Yeah, no need for a thumbs down, even if srv isn't to ones liking.....
Amen DD my thoughts exactly
They just give thumbs down to be dopes.it shows they don't know music, period.
After almost 30 years since his death and he can still make you turn the sound up to hear every note and word. He will be missed until the end of time.
That’s what I’m talking about!
There's blues players, good ones, great ones,an one who will always be on top of it all.SRV.what would be be playing.now.
Best guitarist the lord ever created 😊
He didn't just make music, He WAS the music.

Had the opportunity to meet the man, having scored backstage passes for myself and my then very pregnant wife. The line backstage was huge, and she couldn't stand any longer, so she went to sit down on a table in the corner. I stuck it out and he came out to meet the fans, a bloody towel wrapped around his fingers. Some guy yelled out, "So, whaddya gonna do now, man?" referencing his bloody, lotion-slick fingers. Stevie Ray just smiled, "Well, now I just get out the slide!" He had to play extra hard that night because Jeff Beck, had the flu and had to leave early. They were swapping top billing, one night Stevie, the next night, Jeff, but you could see how sick Jeff was, and after a few songs Steve Ray came out to spell him. So I waited in line till it was my turn to meet the man, after at least 50 people, each receiving a genuine smile, firm handshake and a look straight in the eye. I stepped up and he shook my hand, good firm grip, looked me straight in the eye. I told him I first saw him in Mannheim, Germany in '85 at the Festhalle, which is where they held town meetings, and of course fests. We grabbed a piece of floor five feet from the stage, which was only about four feet higher than the audience, so I was about 15 feet away from him as he just tore the house down! Anyway, after he signed my backstage pass, I asked him if, after he was done with all the folks behind me in line, he might come over and sign my pregnant wife's leg, since that's where she pasted her backstage pass, and said he would. I went over to stand with her, and sure enough, he came over, sat on the edge of the table and signed her pass, and we had a nice chat. He said his next stop was home and back to his baby. I think he and Lenny were getting back together. I commented that he did a little Hendrix medley, Voodoo Chile, Little Wing, The Wind Cries Mary, ending up with Mary had a Little Lamb. "You liked that? Well, I'm glad. We weren't sure how it would go over. I'm glad you dug it." Then it was time to go, and he shook my hand one more time, squeezed my wife's shoulder, and said, "Take care, and good luck with that baby," and you could feel he really meant it. Such a class act!
Chuck Larntz - wow! And I thought I was lucky getting close to the stage in 1983! Respect to you Sir.
I would love to hear that wind cries mary
Unreal!
Wonderful story!
That story actually just choked me up. What a loss, he'll never be replaced. There was/is nobody who sounded like Stevie - a true original. Thanks for sharing.
The thing about Stevie is that he never held anything back. As soon as he touched a guitar the Blues just came cascading out of every cell in his body. He was full tilt wide open every time he played. Phenomenal.
fuck yes left it all on the stage
What about his brother?
Good God, we were robbed. This man has been gone 30 years, and I'm still blown away by his performances. And most everyone recognizes that he was an awesome guitarist, but his singing may be the most underrated in blues-rock. His voice haunts me, and I miss him so much.
You are so right . He was so talented and had just got sober before his death. Few deaths have affected me as much as his. Lennon , EVH , and Dimebag among others.

As incredible as it was to see Stevie in his earlier days...raw, hungry, consumed.....after he cleaned up there was such a clarity and control to his music and playing. It didn't lose its edge at all or become more academic, etc, it was just better, tighter, clearer. Makes it that much more painful that we lost him so early. He was truly at his best here. If there's anyone in rock to take inspiration from, it's him. The last true guitar hero. The best there was.
Eric Clapton Rolling Stone Interview speaking on the night of SRV's helicopter crash.
"The worst thing for me was that Stevie Ray had been sober for three years and was at his peak. When he played that night, he had all of us standing mere with our jaws dropped. I mean, Robert Cray and Jimmie Vaughan and Buddy Guy were just watching in awe. There was no one better than him on this planet. Really unbelievable"
@William Walker tightrope, one of the coolest songs ever and so meaningful
Very well said and I'm in total agreement!!
I saw him early in a small venue called JBs theater and I also saw him at larger events and finally when I saw he cleaned up his act and got sober, I was thinking there's a little less fear of him dying on us, and less fear of the tragic alcohol or drug induced death, and now he's going to live a very long life, sort of like a BB King or Les Paul type of legend.
I was so wrong, and very sad that I'd never get to buy a ticket and see him again.
One of my favorites is Riviera Paradise.
Rest in peace brother. Another one gone to soon. Rest in peace and peace to your family.
I was at this show. Stevie's playing would kill Covid-19 if he were still around. RIP SRV.
Me too. 1st concert I went to at Starwood. Amazing.
I'm jealous of you two. Stay healthy these days

Had the pleasure of Stevie open for, believe it or not, Huey Lewis, outdoor venue OKCity 86’, if I remember right, 86 or 87?

Nobody like SRV. I saw him twice. After he cleaned up. I feel in love with him and Blues baby!
For sure!
I'm nearly 60 years old and I've never really understood artistry until I discovered SRV and Double Trouble. RIP
When it sounds better live than the studio album you have confirmation of his talent.
YES,! I know your comment is a year old, but thank you for saying - perfectly - what I’ve been trying to say but couldn’t. I just say, “Watch him live.” The music is fantastic, but watching him rather than just listening - is extraordinary. Not to dis listening, but man… my brain stops working every time I try to describe him. There’s just no… Nothing . Nobody.
Shepherd's Chapel Network !!!!!!! Pastor Murray is an Anointed Servant of GOD who teaches the Word of GOD with Authority!!!!!!!
SRV always liked to be in front of an audience it's like he fed off their reaction to his playing and the more the audience reacted the more intense his playing got
Amen to cool to bad love to have met him he says what I say about dope it's a lie an u feel nothin but that's why people do it covers pain like well dont matter it's a lie
I know that boys with god I look up alot most people look down even when they pray I dont glad he got there before he passed so glad we know hes in light
I don't believe I've ever seen SRV miss a note, or make an error when playing! He was an absolute master at his craft, and a musical artist extraordinaire! There'll never be another like him! Gone far too soon..
I think he’s beyond the missing the note mistakes. His mistakes are probably “oh I could have played this part even better” but we wouldn’t notice because it’s already far better than anything we could have come up with lol
Any "mistake" gets bent and twisted until it becomes right in his hands
Too good for that. Even if he did slip up (not possible) he'd have improvised it into something magic right on the spot anyway.
MTV Unplugged “Life Without You” where he played on an acoustic 12 string and stopped the song cuz he messed up.
You are mistaken. Hahaha sorry just kidding. Yes stevis would make a few mistakes but not as nany as jimi hendrix!
I remember I was watching Stevie’s last concert that was aired on Austin City Limits. He was awesome. The very next morning I heard on the news over the radio about his death in a helicopter crash leaving Alpine Valley. I was shocked and looked at the radio and said in my mind, “ I just watched him in a live concert just a few hours ago and now he is dead.” I do believe that was not only the fact that he really gave that concert is very best but more his willingness to even help strangers get off drugs and alcohol. The man lived by what he preached. He was truly a great man.
I put this comment under "Without You"-- Nashville, but wanted you to also see reply personally because your comment touched me so much, so... here goes... Not to be preachy, but I believe God left him here long enough to get salvation, then took him home to paradise to be with him. We got to keep him a few more years clean, sober for him to be a witness, then time to go to his Heavenly Abode to be with Jesus. I know I'll see Stevie in the Heavenly choir. Hallelujah !!! I guess I ended up being " preachy " anyway. but I think Stevie would have liked it and said "Show some love". Adding to this, was a hospice patient ( medical care with less than 6 months to live), 18years ago. Back on it and won't be long before going to join SRV. Delivering my "witness" almost completed. I hope this helps someone to find the WAY !!! God Bless

Unfortunately, many didn't

@@chrisg.209 I'd say going to see Dweezil Zappa and the Muthas play a local show about 4 years ago is the most musically entertained I've ever been for under $50. Some in the Chicago blues scene I'd say were definitively better or equal with SRV in intuitive handling of the guitar and songwriting but the style he cut in for himself and the ease with which he did it for a wider audience is top shelf. You instantly know it's a SRV joint in the first 5 bars.

Best guitaris ever ,since gutair was invented
We were at work ,it came over the radio, I picked up the radio and tossed it..
Damn. He breaks a string with the guitar behind his back and handles it like a boss.
When I was jounger, I used to spend my lonely nights in blues bars. That's where I heard Stevie play for the first time on a tape between two sets of a random live band. It was an instant strike. He got me into LOVING the Stratocaster and wanting to play the guitar which I began to do a few weeks later on a shitty strat copy I bought to a schoolmate and that I had to hide from my parents who just hated electric guitars not to mention their players. And today, 35yrs later, he is still my absolute guitar hero. He learnt me about everything about guitars and how to play the blues the way I really like it... What a beast! I consider him like a soulbrother. Never felt such a loss than the day he left us. I cried like I lost my own brother. I loved him, his sound, his feely musicality...everything about his playing resonated in me. And still does. There are a few people I really hope to meet one day up there. My longgone beloved grandfather and Stevie are definitely two of them. I could never thank him enough for all he brought into my life.
Stevie's sobriety gives me the most inspiration. One day at a time brother.
Contrived, sobby bs.
My god what a phenomenal talent, I am so grateful to have seen him live in concert just as his career was ascending. A devastating loss to the music world he will never be duplicated, imitated or replaced. Bless you SRV and thank you for the music, it will live on forever.

SRV the greatest !! Nobody comes close to his blessed talent !!
We are so lucky that this was recorded so beautifully bc if the JL telethon. It showcases not only the amazing SRV and his ultra tight band Double Trouble but it was right after SRV got off the blow and in this moment ,he was in a state of gracee and he is so generous that he shared that with us to. When he told his personal story and shared His message about how distracting drugs can be we see a true hero. IIt ook guts to make the little spontaneous public service and gratitude message. We see so much of his personality they this whole concert, adjusting his amp, talking about this going out live to a huge audience and being so touched, not a too cool entitled rock star, just a good man, a real man When he spoke of personal lost and found he was humble, not preachy and so sincere especially when he said it's is our job to spread that love around... it gives me chicken skin even if I watched it a hundred times. Thanks for the reminder my brother.
The crowd is digging him and radiating love to him and to this day that love remains unchanged or diminished in any way. Love is love and it didn't die when that crash of his helicopter took him away from us. We are still loving him . Brute force colliding with perscission that's his signature.

I did too. I was 16 years old when it happened and he was a master of the guitar!! I was devastated because not only was the my idol, I had tickets to see him before the tragedy happened. I didn't cry. I WEPT!!!
@colinmiller Tom Petty was great too!! Saw him in Charlotte NC and he played for three hours. No opening band. No particular order but in my opinion the greatest guitarists are SRV, Dickie Betts, Duane Allman and Eddie Van Halen simply because he changed the way 95% of people played the guitar when he hit the scene.
@@jarrodheglar1666 i had tickets to see ZEPPELIN in cleveland when Bonham passed . I think 1980 ? God what a loss . Never saw the true gods of rock . LED ZEPPELIN.
Wow! What a great performance by these guys! ALL OF THEM! Stevie, Tommy, Chris, and Reese. I am 57 years old and still play the crap out of my guitar. It's my morning coffee, It's my chill in the after noon, and when my lady can tolerate it, it puts my to bed. I've played all the greats from my time, not in order. Yygwie Malmsteen, Metallica, Slayer, Iron Maiden, Joe Satriani, etc.. I ALWAYS come back to Stevie to clarify my solo abilities, less distortion and nothing to hide behind. For young blues guitar players just starting out, he played 12 gauge strings if I remember correctly and could bend the crap out of them which helped give him that huge sound. With that said, performance will always be a staple if you are learning the blues! Stevie's performances, however such a short career, is your starting point to discover all the great blues players that he discovered and was lucky to play with ALL his favorites!! He earned it! To show you what his talent level he was at, check out the ending of Jimi Hendrix's "Voo Doo Child". He breaks a string on his guitar at the end of the song, finishes the song by stepping on his favorite guitar to satisfy the audience and no-one's the wiser! THAT'S A TRUE MUSICIAN!! The music world is a lesser place without him, I know mine is!!
SRV. What amazing talent can only imagine he would have accomplished. Breaks my ♥ he left us so very soon. Here he was putting it all out for a good cause Jerry Lewis telethon. Tells you alot the kind of person he was. Down to earth compassionate man with a heart of gold. Anyone who appreciates music can clearly see a true genius. RIP and always a pleasure to watch his concerts. ♥
Hi I saw. Sev when he was not totally popular abdU thought what R peoplenotgettingHe wasrhebestguiatarist since Jimi Hendrix
Help
I saw him play every chance I got, three times total, the last was 2 weeks before he died. Can't believe how bad he looked in the video for Change It, and how good he looks here. He played so much better sober. Love you, miss you, man.
No fluff here.He was a great musician. He brought all his energy to the stage.
Stevie will always be the best of the best as far as I'm concerned ~ We here in Texas sure do miss you ~ Love and Prayers ❤❤❤ ~
I was 6, and my folks took me to the Volunteer Jam. Now, years later, I'm crying ,, damn times were much simpler back then.
of the hundreds of shows i have seen even working in the industry the coolest thing i ever experienced was this surprise walking on stage the summer after my senior year in HS. long live the legend of SRV.
that transition from scuttle buttin to say what is just amazing
HE IS A REAL MAN WITH SO MUCH TALENT HOW WE R BLESSED TO HAVE HIM FOR
THE TIME WE HAD😢❤😂
June 6, 2024 still listening to my guy Steve!!! ❤❤
Everybody knew Stevie was good back in the day, but it took "CZcams" to show the world how "Great" Stevie was!
truth
+Brady Amy If you grew up in Texas like I did, we always knew.
OH YEAH
IM A TEXAN.. but i moved before stevie.
There are good guitarist and there are great guitarist ...then there's Stevie
I'm afraid I just lost it when he stopped and said, "Thank God I'm alive and well enough to be with you tonight..."
Amen Sister !
Every day I wake up and thank god I'm still here.
That hit kinda hard as I saw this video after the fact. Wishing we could go back in time and tell him not to get on that helicopter.
We'll get to hear him play again at the Big Meeting.
Probably the best rock and blues guitarist of them all.incredible control,Stevie was from another world.
He was in his prime. The band is just fantastic. It almost hurts to watch this knowing he is gone.
Pretty cool seeing the crowd just engaged with the show fully, instead of every person holding up a cell phone
Simply amazing every time I see him perform. A guitar is not just something he plays; it's genuinely a part of his body, and he is one with it. Watching this April 28, 2019, and it is still mind blowing how good he was. R.I.P
The thing that I was always impressed with about SRV was how he worked his love of old school blues into most of his songs
Stevie Ray Vaughan is unique and inimitable, forever in my heart ❤
Unforgettable. May He rest in peace.
Stevie connected to his instrument in a more visceral and "true" way than any other player I've ever seen. He's not so much "playing" the guitar as he is pouring himself into it and out of the speakers. Absolutely incredible player, fantastic singer as well. And they don't get the credit they deserve, but Layton and Shannon were among the hottest rhythm sections playing at the time and were a perfectly sympathetic backup for Stevie. Fantastic stuff.
Guy Fawkes Well said! That strat truly was an extension of his heart and soul.
I'd love to learn his style but it looks real hard.

Are you always bitching about others comments?
Brought me to tears. What a legend. Miss this guy.
Been listening all my life.. it really doesn’t get better than this folks..
"Because all I know is we're supposed to take care of each other best we can... Remember to help yourself, so you can help your brothers and sisters. You know? Let's get some love back around here okay?" -- SRV
Makes me love the guy for more than just his talent.
@@joekempel932 makes me cry every time I hear & I'm a 62 yr old wannabe bad ass, lol. Really, it's just like he's testifying ain't it?? Sweet JESUS what a testimony! How many more do yuo think would actually testify to a crowd like that, a crowd like I've been a part of countless times! Not many would, although I can think of a couple or 3 that might. That's what, if we love JESUS are suppose to do, talk to our brothers & sisters every chance we get. I'm gonna ramble just a bit further if you dont mind, lol. I believe JESUS calls some of us home when we're in a good place b/c he knows we got a good heart & soul & that we also have the free will HE gave us & bottom line, we're still human/flesh. What I mean is Stevie RAY Vaughn had a big heart & soul so JESUS called him home while he had it together b/c HE knows he was human & subject to get back on the wrong path again & he was way too good a person to take that chance...make sense?
@@carlramsey1117 It does.
Carl Ramsey wow Carl that’s a beautiful perspective.... pure heart man🤙🏻
I wrote it in my book of quotes I have had for years. It is not his first time to be in there.
