- If you have come to this video because you are making one yourself, feel free to ask questions, I will do my best to answer them!
As I say in the video, using a camera is not my specialty but hopefully you can still get something out of this despite that.
In part 2 I will be making a custom USB c cable for my keyboard and in part 3 I will assemble everything and do a sound test so stay tuned!
A like is appreciated to help people be able to find this video. - Jak na to + styl
Would love to see a part 2 and 3 some time!
Awesome job, and thank you so much for documenting your journey. I'm aiming to build me first keeb and want to make my own custom wooden case but its been hard to find any info on how to do it. Your videos will serve as an excellent guide and have given me the confidence to go ahead with it. Your keyboard goods amazing, I hope you enjoy it for many years to come - something completely custom and unique that you should be very proud of.
As far as i have searched on youtube you're the only one that made this on video! so thank you!
Thank you for 100 likes!
Cool video. I wanted some ideas on how to approach my diy wooden case and this was perfect.
Hi Nuttist I'm working on my own version of this and you've helped a lot. My only question now is how you did the spacers/standoffs? I've got my length sorted it's just the male/female distinction plus sticking them into the wood
That looks really good! Well done. I wish I could do this but I have a keychron and she already pretty thick so lol
Hey! this is exactly what i am planning on making, where did you find your stand offs?
Cant wait for pt 3 wanting to attempt this just need research and i think i have the right tools, might steal a few of your methods
I will get that out asap, It is going to cover the assembly of the keyboard with the switches, pcb and everything that goes inside it! if you would like to reach out to me I do have a twitter as well and I could help you via dms @TheNuttist
what standoffs did you use and how deep did you have to drill down for the standoffs?
"i'll need to Vaccum our yard" America ! Fuck yeah !
This is so freaking cool.
Great video man! I am going to be doing a similar project to this one.
Vladimir Doan right on man! Best of luck! Leave a comment if you need help!
@@Nuttist Thanks man! Will do!
Subbed! I’m hoping that when I click on your channel you have continued the grind!
Great video!
Hey got a question can i have the messurements for the 60% keyboard?
Hello I am trying to build one as well. I was wondering. What exact dimensions of wood did you use to build this. Let me know. I am going to try and build a tenkeyless size keyboard.
It's possible to do that on a cnc?
how did u find out where to put the standoffs?
Hey man! Really nice job right there, I'm trying to make a wood case for my self and i would like to know if u have the dimensions that u used
Thanks! i built mine around the pcb that I ordered so youll want to make sure that it will fit whatever youre using but the cavity is just over 11 1/4 inches (about 11 5/16ths) by 3 3/4 inches. the height at the back of my keyboard is 2 inches and it tapers to 3/4ths an inch at the front. my case is about 6 inches from front to back total and about an 8th inch shy of a foot long.
if any of that didnt make sense or if you need any other dimensions let me know!
@@Nuttist hahaha sorry for my ignorance but i couldn't understand man! Another doubt that i have is where the screw holes must go, can u help me with that?
where the heck did you get walnut that thick. I have scoured every corner of google.
SUBBED💚💚💚
Do you know any places to buy tkl wooden cases?
Hey I am also making a case right now just want to know how deep down you routerd inside the case where you put the pcb
I did 3/4 inch which gave me enough room for standoffs!
BOY WHAT'RE THOSE
I know nothing about working with wood.. but I wanna give it a try.. can you please tell me how did you fix those screw holes in place or what are they called and where to get them?
If I understood you correctly, those are standoffs and i got them on amazon. I got their placement by putting my pcb and plate on the case and marking the holes. I just screwed them directly in the wood but they arent meant to do that. I would recommend embedding some threaded inserts into the wood, they will hold a lot better
@@Nuttist If it not too much to ask...Could you please share me the product link.
@@probitradas1742 unfortunately, i dont believe they sell the same ones i used but it was just a variety pack of stand offs, you will just wanna make sure it works with your plate and pcb
hey man im thinking about making one by myself. do you think that you could add the dimensions in the description ? and do you have measurements for where the standoffs go ?
I built mine around the pcb that I ordered so youll want to make sure that it will fit whatever youre using and I just lined up the standoffs with that pcb and my plate, i didnt measure them. The cavity where the pcb and plate goes is about 11 5/16ths inch by 3 3/4 inches. the height of the whole case at the back is 2 inches and it tapers to 3/4ths an inch at the front. my case is about 6 inches from front to back total and about 11 7/8ths inches long
best of luck man! when you finish it lemme know, id love to see it!
@@Nuttist i might be the only person in the world who have the same wooden keyboard case.
What are the points for the standoffs? Sorry if I'm being buggy
all good brother, they are to mount the pcb so that it is sturdy but not pressed up against the wood. and there are different heights because some of them attach to the circuit board and the others are for the plate on top.
I can do this too!... I hope....
What is the nut you use so how much size can you tell me
hi where to buy these mini screw stand?
What standoffs did you use?
just a variety pack i got on amazon
www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01N1IUTVT/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
is that a 60 or 65% layout?
Granquer its a 60% but its got a bit of a different layout cause the arrow keys are squished into the same space
is the inside also tilted like the outside that you see?
Nope the inside is flat and parallel to the top, that way the angle at the bottom angles the pcb toward you!
what are the dimensions of the pcb u used
you could always just measure the plate and screw some 1x4s together to make a template...
I have a project like yours, could you post a photo to see how yours was? Thank yoy so much.
if you have a twitter follow me and Ill follow you so we can dm @thenuttist or if you have an instagram message me on there @thenuttist
How thick was the original piece of wood
2 inches
part 2?
how do you make the hole for the usb c to pass through
I believe I drilled it out and then used chisels to get the right size
Is that a marching band playing in the background
Were did you get your template
I made my template out of mdf by tracing the the plate for my keyboard. I ordered the wrong plate originally so thats the one I traced but I got the right one and that was what I used in the final build.
Can I have the measurements? And dimensions?
Ehhh can you help meh?
whats goin on man
@@Nuttist
Okay so I was wondering about like making designs in the wood by using currents of electricity. What's your thoughts?
@@munen343 could be super cool, the only thing is that on the keyboard case there isnt a lot of flat space to see those kind of patterns. On a separate wrist wrest or if the keyboard has an attached wrist wrest it would look pretty sick. Ive seen a lot of people do fractal wood burning and filling it with resin which could also be super cool. youll have to let me know if you do that and send pics!
watching this makes me feel dizzy ;-;
Then later he changed cuz his viewers called it a cardboard box KEKW
kebod
Bruh I would literally pay for a case like that you should sell some
Gave me motion sickness
If I pay you some good money, will you make me a wooden case for my Anne Pro 2?
And now you make minecraft shorts. Wow.
part 2 ?
It will be a 3 part series, all are already recorded!
@@Nuttist still waiting >.
@@TBOSUMO me too >.
