This is one of the most informative videos I have ever watched on fishing for redfish! I shared it with all my fishing buddies!
Hands down best how to videos bro! Thank you for the great work! I've been fishing a lot longer than you, and still feel like I'm always learning something new from vids!
Quick intro, no yapping about nothing. Straight to the point, no dumb thumbnail . You'd be surprised how few videos are like this one, Good job and thanks.
Great job. I like the fact that your are sensitive to targeting a fish and what it takes to target it and not the hardheads, Thank your!
You guys are incredible , best information, best instruction and music to keep you focused!!
I've been fishing for Bull Reds for over 25 yrs along the Texas gulf coast. So true on the live bait , great video over all. Keep hookin them ! SLP favorite spot
Thanks! I appreciate the feedback, especially coming from an experienced angler like yourself.
great info man! Glad i got to meet you a while back on the surfside jetti!
Thanks for taking the time to share your tips. Matagorda here we come.
Slowly becoming my favorite channel. Keep it up bro. Thanks for all the great info. Best of luck
Straight forward. No hype. Legit info. Subbed. I'm headed down tomorrow.
I really enjoy every element of your game - great job BBF!
Thank you brudda! This is an excellent documentary! I think I’ll stick to spinning set up. Your awesome 👍🏼
Videos getting better keep them coming
Very well done bro. Really appreciate this video. Keep it up!
Dude.. You really share some deep fishing info in your vids. Thank you.
EXCELLENT HowTo video. Just found your channel.!!! Will watch from now on.
U got something special going on here on this channel. Keep it up
I’m from the Midwest, so I don’t get the fish salt water, but I still love your videos man they are absolutely so fun to watch. And one thing that I really loved is how you broke it down month by month. That’s super helpful even if I’m not fishing the same body of water or the same type of fishing that you’re doing the concepts really do translate to the type of fishing I do which is mostly freshwater small rivers and streams. The way that the bait in the fish run up the small rivers out of the Ohio River where I live is relatively the same as what you guys have with your different runs. So, thanks for breaking it down and keeping me entertained and keep it up man
Thanks for the info bro, it’s really good to know cus I was about to give up on surf fishing
Man, I don't know if you'll read this but I watched this video late October 2017 or so and I have been killing Reds/Black drum every time I go out ever since. This video helped me so much it's crazy man. Can't say how much I appreciate it. I live in in the Gulf Coast area of Alabama and when we had our bull red run in October/early November I caught dozens upon dozens of bull reds. The most underrated bait on this side of the pond by far is using a sand trout (we call them white trout) head with all the guts inside. Reds love it more than mullet when the white trout are super thick down here.
Thank you for this video, can't tell you how much it helped me.
Love the info! Very helpful!
Great video. As a new fisherman in general I wish there were more of these 'how to' videos for us newbies.
great video! hoping to give this a try this year.
I haven't been surf fishing in a while but my buddy (he passed away in 2010) and I used to fish the beach between surfside and San Luis pass from Aug-Oct mostly at night...we would use fresh dead shrimp or squid to catch croakers, whitings, piggies etc. then use the surf rods to send them out live...when we didn't catch any bull reds or anything else on the large side we caught a damn good buzz trying lol!
Great video man sure learned a lot just on these video alone. Thanks for the info.
I live in Lake Jackson, Texas.
I going to San Louis pass the second week of Nov.
your video is full of great information that will help my be more successful. Thanks!
Loving your videos!!
Please do more of like these videos especially on your rigs and line! Awesome videos I love them all
I caught a big 40 incher a couple weeks ago (late October) in the Louisiana surf. 20 pound mono, 6 ounce pyramid weight on a sinker slide, barrel swivel, 3 feet of fluorocarbon. Bait was just a cut finger mullet. Real simple rig, been working for me!
Awesome videos brother thanks for the tips
Great video and channel man! My boys love to fish and I am planning a camping trip to the Padre National Seashore in October to try and catch some of these Reds.
awesome, informative vid!
Solid video, heading down to Mustang Island next weekend and this was pretty helpful.
Great job on the video with a bunch of detail. I only fish hardware and my biggest red came from the Laguna Madre by Port Mansfield and I caught it on topwater, a "bone colored" top dog. Good Luck
new to surf fishing great video. thanks for the info.
Sir. Thank you! Great video. Very helpful.
Thanks for the vid! I recently moved to Savannah and have yet to master catching the Reds. I'm going to try your tips, cheers!
Great video as all ways. Take care and stay safe.
Thanks for the advice bro
Great information!
Awesome video man, gonna put everything you said in the video and try and catch me a bull red!
+Matt's Saltwater Fishing they catching them at pins left and right i heard.
Hey, thanks for this video -- good stuff. I don't even bait fish -- I fly fish -- and I found your video very useful. You helped me understand this word I hear people use down here in TX, "gut". I'm starting to understand that a "gut" is the deeper trough between sandbars. And the info on cold fronts might be useful to me one day also.
Bro... I seen this video brother! And still keep up with other of your videos! They are great! Thanks for all the useful information. I wish I lived closer to the coast... i live in Austin.. all I got is fresh water fishing which is still fun but not as big.
Good video. I'm gonna try this. Don't want to spend much on it yet so I'll try with a catfish rod and spinning reel sitting in my closet. Plan to cast net for bait along beach. Hopefully I'll get lucky.
thanx for the video. ill be fishin san louis pass the 3rd wk in sept.
Thanks So Much I learned alot. Leaving Indianapolis going to Biloxi to do some Red fishing. Wish me luck !!!
Love ur vids, bruv. Thank you
Great video brother. I'm still a rookie at fishing abut moving up the ranks. I have never caught a bull red and have been trying for the past month. I'm fan and would love to meet you at the pier one day to fish with you and learn some things. Keep up the good work. I went to the 91st pier last night and caught a Bonnet shark.
Thanks for the vid helped a lot caught my pb
Nice video man. I always carry a 6 ft super spreader cast net when I'm fishing. Live mullet or cut mullet works best when fishing skinny water!
Love this video! Thanks for the illustrations. Now, where can I go to learn more about the tides. I just didn't understand the location of the 2nd gut/cut. I want to understand this....
Great video! I go deep sea fishing twice a year, but I've never tried surf or pier fishing. I didn't know what type of gear to use, nor bait. This video gives me the basic ideas needed for surf fishing. My wife and I go to Jacksonville Florida a lot, I will try surf fishing. Do you have any pier fishing gear set-ups? Thanks for sharing the knowledge and fishing tips.👍
Thank you for an excellent video for learning on all the ways in catching Reds on surf and also understanding weather and reading Galveston & Bolivar surf. I don't usually catch Reds but large Whitings are good enough for me on the Bolivar on those bayou cuts.
+Just ROM thanks for watching! You must really know your beaches lol. Those whitings are either bait or dinner lol.
Sometimes I use whitings for bait to get the Reds if I can throw it out to the 2nd bar but other then that I'm good on eating whiting or croaker's especially, there's no limit in catching these types of fishes. Occasionally, I catch pompano, that's a really good eating fish!
Man! You deserve more subs than this. I'm going to Galveston next week from Dallas. Thanks a lot for your guide
David Lee the CZcams algorithm doesn't favor quality videos from small channels unfortunately, it mainly favors reactionary clickbair videos and fooling viewers. Good luck man, this week was great
Nice, Could you tell me a few pointers about where you went and where you caught fish.
I live in VA I go fishing for bull reds at the Chesapeake bay bridge tunnel in spring and fall when they run good. When I go I use a 2 foot leader 50 lb mono for leader and main line and I use big hmmm I don't know 4000 5000 sized reels and for bait my favorite Is bluefish we cut them up into pieces 5 inches long probably and use 4 ounce weights weve caught tons and the biggest ive ever caught was a 58 ich bull red! average size is 45 inches and I have caught a 7 foot sand shark and a few 10 foot sting rays hope you enjoy this way to catch them good luck and great video. Oh yeah also thx for the help I want to go beach fishing for them soon
Great video!!!! I don't use some of the things you mentioned..like expensive rods and reels.... I use bait shrimp....i love your set ups... I use the Carolina rig and don't have alot of issues with reds...hardheads love it though so that can be annoying...but i luv to fish so i work with what my budget allows....my wife caught a red at rollover pass (RIP!!) with a beer can and 20lb cajun red fishing line....she is actually a better fisherman than i am....we live in Dallas and go down to the Island for 1 day trips alot or 1overnight trip....but again luv your stuff bro.....
I use large mullet... they like the heads for some reason. From kayak on bottom with simple rig... last week caught a 38” & 42”
+volkswatson mullet heads work wonders man, i think it's because the eyes attract them.
I really enjoy your videos and channel! Thanks for the tips. Who did your mag on the Saltist? I agree with your love for the Spheros. I just bought the Spheros SW A 8000 and it's just a little nicer than the Spinfisher VI 6000, which is an excellent reel.
Great video and great editing, music, text and graphics! You got a talent to make videos man. I am learning about surf fishing through CZcams. I am on the east coast in GA and FL, but alot of the stuff you say is helpful. Still need to pull the trigger on my first rod and reel... what do you reccomend?
Thanks for the kind words, I appreciate that. What's your budget? Want a spinning setup or conventional?
Awesome video... I recently purchased a house on the beach near San Luis (so I just started surf fishing)... getting my 13 yr old son into it as well. I've been winging it for the last couple months, so this video helps me a LOT..... We seem to always catch Hardheads and Gafftops, fun, but not what we are looking for. If I see you on the piers or at San Luis, I'll say hi... keep the set up and bait tips coming, I feel like I've learned a lot already but still looking for that usive Bull Red. Got pretty lucky with a nice size SMACK at 61st Pier but want to cast out on my beach so been watching your vids to help me learn. Thanks, just wanted to drop you a note. Hope you see it! Lol
I fish out there a lot, you'll probably run into me. Im glad you learned a tbing kr two from the vid!
Great video!
Badass channel bro
Awesome video man. Trying to start surf fishing and this helps a lot. Preeeshiate it homez. Go Texans🤘🏽
+Rolando Hernandez hold it diine ,no prob foo, catch some monsters out there.
I got a nice sized Red up here in the New Jersey surf this year.. Big surprise
Great vidieo!
That is very impressive good knowledge I however like pins and 3/4 to 1 oz spoons. There are a veritie of ways to fish and as long as you catch them you are doing it right I go to Galveston more than pins so you will need to be able to switch up fishing styles the more you move around the bay is different than the serf the further south you go the ruffer the serf is also look for the birds working
Outstanding video. How do you hook live croaker/whiting effectively? Lip, tail, belly, back etc?
great video
Thanks for the info, I am getting my 6000's ready its been 15 years since I fished the surf 5mm
James Scarberry ah I see, might ve moving in a couple years for the same reason.
+James Scarberry awesome man! Im headed out now. If i catch, I'll post a video.
Every november in panama city fl the reds are stacked under piers along the gulf i catch squid on squid jigs amd use them live and cast under pier by pylons give it 2 mins max 40in on.
What you think of the penn slammer?
Keep up the smooth videos 🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽
Great video. Would tell how to know when and where to fish?
I catch the most Reds by free lining Shad in early October. (Not surf fishing)
Thanks for the video!!! 👍🏻
This exact spot I fish this time a year you need a boat to get to it. I don't have a boat, I rely on others to get me there. Just thought the Shad tip might help some one else. If I use Mullet there I won't catch any Reds. I'm headed there this morning!
HARRY PRUITT no?
We caught a 3 man limit in 45 mins a week ago Friday, then this past Thursday we caught a 4 man limit in two hours on Shad. 👍🏻
Sweet tip if you can’t find surgical tubing 👍. Thank you sir.
They've been in THICK these past few days at 61st pier. Went last night and saw at least 40 pulled in through out the night it was crazy!!
hell yea man, been keeping up with them on fb. Going back to the jetty tomorrow for some!
hell yea dude, try the tsunami glass minnows! What a great idea tbh
Broooooo, I use that style Carolina style rig!
I thought I was the only guy that did this lol
I’ve caught my PB using that bad boy!
A Carolina rig is something different than whats shown in video. I fish va/nc coast down to hatteras for drum. 10-13/O circle tied with nail knot using 100lbmono to swivel. 1" or less from hook to swivel. The rig is then attached to 100lb "bite leader" then to 50lb "shock" then to 15-20lb mono mainline. This is fished fishfinder rig style using 8-12oz. We don't ever use braid. always mono. 20 or 30size daiwas plenty of line for drum even with mono.
Where are you located? Does the wind guide you provided apply to the Texas coast?
Great vid! Now try some east coast surf fishing.
Thank you!! Good video I use pretty much the same as you, so you think crab all year round ? Crab is pretty much candy right?
Love you editing man. I hope to see you out on the beach one day.
Could you recommend a budget casting reel? $50-100?
Great video! When you say east wind, do you mean coming from the East and blowing west?
Hey man, what size latex tubing do you use to cast your conventional reels
Excellent video. I enjoyed comparing the differences and similarities to FL surf fishing for reds.
Beach Actually a lot of similarities. Baits: mullet and whiting. Rods/reels: same. Incoming tide: same. But in my experience the difference are conditions: all my bulls have been on calm days (but now I want to try rough days) and tackle. From what I've seen down here (myself included) we use a lot lighter main line and leaders. I don't really ever go over 30lb floro and braid. We also use a lot of knocker rigs with our live bait. But that's just my experience.
One Fish i see. So mainly conditions and tackle. We use heavier tackle due to size of baits we cast, our sandbars are very abrasive, and we have flat beaches. Ive never used a knocker rig while surf fishing.
Beach Yeah I've read some Texas surf fishing forums before and was surprised at how beefed up y'all fish. (Everything is bigger in Texas) but when you said rough conditions are better for bulls it made sense. That would be a lot of wear and tear
Beach also for live bait I love the knocker rig. Cut bait I go with fish finder
Im going to Destin in a couple weeks, hopefully catch some bull reds! Do you eat them?
new to Texas Gulf Surf Fishing Enjoyed your video do you guide?
Would the penn fierce 3 live liner be a possible option it is kinda similar to the spinfisher
How do yall fish for these monsters?
Had to delete the other vid and re uploaded, sorry.
Beach was that San Luis pass?
+Payton Tyer half the video is filmed in San Luis Pass
Beach Bomber Fishing
Your vids are dope and very informational!! So many choices of bait. Here is what I use on boats near Galveston Jetty’s.
6’6” Med-Heavy Ugly Stik
Vintage Abu Garcia Ambassadeur 5000c: 20lbs drag, 50lb braid-15lb mono.
Bait: live/dead shrimp , live/dead mullet, crab.
Rig: chartreuse jig head, circle hooks, and trebles.
Solid setups man. Any jacks out there yet? Oh, thanks for watching, glad you enjoy!
Beach Bomber Fishing thanks bro and no problem. nah no jacks yet. I’ll take a 50in bull red though
