This is exactly the type of microaggression and racism I dealt with in my postgrad course. In fact my situation was very similar to Macy’s, except I had to deal with multiple people who behaved in a similar way to this woman.
After how unlikable and dull Macy became in Season 2 and half of Season 3 I really feel her here. Macy should've both told Karen off and kept her position.

And she no longer has a profession in science (which was progressive as she was both a woman of color and worked in the stem field) and even when she's doing science stuff it isn't because she's a scientist, is either tied into her romance with Harry or just there. In Season 2 they made her and Harry unlikable by having them in gritty love triangle/square with Abigael and Julian, while she constantly acts jealous and spiteful or stupid. Now in Season 3 while she isn't being gritty she's just mopey dopey love talk or neutral. Macy was my favorite character (and still is to some extent) but she's been downgraded ever since Mid Season 2. This episode was the ONLY time I felt she had that wallflower persona she's been missing since Season 1.

Why fake your deaths and try to leave magic behind, when you LITERALLY had a get out jail free card 4 years prior? The Original show went out of it's way to make the main characters into people who put themselves above saving the world. (Post S4 of course). The only one who was actually being true to herself was Paige (when the writing didnt dial her down to the level of her sisters at this point). If y'all dont believe me, go watch the series Manic Episodes Charmed here on youtube and it's basically an in depth review of every season of the OG series. All of the info in it was taken from the show itself, and it basically shined a light on the series on how bad it was. So don't shit on this reboot for making these sisters prioritize magic over their social lives, or that the writing is shit. I promise you, the Original wasnt anything special and shitting on this doesnt make you look cool
What the OG was missing by today and future standards has NOTHING to do with what the OG was and how unproblematic it remains... This reboot is trying to include everything so much so that they're forgetting actual quality entertainment. The original didn't even claim to be empowering but was successfully so because it was good at what it did. Campy, but good; Especially in terms of escapism television.

So I have not watched season 3 yet only seasons 1 and 2. So I have no idea about her characters treatment in season 3. However, in seasons 1 and 2 the mistreatment of Macy as a character made me wonder if the writers have colorism or racial issues. Nothing was overt, but there were very subtle nuances through her character development that made me wonder about the writers.

What the OG was missing by today and future standards has NOTHING to do with what the OG was and how unproblematic it remains... This reboot is trying to include everything so much so that they're forgetting actual quality entertainment. The original didn't even claim to be empowering but was successfully so because it was good at what it did. Campy, but good; Especially in terms of escapism television.

Honestly some people might think with the dramatic music is too dramatic but in moments like these it’s the same way in my head
So I have not watched season 3 yet only seasons 1 and 2. So I have no idea about her characters treatment in season 3.
However, in seasons 1 and 2 the mistreatment of Macy as a character made me wonder if the writers have colorism or racial issues.
Nothing was overt, but there were very subtle nuances through her character development that made me wonder about the writers.
It hurts what they did to him, it's such a real thing and it happens every day.
