment system as whole fails you're pretty well screwed for a lot of functions. Safety devices shouldn't be one of them.
A half ton pickup should not cost more than a livable house
What hell hole area do you live in ?
Where politicians still have some brains and haven't f'd everyone yet.@@atg1338
And the new engine has no dipstick, I like the engine, but hate this. Hope this doesn’t become a trend, removing transmission dipstick was bad enough.
All new extremely expensive nom selling price. Impressive
I really like the straight six idea if they can keep it working
I guess you're not going to be hauling manure in this pretty truck.
Too bad they didn't pick up the cummins that nissan discontinued. It would have been a good 1/2 engine.
Ram passed on it years ago. rumor I heard was it was not fuel efficient enough for ram. But yes I agree.
Payload of 1100lbs is lower than my BMW X5....
The grill is too big and the chrome on the front especially is too gaudy. The body style before on the Ram 1500 was nice. Just my opinion. At $86k for a loaded Ram 1500 is ridiculous. For any 150 or 1500 Series truck. The center screen is very large mainly long and would be distracting when driving.
I hope their all new engine is better than Toyota's all new engine.
Still going with the portrait mode on the center screen. I just don’t like that.
So this truck lists for more then my ‘24 Silverado 2500 Duramax LTZ…..yikes!
RUST!
Did he just say $80,000 is inexpensive??? Not everyone has a you-tube channel
Please indicate exactly where I said $80,000 was inexpensive. This is a listening and comprehension exercise for you
Does not look all new to me
The HO engine is Ram’s answer to replace the EcoDiesel. However, fuel economy is a major downgrade from the outgoing EcoDiesel.
GM straight 6 diesel is now the leader with superior fuel economy along with great power and torque.
I have the '21 baby duramax. Waiting for the 100k mile $6k oil pump belt required maintenance. But we have seen 28 mpg and it makes good power.
@@MarkBarrack I am ordering a 2025 baby duramax I6 diesel GMC ultimate Denali and installing Firestone Air Rite front and rear air suspension.
Payload 50 pounds
My bet is you won't be able to tow the Surveyor with your wife and daughter with this truck. Maybe if you go by yourself with the Surveyor empty. The Coachmen Catalina in your other video is probably a better match for this RAM. We will see ....
Needs more head and legroom... too small... I'm a big guy, and have to squeeze in... GMC HD size would be nice.
Looks like a Toyota from the front
6 cylinder… that’s not a real truck…. But I guess you can go to dinner in it……
6 cylinder engines have been truck engines since forever. I had a '68 C60 with a gas straight 6. 45 mph loaded. 60 mph empty if you had a long runway.
@@MarkBarrack you are right… I should have been more specific. Towing with a pickup truck’s 6 cylinder even with a twin turbo is just not the same as with an 8 cylinder. The specs say it should be as good or better, but it just isn’t.
@@cb4874 all good. Old truck 6 cylinder were always good at low end torque. Until we just picked up a 3.0l duramax (which is nice) I haven't driven a straight six in 30 years
Oh boy, paying to test out a new engine for a company! Just like a Toyota Tundra! 😂😂😂 - Nope. 👎🏼
Stay away from that 1st yr engine
Still looks like the same old Ram truck to me. Just minor cosmetic changes. Too expensive. No V8. Love the interiors of Rams, but hate the exterior looks.
Great truck but way over priced.
I hope that ridiculously long intro is not a trend. I don't need you to waste my time, I can do it myself
It will never not be a Ram….pass
I have had four Rams. My current one is a 2020 1500 Laramie. Sadly, i can no longer afford trucks anymore. I think you are drifting away from your core audience. This truck is no longer affordable to the great Middle class. Same with your truck. If you don't start looking at trucks that we can afford, I will have to unsubscribe as the information you are giving us is completely useless.
Well. Bye.
What core audience are you talking about? He has always had higher end pickups from the beginning of his channel. Seems like he is staying true to his core audience.
I'm here for the fancy tech savy haulers. This truck doesn't meet the hauler aspect but the rest is in my ballpark. Glad he showed what RAM has to offer.
I’m a low trim kind of guy and like to pay cash for vehicles. I’m holding onto my 04 Dodge 2500 5.9L and 03 F150 5.4L that both have knobs for AC and radio. KISS is my motto.
Well I am certainly happy that you guys can afford an $82,000 pickup truck. There are plenty of high end trucks in every Ram Lot I have passed!
Be careful buying a brand that the CCP (BYD) is considering purchasing from the French. Do you really want to be stuck with a brand that is either being sold or shut down. After all Stellantis CEO said Dodge, Ram and Jeep are not American companies. The French are only interested in keeping Jeep which has brand value.
WTF is this tone policing... from the channel owner? Seriously? Out of here 2 mins in...
Is that a long bed looks like it
Looks like “bed” option rather than regular or long. Not enough space between the wheel wells and the cab.
