Now to find someone who will actually sing with me lmao 😂
I'll do it
Join smule, thousands of people will sing with you.
I just have garage band. It’s free, and you are able to record your voice & sing harmonizations with it. (I’m lonely & corona lmao)
HMU 😂
I will!
I've just realized I can't sing
No, today you realized you need to practise
Me too. I can not sing and i am so embarassed about it. I dont even have enough confidence to sing in front of me in the mirror. Hurt my ears. But i love singing >: too bad
@@gianghinguyen1701 try to find songs that are easy to sing for you, and sing them a lot! understand how your voice works, where it sounds best and practice that a lot. when you got that handled, work on different songs. ot might take a while but you'll at least be able to sing decently. it worled for me, at least
You can do it. Just practice. Maybe take lessons or something. You’ll find your voice and you’ll be able to sing better
Mood
I’d like to just be able to sing
Little Birdy got the worm practice practice practice:) everything is possible
Me too. 😔 My swollen tonsils from allergies won't let me right now and it's driving me nuts.
Been singing for 20 years! Never knew the technicals behind harmony. Just whatever sounded right…WOW
wow you're so talented!! meanwhile i cannot sing harmonies to save my life LOL (somehow i always sing in a different key instead of harmonizing)
...I can sing well....but harmonizations are almost impossible for me! How comes? :D
Hey E. Piovani! Don't give up, it is all about getting used to the sound of the harmony and practicing over and over again. Orian only learned to sing in harmony in her twenties, so it's never too late. Check out our 3 Top Tips for singing in harmony video (czcams.com/video/ac-OaHCWyZg/video.html) and How to Sing in Harmony with O&O on Jacobs Vocal Academy (czcams.com/video/ddvhtW3rMeo/video.html), this one has exercises you can sing along to!
I will!!! And i will let you know! ;)
possibly a silly question: when I hear a guy and a girl singing in harmony it is always much more easier for me to "ear" the girl rather than the notes the guy is singing, that for me remains a nice mysterious background I'm totally unable to reproduce. Is it somehow..."normal" or my brain is really deranged? ;)
E. Piovani, that is very normal! The girl's part is usually higher and so it stands out more and it is easier for our ear to hear the top notes. It takes practice to be able to pick out the lower 'guy's part. Try breaking it down to each note: sing the girls part and then drop the pitch until you settle onto the guy's note. In our tutorial for Fleetwood Mac's 'I Don't Want To Know', we demonstrate two parts separately first and then put them together, try practicing along with the video! czcams.com/video/DmmrRLH0m5A/video.html
E. Piovani just keep practicing the part you want to take, and, if possible, do it with a slow tempo at first. I also think practicing with a partner who can sing can help a lot too.
Me: OK, Jenny, I'm going to sing a song, and I want you to harmonize by singing a third above my melody.
Jenny: *puzzled look*
Yeah its not really teaching how it's just teaching what it is really
I always tried to harmonize to themusic that I listened with in my phone. Am I weird?
Lol I do that too
Same here, whenever I sing along I usually always harmonize where I can and sometimes I forget the original melody for a second cuz I sing the harmony more often than the original melody
Dallas Onew Era dont wanna break the news to you but all us singers do that 😂 all the time !! It’s very very very common
@@rewesandwich omg me toooo !!!!
Dallas Onew Era SAME! It’s very easy with Shawn Mendes songs if you like singing high notes
Hard to concentrate on what they are so clearly explaining when I'm looking at how ridiculously beautiful and handsome they are.
Frank Lesser exactly! Why is god picking favourites?? Why god why?
Period
@Mr Sir Just because you think someone looks nice doesn't necessarily mean you're attracted to them and it's really not necessary and incredibly rude for you to be say that to them even if they are.
Mr Sir
You never confirmed that it was a joke. We can’t hear sarcasm over text. Besides, that’s still a very rude joke. You don’t know the person who originally commented. Saying that could have a really bad effect on them. If it were someone you knew who would understand you mean no harm well that’s one thing entirely. Joking like that about someone you don’t know is something else.
You don’t have to be a liberal to be considerate and have some common sense.
Mr Sir
Deal with what?
You yourself made a big deal out of them possibly being a liberal when that had nothing to do with what was being said. Does that make you a liberal?
I can harmonize by ear.....and i wish i could say how i learned it but i cant say how or when...i just naturally able to do it with any song and i never knew about this video either
You may have perfect pitch
Everyone who disliked has never heard of harmonizing
Haha!

Are we just not gonna talk about how cool their names are?! :O
1:52 i liked the second one lol
Same lol
when i tried to harmonize with my classmates im getting out of tune
try closing one ear
@@aditithayil3671 how do you close an ear what
@@edenem with your finger just close one ear so you won't be able to hear the other voices and you can focus on your own voice. Makes sense?
Thanks for this! I have always sang lead, and couldn't quite get singing harmonies. This helped so much. Also I understand quite a bit of music theory,as a guitarist,so made it easy to understand the triads,CEG,etc.
What?! Guitarists don't understand music theory!
@@jackisgallant we're trying :(
Aw, you guys are so gorgeous and sound so beautiful together! Very aesthetically pleasing to the eyes and ears. Thank you for imparting your knowledge as well, I now have a grasp on what harmony is. Thanks.
Kiki G, what do their looks have to do with anything at all about how well they sing or about singing harmonies in general? If they were unattractive, would not tell them how attractive they are and therefore imply that they were unattractive? I suppose the answer is yes.
John Wayne she could just being giving them a compliment, no harm done.
larissa tabrum, where’s my compliment then? Or yours?
@@Dr.Jekyll Well, we aren't going to give you one because you are causing unnecessary drama and we dont even know what you look like. @larissa tabrum, thank you for handling that comment in a mature way.
But then again, @John Wayne, you could just be having a hard time and relieving your stress on others, but you should just know that in the near future, please don't pull drama out of nowhere.
USA8551 your response is the drama-filled one. Stop supposing and guessing and judging. Looks have nothing to do with singing ability. Prove me wrong.
This is what I NEED!! THANK YOU!!!!
Cj Diaz Thank you! Make sure to check out our other harmony videos too: czcams.com/video/ddvhtW3rMeo/video.html
Thank you so much for this lesson. You have unlocked the basic that most of the beginner singers are taking a hard time with.
Keep in mind that that’s a major third in the beginning. You can also use minor thirds to harmonize if there’s a minor chord. I suck at singing but I write songs in a jazz band.
That was such a great tutorial! One of my bucket lists is to learn how to harmonize!
Thank you so much!
Awesome, thank you both so much. I've just begun to learn how to vocally harmonize, and this has help tremendously, much appreciated!
Even with just two notes combined together they sound so good! I don't know how people can dislike this kind of video!
IlovePOTATOES somuch Thank you! 😉
oandoduo welcome!😀
Many thanks for this.
Something that has helped me immensely in trying to sing harmonies is to follow some advice I read or heard that suggested thinking of a harmony part as an alternative melody.
In other words, instead of thinking of building harmonies by trying to shadow or think of a harmony for each individual note of the melody, think more broadly, about an alternative 'tune' to the main melody.
I love how simple and yet detailed the video is
Omg love that shirt of the virtuvian man playing a guitar. Goals.
Beautiful!
Thank you so much for your tutorial!!
Am trying to find more of your videos!!!
Thank you so so much for this🥺❤️. My recordings went up a level using harmonies. I was so intimidated by harmonies but your videos made it so much easier❤️❤️❤️
This was so on point and actually helpful.. thanks guys
I struggle with not allowing my vibrato to stand out too much. I take opera lessons so this is usually a good quality especially when I was learning trills, however while in choir even if I can decrease my natural dramatic colourtura volume the heaviness of my voice and vibrato always stick out while in a group of even 30.
Our home was a musical home - we grew up hearing 4 part harmony so it was natural to "hear" the 4 parts and even sing the 4 parts.
Thank you both so much for taking the time to do this video and for sharing your knowledge on how to harmonize!!
Hey Dorikah! Thank you for taking the time to leave this lovely comment! We are so glad you found this video helpful. Don't forget to subscribe for more :)
Thank you guys! Awesome tutorial! 😀
Once me and my friend were singing a song and we just atarted harmonizing out of no where and we both were really sirprized cause it sounded so good
That made so much sense. Thank you for your video!
I sang in high school choir and church choir but it's been a lot of years! However, I have been trying to harmonize with songs on CZcams. I have a son with autism who LOVES to sing country songs so I told him we should learn to harmonize. I think it'd be a lot of fun! My mom taught me. Now I can teach him. Thank you for a great video!
Thank you, you're both life savers!
I guess it needs talent to sing in harmony. I can sing okay but I never understand how to harmonize. 🤦♀️😭
I think it needs practice, it's possible to learn, you just have to get used to the sound. I'm currently singing in a choir and I know people who have learned this... don't give up!! :)
Shanu Groos Choir peeps are super cool! Like they all can harmonize all the 20 voices together! I hope I can do it better someday! Every time I try to harmonize it sounds off 🤦♀️
@@fairfight9857 yess, the choir where I sing is a small one, but I know what you mean!
something that's helped me recognize the way a harmony it's soposed to sound in my own voice is trying to imitate someone else's harmony, if that makes sense haha
I hope this helps you, sorry about my english 🙈
Johnath Koh
You both look absolutely beautiful together!😊😊😊😊 And thanks for the guidance!😊
Lovely ... explained so well and easy to understand ...
That you for helping me I have a singing facts compition for chorus and I doing trio and I have to do harmony. I needed a couple of tips.
So well explained!!
Thank you So much I searched all around about how to sing in harmony, not because I wanted to understand harmonies, but because I wanted to understand how the melody we sing in relation to the instrument chords works, as I just couldn't find someone simply explaining how to sing melodies - it always gave me examples of how to sing harmonies. But this video did everything, cleaned my confusion between the two, and explained both, showed how to do it, thank you. Gonna go watch the next ones now.
Awesome thank you guys
This is so clear thank you!
Wow very helpful I play piano but my voice at times will not fall into place with the chords this is what I need thank you guys.
Good format for breaking it down. Thank you!
Love you guys! You've just changed my life!
Excellent explanation .
Thank you.

Loved it
It was great to have a vid where two hosts are able to show harmony together, most vids I've seen are a single host explaining the concept: thank you!
Hey! Thanks so much for watching. Glad you found it helpful! We have a new harmony tutorial with one, quick and easy example here: czcams.com/video/UZNO13xKAPY/video.html
I learned how to sing harmony by hearing it. My pastor’s wife sang harmony, and I learned from her.

You guys are amazing. You explained it beautifully 👏🏼
they are perfect
Thank you guys sooo much, you made it soo easy.
Great singing .... Harmony is a peaceful day
Short and very helpful
Thank you for explaining it so well and straight forward! I don't know why so many people seem to have the idea that harmony is "the same note but an octave different." Tried to explain sooo many different times that that's absolutely wrong, but this makes it so much easier. Awesome video!
Thanks for the tips.
Great simple explanation! Thanks for this video! 👍
Thank you so much!!!
Thank you so much. You made it really very simple.
I know nothing about music and this made sense to me. You are both skilled teachers.
Very good I need this

Thanks, great video. A friend and I have been getting together for singing sessions. We’ve just started to be adventurous enough to try some harmonies on some David Bowie songs. I will be following your channel for some tips. Thanks 😊
Well Done both of you. 2 of you explaiend the best. thank you!
Is anyone else reminded of Alexis (Annie Murphy) from SC?
Okay, on topic now: I love these videos! Very educational and entertaining. Thank you!!
Nice video guys! I want to sing my own harmonies (as I always sing alone) and I knew it was a 3rd or 5th, but this is really helpful, cheers.
Thanks you so much!! I've looked all over the place for a tutorial for this and here I've found one finally :)
Kudos to you lot!!

Thanks man!
I enjoyed that and I subscribed I could have used that info years ago thanks for sharing
Awesome
i love this clip
Oh wow thanks for this!
I love this video
Lovely sound, but of course when you say a third here you always mean a major third??
Hey Alan, thanks for watching! When you sing a third above a changing melody, you actually often switch between major and minor thirds (and sometimes fourths) to better suit the accompanying chords. In our example, 'Bye Bye Love' by The Everly Brothers, it starts as a Major Third (E above C) and then changes to a Minor Third (D above B).
Oh wow. I didn't realize it was easy as ABC! Thanks a lot. 💐
that was amazing!
This was super helpful😭... Lot's of love guys❤
This is cool....so well explained 👍🏻
this is actually really helpful
Awesome!
Thank you so much!!!!!!!
