- A meeting of the Meghalaya Cabinet was held today and the following were the decisions made:
1. Cabinet has approved the Enhancement of Grant In Aid to Ad hoc School Teachers. For the Hr. Sec., Sec., & Science Teachers, the enhancement will be ₹9000, and for the UP, LP, Hindi & 4th Teachers of the SSA, the enhancement will be ₹6,000.
Through this, Teachers of Hr. Sec. Schools will get ₹33,000/-, Sec. Schools will get ₹29,000 & Science Teachers will get ₹31,000. The other category of UP Teachers will get ₹22,000, LP Teachers will get ₹18,000, Hind Teachers will get ₹18,000 & the 4th Teachers of the SSA will get ₹18,000.
The total impact of this decision will be ₹100 Crores (approx) annually on the Government expenditure. This will be applicable from 1st of July 2022.
2. Cabinet has approved the amendment to the Meghalaya Professions, Trades, Callings & Employment Tax Act. This will make registration mandatory for all. For Schedule Areas, it will be done by District Councils & for Non-Schedule Areas it will be done by the Taxation Dept.
*Anyone with an income of less than ₹1.8 Lakhs will not have to pay the tax that earlier applied to individuals with incomes below ₹50,000.
*The 12 gross income slabs are now reduced to 4. The ₹1.8-₹3 Lakhs slab will be ₹500, ₹3-5 Lakhs slab will be ₹1000, ₹5-₹7.5 Lakhs will be ₹1500 and above ₹7.5 Lakhs will be ₹2500.
*For decriminalisation of minor offences (for not paying of taxes) which previously led to the imprisonment of up to 3 years, the Cabinet has decided to do away with the provision of imprisonment by adding a penalty of payment of 4 times the amount due.
*There will also be an interest amount at 12% Per Annum for those paying late.
*Amendment to be applicable from 1st of April 2022.
3. Cabinet has approved the National Law University Ordinance 2022. Will go to the Assembly for final approval. We will work from a Temporary Campus for the initial time and will move to a permanent campus. 60 students to be taken annually. The financial impact annually will be ₹6.5 Crores.
4. Cabinet has approved the Sanctioned Post for Model Degree College of Rongjeng, East Garo Hills District.

What about the Staffs under the Education Department from the State,District,Block like BRPs,CRPs,Block accountant,Schools accountant who is looking after all the schools i,e from Pre-primary to Higher Secondary ,Collage (Govt,Deficit,Adhoc,Private, and the Out of School Centre).🤔🤔
