Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again is produced by Judy Craymer and Gary Goetzman, producers of the original film. Craymer is also the creator and producer of the worldwide smash-hit stage musical.
Ol Parker, writer of The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, writes and directs the sequel from a story by Richard Curtis, Parker and Catherine Johnson. Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus return to provide music and lyrics and serve as executive producers. Rita Wilson, Tom Hanks, Curtis, Phyllida Lloyd and Nicky Kentish Barnes also serve as executive producers.
Reprising their roles from Mamma Mia! The Movie are Academy Award® winner Meryl Streep as Donna, Julie Walters as Rosie and Christine Baranski as Tanya. Amanda Seyfried and Dominic Cooper reunite as Sophie and Sky, while Pierce Brosnan, Stellan Skarsgård and Oscar® winner Colin Firth return to play Sophie’s three possible dads: Sam, Bill and Harry.
As the film goes back and forth in time to show how relationships forged in the past resonate in the present, James will play the role of Young Donna. Filling the roles of Young Rosie and Young Tanya are Alexa Davies (A Brilliant Young Mind) and Jessica Keenan Wynn (Broadway’s Beautiful). Young Sam will be played by Jeremy Irvine (War Horse), while Young Bill is Josh Dylan (Allied) and Young Harry is Hugh Skinner (Kill Your Friends).

I cant believe how great meryl streep is as a person and that donna died. And how sweet and lovely every person in this video. I cried through the entire movie because with all that happiness and joy that the scenes gave me there was also the fact of DONNA BEING DEAD. And that was just too much for my sensitive heart.

Loved both movies ,but #2 just has the edge for me.Meryl ,with Amanda , singing "my love my life" had me in bits ,and the wonderful Cher doing fernando was THE best !!
My friend and I and it seemed like all of stockholm religiously went to the cinema to watch this. It was like a duty, but actually, it was a real pleasure, we loved it, we laughed, we cried and we came out of the room with smiles as big as our faces! This film is beautiful, and i dare to say it's even better than the first one! If I ever get to play an extra I would like it to be in this kind of upbeat, family friendly and heartwarming film!!!
Such good casting of Lily James as young Donna. Glamourous, serious, emotional, yet silly, goofy and care-free. Gorgeous yet dorky.
I've seen it 3 times and I wouldn't hesitate to see it again and again! Absolutely loved it!
I think I loved the first one so much I spent half of the second one not liking it because I missed the "legacy cast". I should have trusted the script, by the end of the movie I was crying and happy as hell!! They really tied the two casts and scripts together pretty good!! But my heart will always be with the original.

When watching Mama Mia here we go again, I found the audience completely engaged, singing along and completely enjoying the movie. Thank you. It was a wonderful escape from the current political scene. Joy completely delivered.

A story is told in every song and I love that, music can be either I love the rainy nights that is so repetitive, and these songs are stories that make you dance, and makes you happy, that’s so special, all songs do not give you the joy you get from ABBA SONGS, EVEN THE SAD ONES, I LOVE BOTH MOVIES, JUST FOUND THIS ONE LAST WEEK AND HAVE WATCHED IT ABOUT 7 times, and could watch it a Million more times. Andy was great, so funny, such the Gentleman, loved when he asked , …after I help Cher up the steps what do I do ? ….and he was told step back and disappear, and Andy says , but I want to dance, they said ok step back and Dance.
This movie is AMAZING! Sooooo fun yet touching and yes I shed a tear. Just a great great film!

I enjoyed the second movie more than the first. And I did not expect to. Meryl was the main event in the first, but for some reason, I did not miss her character in 'here we go again'. The new actors were truly entertaining and believable. Great to see the dads again playing their roles so well. Love them. Cher was amazing and to be paired with Garcia was genius. I loved how Dominic and Amanda were much more connected. I will be going again... and again! Truly joyful!

I loved the second movie! More than the first, young Bill is probably my favourite and I just love how donnas life was looked at and played through in more detail and how bright and bouncy it all is, I loved every minute!
The appearance of the Grandmother (Cher) is foreshadowed. Although certainly not fondly, she is mentioned several times between Mamma Mia and Mamma Mia 2. It is not as though we have never heard of this character at all.
Grandmother, a singer, was disapproving and unavailable for Donna, yet, somehow Grandmother has heard the news of the death of her daughter and the grand opening of the hotel by her granddaughter and decides true to her character to make her grand entrance (Remember there was supposed to have been millionaires there originally.) Therefore, it is not totally surprising that at this late date Grandmother shows up.
What throws the audience for a loop is who Grandmother is.
Getting Praise from Benny Anderson like Amanda Seyfried did is a dream come true.

I liked the film but am devastated (as much as one can be about a MOVIE...)that they killed her.... that she did not want to be back in the movie. she didn't have to be in the center of the action. She just had to sit on the porch with the love of her life. but no... kill her off.

I agree that it was sad but I think without her death the plotline set in the present wouldn't have made any sense. It would have lacked importance and just been donna reminiscing and seemed really cheap and uninspired. plus it made her apperance at the end all the more effectful. it was sad, yes, but I enjoyed it as a plot.
I wish they bring back the Donna character in 3rd sequel (if they do the 3rd one)..well, I don't know how they can bring back the dead to life..but you know Hollywood can do anything imaginable or unimaginable! Maybe in 3rd sequel the plot would that she never died but it was her long lost identical twin who died! Hahaha!

Most of the critics hated both the original movie and the remake. To that, I ask, were you expecting War and Peace? Mamma Mia is just infectious fun. That is its purpose. And I enjoyed both films numerous times.

Frankly, I cannot see any reason for Cher to even be there...It's like she is just in for a cameo and to sing Fernando...Or maybe, she was just a way to get more people to come...But, she shows up and crashes the party and acts as if the party is all about her after ignoring her daughter and granddaughter for 25 years...They could've have done it show much better, like if Tanya ended up with him...And I'm not only one who mentioned that as they walked out at the end....

Well, I guess for me it felt like it landed a bit "flat"...Everyone was dancing, excitement everywhere, Sophie had just told Skye she was preggers and he was the father, and suddenly Cher shows up and, thunk, everything stops...It's like if ABBA was in concert and singing Gimmie, etc. And then stopped half way through and started a new song..If they were going to put Cher in the movie it should have been done much earlier...Meryl Streep in the tear-jerker at the end made more sense....I loved every part of the clever past / future plot, except for the way Cher role was handled....

Amanda sounds a lot sadder here like she’s lost a lot of her happiness in this one. There’s less energy here.
That’s also how I felt listening to her sing on the soundtrack and act in the movie. She seemed low energy and phoning it in. She just gave birth so I think she was just a bit tired.
I also thought Donna’s death had a big impact on her character choices.

I am so in love with this movie and can’t get enough of it. I love all the behind the scenes shots, interviews and comments. I believe that it’s so popular is because of all the torment President Trump has sent us through including the COVID.
