How do you determine what style of bow to use and what an odd bow
Different times, instruments and styles need different bows first of all. There was a development of different bows.
This 1800 Dodd bow is e.g. perfect for the Dragonetti but even Beethoven or Mozart. (So the late time of when they still understood double basses as the most important (bass) instrument of the orchestra and did not castrate the bass to be played with the castrated cello.)
