  • When I was looking for a new helmet, I wanted something with the MIPS protection system in it and the Fox SpeedFrame Pro and the Troy Lee Designs A2 were at the top of my list. I ended up getting the Fox and really liked it, but when the A3 came out from TLD, I decided to pick that one up as well to see how it compared. In this video, I'm comparing them side by side, talking about the things they have in common, and what I would end up choosing on my next ride. If you're on the fence about which one to get, this might help you!
    Full disclosure, I am not sponsored nor was I provided the helmets for free. I paid for the helmets on my own and this is my honest review. I do however, have affiliate links below that do support my channel, should you choose to use it. Thanks for stopping by!

    Thanks for the great and clear comparison between both helmets. You compare features to features and it's the right way to make it.

    Thanks for doing the awesome video dude, I've settled on the A3 now and can't wait for it to arrive

    Thanks for the comparison, helped me a lot. I might go with the A3 just because the design looks like it conforms the head more unlike the Fox that looks like it sits on your head. I hope I'm making sense. I also didn't know about the visor thing so another negative for the Fox for me. Thanks a lot!

      Try them on. TL never fit comfortably on my head, Giro either. Fox and Met do. It's dependant on head shape and no video can let you choose fit. Details such as venting can obviously be discussed but fit needs a shop.

    • @cruisinginthe808
      @cruisinginthe808  Před 2 lety +1

      Great point! If you can try one on, definitely do that to see how it actually fits your head. Unfortunately for me here in Hawaii, these helmets are hard to find in a shop, Thanks for the comment and for watching!

      Thank you! Glad you liked the video. I totally understand what you're saying but I have to say, the Fox still sits on your head pretty nicely. I don't really even notice the lack of the headliner in the back. On my ride today with the A3, I did notice more airflow in it so maybe it's not as bad as I thought it was. Both are excellent so no matter what you end up doing, I think you'll be fine. But yeah, the visor thing was surprising to me! The Fox looks like it would be way better due to how much bigger it is but the way it sits on your head like that? I was surprised that the A3 had more coverage. Thanks again for checking it out!

      @@cruisinginthe808 The ride down the volcano is 1000% a great experience. If you ride with a friend even better and you can full send down the road for 20+ miles barely pedaling its an amazing feeling and the views are spectacular. Best bikingexperiences of my life, impossible to recreate anywhere else from 8'000'. Aloha

    The sweat gutter is amazing, I wear Oakley glasses, use should use a micro fiber cloth to clean, so on the trail its great not to drip sweat on my glasses,, I had the A2, the A3 is improved in many areas, the visor can raise up to a few more positions where it locks in, Troy did his homework,, great Helmet..

    Thanks for the comparison! I have just bought the Troy Lee A3, however I am unable to center the magnetic lock under my chin. It is off to the left. TLD's official video and yours (10:34) show the same. Do you have any idea if the lock can be centered at all or is it meant to be off to the left side? Thanks in advance!

    Great review you probably should move the GoPro mount farther back which you can do so you can adjust the visor on the Fox. And as of today on Amazon Troy Lee A3 is at $178.57. 🇺🇲🤙🏼

    Had both and the Troy lee lining falls to bit and is very hard to get new lining. The Pro frame I've had two now as crashed in my last one and received a new one last month. Two sets of lining to get the fit, and haven't tried to get new liner but we will see.

    Why bother paying more for a helmet? This is consumable safety gear. As soon as you land on your head, that helmet is compromised and they all offer the same protection.

    • @cruisinginthe808
      @cruisinginthe808  Před rokem +1

      I think it just comes down to personal preference. Do what works for you! The main thing is you are protecting your head. Any helmet is better than no helmet! Thanks for watching and for the comment!

      "Why pay more for a car. All cars have safety gear. As soon as you wreck, they all offer the same protection" = your logic, yikes
