certainly one of the 1000 ways to do it. if you wrap the lillian around the slip knot twice, you skip tying the overhand knot in the lillian. its usually not an issue til you need to disassemble the rod for whatever reason.
thanks for all the great videos.

Thanks for these instructional videos! Even though I have been Tenkara fishing for a couple years now, I still learn something.

At this point, I have a few versions of the same video but it gives the brands the opportunity to send instructions to their customers but with their rods in the video ☺️.

For level line I use the Tanuki method which doesn't require a knot in the Lilian and its never failed me...if you're not familiar with it I can provide a link so you can try it out and see what you think...I actually learned this from an old Japanese master when I spent 4 years in Japan...I have a small collection of priceless hand made Tenkara rods that this old master made himself...I used to come to his home in Japan and make repairs that he could not physically do and every time I repaired something he made me a new rod as sort of a payment...I miss that kind soul...

You certainly have credibility with your comment. The thing about fishing is there are 100 ways to do something different but the end goal is to catch fish. I think it's amazing you are happy with your setup and feel free to provide a link so my viewers can explore their options. For me personally.....I don't have much interest in changing things where my fish landing production is where I need it to be. Tenuki is a cool guy. His rods are insanely priced. I held one at an expo and it was simply "buttery" and held true to the Japanese quality stigma but outside of that holding experience I don't think I am missing out on much. His rods and style are a little different than mine and it seems he has built rods to fish kebaris in a certain way.
My tenkara preference is taking the best things from WFF and spin fishing and combining them into one useful method. Now if Tenkuki wants to donate a rod to Skiddy Fishing, I would happily explore the line method as his rods almost kind of require it. I won't hold my breath on that lol. Thank you for the watch! :)

@@skiddyfishing LOL actually I dont have any Tanuki rods either for the same reason...$$$ and specifically I dont believe this method is known as the Tanuki method...the Japanese man I learned it from originally was Kunishegi...no pressure to change anything...this video just reminded me of the video I saw that uses a similar knot...I do like your way as well...keep up these great videos...when I can't get out and fish I enjoy watching!!! Cheers and tight lines!!! Here's the link to the video czcams.com/video/mP6eQPBqoUM/video.html

I always followed the “never feed the tag end through the main loop’ when tying the one knot until one day when my fingers weee so cold I was tired of trying to keep things in order.
I went back through all 3 loops and I’ve been doing it for years. I’ve never had a problem with my version of the knot.

That’s awesome. This video is really for Tenkara anglers who haven’t used their rods for the first time yet but I love that you found something that worked for you! :)
