Coaches be wild. I was again surprised about what happens in ice dance. I was in worlds this year and i was looking online and practically all of the top ice dancers. And even worst, they are branching out. Other coaches are opening branches in other cities. Like what in the world

The politics in ice dance makes me wonder who would willingly want to be a part of a sport where you can be fabulous but not win if you don't have the right coach.

Stephane lambiel is the best coach in my opinion and a fantastic choreographer the idea that he is handsome and fluffy what ever that means effecting his coaching is ridiculous his relationship with his students is a testament to his success and injuries sometimes occur and can not be blamed on any one person as for the Russians they have conducted themselves in a shameful manor a disgrace to the sport I do not respect them anymore that display at the Olympics was embarrassing

I have not heard anything credible that is negative towards Brian Orser. Agree that abusive coaches should not be rewarded.

I agree that the only thing I really heard was about him releasing Yuna's music without her saying she wanted him to, but that was 14 years ago now so, with the current evidence, I wouldn't put him on the same level as other coaches on the list for sure

@@blueflamesandice Besides, he also tried to block Yuna from her choreographer and her costume maker. The most recent is that Brian also announced Jun leaving him without any prior statement from the skater himself but it seems Jun didn't have any objections. But I think Brian was just petty in the situation with Yuna, that's more a personal issue that he couldn't cope with the skater leaving rather than being an abusive coach. Still we never know what is going on during the training and we should not glorify any coach but he seems to be quite decent and probably the best top-level coach (because the standards are just pretty low). And I think if something critical was going on in his camp, we would know that from Adam Rippon, Gabrielle Daleman or Evgenia Medvedeva who are quite vocal and open about their figure skating experience (though I wouldn't trust Evgenia too much since recently she has made quite a few very controversial statements that seems to be a little bit too resemblant to the statements that russian officials are spreading)

A big problem about this is I don't think the ISU has the power to punish coaches (correct me if im wrong), or they lack the resources to do so. I believe they leave it up to the individual federations to handle coaching issues with their national skaters, which we know doesn't happen often given the amount of allegations recently brought up against USFS and the Valieva case. The ISU is just absolutely tone-deaf when it comes to anything that doesn't happen on ice at competitions.
This topic needs to be talked about more so change can actually start to happen.
