    I'd actually never thought this through, by blocking a garrison by your proximity, you are actually preventing a replacement garrison being built within 200m, which can seriously hamper an enemies ability for example to reinforce a point.

    One thing that needs way more emphasis is the role of the support player in the squad. As a support player you should be on the SL as often as possible or dropping supplies in strategic points on the map and redeploying on or near manpower nodes so your supplies refill 50% faster.

    • @nightwolfactual8977
      @nightwolfactual8977 Před 8 měsíci +12

      And leaving the support slot open on a squad can be key. Drop your supplies and rotate off when you die so anyone can hop on and drop supplies at the OP...

    • @d-rot
      @d-rot Před 8 měsíci +5

      @@nightwolfactual8977 Agree with both of you. If you're hip pocketing the SL, redeploying and making your way through manpower nodes and deploying back on the OP that can be way more effective than role hopping the Support slot. Although for red zones garries without another squad's support player, you'll likely need to swap as well. Worse, other than no support players, is a support player on the flamethrower grind who doesn't redeploy and doesn't role hop.

    • @trembo3

      One time I asked my squad if anyone could take the support role one of the answers I got was "bro nobody wants to play as support" and a bunch of guys replied like "yeah yeah". I kick all of them out of my squad and demand a support soldier. I know it sound like I'm squared and not very fun but its the opposed, this game is more fun when you play it right

    The whole searching for enemies on defense can be really fun if you get a whole squad working on it. Lately I like offensive mode because it's less worrying about constantly building garrisons which can be difficult on a pub server, and more fun can be spent fighting over a single point.

    • @sdm6054

      Hunting down enemies on the flank defence is the single greatest way to play this game. I love defence for this reason, Getting that flank on attacking enemies causes so much panic for them.

    • @rageagainstmyhatchet
      @rageagainstmyhatchet Před 8 měsíci

      I prefer to defend also. The main problem is that if squads aren't happy to defend dynamically then you will be overwhelmed and surrounded anyway, meaning you don't get the chance to reconnoitre out to the flanks.

  • @hereswhatsleft
    @hereswhatsleft Před 8 měsíci +10

    I like the you stress the importance of playing "active" defense. You obviously need some people to duke it out in the strongpoint, but it's SO important to maintain map control and disrupt attempts by the enemy to set up within your own blue zone.

    • @sdm6054

    1. As a commander I will remove attack garries when we need to bolster the defence, but not when there is nowhere else to spawn. Removing the only garrisons by the commander is a really bad play.
    2. Many player think that just sitting in the strong point is defending. Much better defensive play done your sq covering the rear sectors. A bonus here is that a squad can block any enemy garrisons by just proximity while you hunt them.
    3. Getting behind the enemy and just backtrack enemy movement is always good.
    4. Nice to see your video's again.

    Now that's soldiering...

  • @rageagainstmyhatchet
    @rageagainstmyhatchet Před 8 měsíci +13

    What I see on the tournament games is that you will have MOST of the team defending and holding strategic flanks, and then a few squads pushing the point - if an opportunity develops then a couple more squads might join, but only if it's safe...
    In tournament games, they know that Losing a point is worse than not taking one for a bit longer.
    Why the average drop-in gamer can't process this is still beyond me.
    - It's like the game 'Could' be framed like a tower defense, where you dig in and hold off the waves of hordes as they crash against your walls, but instead it's seen as bug-lamp automation, where the players "see next point over there, cool, spawn as close as possible and fight your way to it..."
    People think they're playing a big map version of unreal tournament, or Doom, when really they're paying a First Person RTS.

      Most importantly, talking to and strategising with the commander and doing as he asks is busy work?
      People spend way too much time chasing kills, that is literally reason most games are lost. It is a massive problem, there is no way you haven't noticed that, you have mentioned it dozens of times in your videos.

    Whats fun is that i rememeber watching monos videos a year ago and leanring so much about the gamee. Now when i watch them i see his mistakes etc but im always impressed with his decisive movement and chaining together kills with good shooting and shooting position/repositioning.
    In terms of effective squad leading its nice to let people do what they feel like doing at times but in this game timing is so critical you have to be in the right place at the right time shifting your cap weight at the right moment and limiting the opponents ability to move their cap weight , I find its great to lay down move and attack markers for a good communicative squad and you can multiply your combat effectiveness.

    2:35 there were no backups near maison so he tried to cover his ass by dismantling the attacking garry, at that point it was already a cap race that looked in your team's favor. That garry was also the only way people could get last wave of respawns to get into maison should cap race be lost. If he had any defensive garrisons setup, he wouldn't have to remove your garry. Common commander L, they only see the red side of the map until it's too late to make backups

    Every class plays its own (mini) game, so does SL as well. Ig driving supplies for garrisons is needed than do so. If babysitting is needed, do so. Order the squad around, always give some instruction, knowing how much room all roles need to have (tank hunter, supply drops, reconises, flushing flanks).
    I also left my squads for big parts of the game, supporting them in where to spawn and what to expect (relay info), rarely babysit or stick around them..

      I don't know what is happening on public servers. Sometimes I watch support player in the map with their SL by their side and no for a single second they think "hey let's build a Garry". Sometimes you'll have a SL lead passing by some sups and just won't build a Garry. And my favorite: Squads without SL.
