- Tattoo Color Packing Tips For Beginners! In this video I share with you the top 7 mistakes made when color packing. If your color tattoos don't pop on the skin or you struggle to pack nice solid color then these tattoo tips are an absolute must see for beginners!
I start by covering the top 7 color packing mistakes, showing you how to fix each one and then I apply everything we've learned in the video and perform a live color tattoo deliberately making the mistakes on one side of it and then fixing the mistakes on the other, so the beginner tattooist can actually see exactly what mistakes they're making!

Thank you so much! Shout out for the Super Thanks! You’ll be mentioned in the next video upload!
YOUR ADVICE IN THIS VIDEO HAS CHANGED SO MANY PEOPLE'S LIVES DUDE. I DONT THINK YOU REALLY REALIZE WHAT YOUVE JUST DONE HERE FOR THE TATTOO COMMUNITY.
Thank you I really appreciate that 😀
As someone who is currently going through the self-taught route this is SO helpful! Thank you 🙏🏻
Same 👌 to much success on our journey 💯🙏
I didn't really have a traditional apprenticeship so what I worked on for pretty much 2 years was lettering and lining, then moved into B&G shading. I've ALWAYS had a hard time with color and hated packing yellows, pinks, oranges...you know...anyway this has helped me immensely! I was never taught the simple movement of using your elbow instead of your wrist. I eventually after getting a saturated color piece by someone that's been tattooing for 25 years, asked him a bunch of questions and he did teach me a lot and that gave me more confidence. But to find your "own way" to color pack using these techniques...thank you so much for putting out this video. I wish I would have come across this 5 years ago!
I needed this video! My black packing hasn’t been coming out as Saturated and bold as I like it, takes me a quite a few passes. I immediately seen my fault. Good looking out! Jay from Los Angeles
I’m glad the channel is helping you out. Thanks for watching!
Same for me bro, needed this video. In process of doing a full color sleeve and needed to do more research on color packing. My black and gray tattooing is just fine but wanted to branch out to do more color.
'What you was doing wrong
@@henrymartinez9802 think you mean what was you doing wrong mate

I’m glad the channel is helping you out! Thanks for watching! 😀
We really miss you 🕊
How’d he pass?
I genuinely couldn’t have gotten this far in my apprenticeship without your tips! You’ve helped me elevate my tattooing in such a short amount of time, thank you for making these!
I'm glad the channel is helping you out. Thanks for watching!
This video made me subscribe. I've tattooed for 15 plus years and I never stopped learning.
Great attitude. Thank you! Welcome to the channel!
It’s always a pleasure to watch your videos. You don’t just show how to do the technique but you literally experiment and show it. Perfect for my type of learning!
Thanks for the awesome feedback!
I started tattoing over twenty years ago with a prison made machine and guitar string for a needle sharpened on a concrete cell floor of course it had no voltage control either.. now that ive dived head first with an actual machine and a live perspn for me to get practice on again your videos are gold for me.thank you
Your advice in this video especially regarding color packing from the elbow and not the wrist is pure gold! Thanks so much I really appreciate it ❤️
Thanks for watching!
And to dilute it with water makes so much sense too
Thank you so much!
It’s great seeing the difference on real skin like you always do on your videos. It’s helps so much!!
Thanks for watching!
I really liked this video. I was having trouble with my colors in right spots.

Great video, thanks J. Smith, Rest in paradise man.
Best tattoo teacher on CZcams, thanks so much for your energy ;)
Awesome tips, and I like the way you portray your content . Thanks this has given me far more confidence in my practice and although fake skin performs differently than real skin, the same applies for colour saturation. I found a vast improvement immediately. Happy days 😊
This helped a ton especially how you demonstrated both the bad technique vs good
Radiants turbo black is amazing. Stays dark black for years. Their greens and reds pack easily. Love your videos.

Thank you $o much, Jono. This video finally $love my problem. I didn’t pack colour with hard mode, and that’s y the colour always look soft. Really appreciate for your sharing. 🙇🏻♂️
I’m glad the channel is helping you out. Thanks for watching!
You’re so informative, Thankyou so much for the live examples !
Thanks for watching!
Hi Jono! As usual really detailed video and really well explained🙏. There is something else to be added - fast running machine makes vacuum into the tip of the cartridge and prevent the good flow of the Ink. I've seen many artists running their machines quick and then having always troubles with time, quality and results.
I’ve heard of this before, but I’ll definitely check it out. Thanks for the tip!
You have helped me out. Thank you
Thanks Jono. Your amazing, thanks for the important information. You are a gentleman and a scholar.

Sir this typ is soo good for tattoo making
He said I did a 50 year apprenticeship 😂🤣 amazing sense of humor love you jono great knowledge being shared here 🎉
I have a grasshopper green in that same brand. Must be cloned however I spent $65 usd for that one bottle 32oz. I got 350ml of dynamic black for 25 but I don’t really get to use color often so I stick to the tiny multicolored bottles so I don’t have to stress color mixing or grey Washing
Great video as always, thanks.
While packing colour with all these elements, should you be able to cover / cover-up lines and other detail with colours? TIA
Thank u for literally explaining every mistake i made when color packing and applying pressure lmao
Thank you for the best guidance ❤️

....excellent video...I love the information you share...greetings from Chile🇨🇱
Thanks for watching! 🇨🇱
It's so funny to me because I've learned these things, but I notice I go back to the bad technique sometimes because I still struggle with the idea of causing pain. I guess it's just something I'll have to get over, but I'm hesitant to stretch the skin if my fingers are pulling on areas I've already tattooed (because I know it'll be irritating), and I struggle to go slow and stay in the sameish area for awhile because I feel like I'm hurting them, especially if I see the blood. I think I just have to accept that my clients signed up for this, and it's okay 😅
This is what holds me back as well. My mentor keeps reminding me, “they signed up for this, commit!”
Great video! Thank youuuu
Thanks for watching!
I love your videos. You give us substantial and very solid advice on every topic an apprentice can imagine. I must admit, I skip the intro and the outro as you are too intense for me :))) but I still love your work, and thank you for your hard work so much!!!
Thanks for watching!

Thank you Jono so much, I am beginner and that's was very helpful. Peace bro. 😁✌✌
I’m glad the channel is helping you out. Thanks for watching!
I need a black and grey soft shading video. I feel like I never can get it smooth enough and I want to do portraits. I would love if you could demonstrate the same way with a portrait or flower even, in black and grey. I feel like my black and grey can be choppy or scratchy, I get nervous about overworking the skin and maybe am too timid

Yo.my brother...I'm a prison made tattoo artist..but I'm not.a.shop trained professional. You are my new mentor...I am your apprentice...I'm opening my.own shop within one year from this day...and you will be the reason I feel confident enough to open. Don't get me wrong, I can't tattoo. I've been doing it.in prison.for.6.years and on the street for 3...but I've never uad a professional teacher, you're it!!!! Thank.you!!!
Oh wow, thank you for taking the time to write this awesome comment! I’m glad the channel has helped you out. This was the main reason I stated the channel in the first place. I wish you all the luck in the world with your journey! Always look forwards and never back! 🌎

such a good tip!
Thanks for watching!
I've always used Dynamic. Love the back and the colors are bold and bright! I Def needed this on my color packing. My line work is fantastic but my color packing is not that great and I'm having to touch up clients more often.
Also, bloodline ink is very thick and use to use it before dynamic and always had to use distilled water.
I’m glad the video has helped you out. Thanks for watching!
